Isn't your pinky toe important to maintaining proper balance???

If that's true, then she's an idiot (sounds like an idiot to begin with).

That being said, if I brought a girl home to romp around with, I took her shoes off and BAM! no pinky toe. I'd be freaked out!

Yes. My MIL has rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus and other issues. She has fallen several times because the bones in her feet are warped and several toes don't make contact with the ground. She fell and tore up her shoulder, had surgery then fell a week later and broke her damn wrist.

I'm sure she'd gladly take a functioning toe.

Takes less time than Chinese foot binding!

    Probably much less painful, too!

The description in Snow Flower and the Secret Fan made me sick to my stomach.

did she have man feet? Why the need to cut off a toe or 2?!? Oh ouch. And, yea, no. I would not. My dainty little feet fit just fine in heels.
She''s actually pretty petite. I don't really notice her feet. But I've seen her come in lots of times all dressed up in designer clothing and she does drive a Jaguar S type ($100,000 car). So at this point I'm assuming she did it to wear designer shoes.

And now she can't wear flip flops without looking like a freak.

I don't understand it at all. It's like Lotus Feet Binding in ancient China.
Thankfully, though, we don't have to remove toes in order to find men who want to marry us.

Which surgery did she have tho?

"Cinderella," a surgery that removes bunions,
    the "Perfect 10" (shortens toes),
    the "Model T" (lengthens them),
or the "Foot Tuck, a fat-pad augmentation that helps with high heels."

They all do different things, and they are all meant for designer heels.

This. But really, "meh." Don't care what other people do as long as the doctor isn't doing something unethical. I can see how the foot pad augmentation would be a big hit and I wouldn't judge anyone for doing it. I have a super high arch and a shallow fat pad. Wearing heels kills my feet. Not even after a few hours; from the second I put them on. If I worked in a professional environment, and wasn't completely terrified of altering my body, I would consider it.

The toe thing seems excessive, but again, not going to judge anyone. I have a short ligament on my right pinky toe and it doesn't touch the ground. I lived in San Diego until I was 20 and was mostly barefoot or wearing flip flops. This toe really stressed me out and while most people didn't notice it, when they did, I felt really self conscious. So much so that I went to a specialist to see what my options were for having it fixed. There were just too many risks to make it worth it for me, so I learned to live with it. Now it doesn't bother me a bit and I think it adds character to my foot. My husband thinks it's cute.

Anyway, if wearing heels make these women feel good about themselves, IDGAF what they do to make wearing heels comfortable.

Out of all the plastic surgeries you can get that is one I definitely would not get, I can live without wearing heels. Now the flab that hangs from having 3 kids and my boobs, heck yes if I could afford it and possibly the flabby arms. lol

My grandfather lost a couple of toes thanks to a bit of molten plastic that stuck to the bottom of his foot. It took him a bit of physical therapy to learn how to walk without them because it threw off his balance so completely. I wouldn't do that to myself voluntarily.

Someone broke my toe years ago. I cannot wear closed heels for that reason. IF I were to get it fixed it would be to erase the memory of the initial event, wearing those red peep toes would be a plus.

I took care of all of this painlessly though! I got into country music and line dancing. My birthday present was a pair of yummy chocolate brown cowboy boots with awesome details!!

I dance the night away and am in style! BOOYAH!

Quite the world we live in where we alter our bodies to fit into shoes/clothes instead of altering shoes/clothes to fit us. Pretty scary actually.

    Darwinism at its finest

I had no idea Darwin had a foot fetish.

    The more you know....
His earliest copy of OTOS did have some overly-detailed flipper sketches...just sayin.

    LOL!!! I'm dying!!

I wear heels just about everyday, and usually very tall ones without any problems with my pinkie toe.
    Some women are just CRAZY!!

Holy crap! What on earth?!?! I've never heard of anything like that, but my pinky toe sure doesn't prohibit me from wearing heels. Did she have an oversized toe or something.

I don't care if someone wants to get plastic surgery. I'll have it eventually, for a breast reduction.

Plastic surgery to redesign feet in order to wear high heels? Seems like an ominous look at her future, poor thing. I'm all for plastic surgery such as tucks and lifts and shaping; but, structural changes to bone and tendon seem a little frightening. My opinion.

Do what you want but I think surgery is risky enough when you need it, why take a chance when you can do without?
And yes, I do realize that modern medicine has come a long way, doesn't make it perfect.

I have what I call "man feet" and though finding heels is a pain in the *kitten* and I can only find them at certain stores, that's where I shop for them! I have never had my pinky toe cause discomfort while wearing heels or prevent them from fitting.

WTF - I have the world's ugliest feet you've ever seen on a woman and I still woudlnt' cut a toe off..... if I REALLY want a pair of shoes and they are terribly uncomfortable I might decide to still buy them for occasions where I don't have to walk/dance a lot but jeez.

Side note - I'm totally up for a boob job lol

Shame on you for engaging in digit-shaming. It's about how many toes she "feels" she should have and her metatarsal identity.

No. I don't wear high heels and don't intend to start. Instead of women lopping off parts of their feet to cram on a certain style of shoe, why don't shoe designers make shoes that actually fit a woman's foot?

What? No! I don't even understand. I'm a dancer, my feet have served me well. I did have to have my feet corrected as a baby because I was born with a condition that would not have allowed me to walk. My younger daughter also needed the same treatment, although hers was bad, it was not as bad as mine. She could walk, but would never have been comfortable in any kind of shoes and would have had many problems down the road. I love my teeny tiny feet! I get compliments on how I can use my feet for dance performances. I need my pinky toes!!! I didn't read any of the replies and am still uncertain if this is real or not. Haha
