Hey, does anyone get so upset and sad that their stomach just goes sour? Or after a breakup or loss of a family member, you literally cant eat or you'll get sick? I've been this way my whole life and idk if i'm just weird or if anyone else gets this way too

Yeah, somewhat... When I get really, really sad or depressed, I tend to lose my appetite and can go for days not eating and only drinking minimal water. It's rare though; last time this happened was a year ago! Not sure if it's a medical thing though... might just be psychological.0

Anything in particular that helped it stop happening?0 -
i can't eat when i'm stressed, sad or angry.
luckily for sanity that doesnt happen very often and doesnt last very long because i'm a problem solver not a problem wallower. For me what helps is getting a plan to solving the problems and working towards it. if it's an issue i can't esolve then allow myself a little time to feel the experience but after that it's time to move the *kitten* on to acceptance and picking up the pieces
like i said, my way has been lucky for my sanity but not so much for my waistline :laugh:0 -
If I'm sad about a guy, I can't eat. If it's sadness about anything else, I just want to eat to distract myself.0

Yes, but never more than a day. Usually by that time I've had to do to stabilize my blood sugar. And I know it stems from my relationship with my parents, and how they treated food.0

Mainly breakups make me sick for like 2 weeks. Think it scares me and being scared makes me unable to eat.0 -
I can't decide whether Im very lucky that I have obviously never been miserable enough to stop eating, or to be frustrated that the countless times I have been stressed, very unhappy, or just miserable I only want to stuff my face!! :-)0

All the damn time. Sometimes it's anxiety about nothing. Sigh. fml0

When my relationship ended about 6 months ago I barely ate for 2 months. The up side of that was I was shedding weight but it's a little distressing.0

The more I quit using food to deal with my emotions, the more things tend to tick me off, or I find myself getting tied up in knots over stuff.
Things at work have been a little rough - too big a can of worms to really go into - but some of the issues have really knotted up my stomach, which makes it hard to eat sometimes.
My therapist laughed at me and said, "Do you find now that things tick you off more than they used to?" YES!! He said it's because I'm not eating my way past them now.
Sometimes I'd rather do that then feel that knot in my stomach!0 -
I call it heartbreak! I feel like this whenever anyone gives me bad news or I feel particularly anxious - I can feel like think if I am unhappy and miss my Husband.
I never feel hungry and often feel that a mouthful of water would make me sick! Sheer panic and anxiety
