I've been doing c25k for 6 weeks now, and while shaving my legs today I noticed a solid calf muscle that I have seen for a while.4

Last week I ran three miles in 31:13, this week I ran it in 29:38. Still pretty stocked about that.7

I just lost my first 20lbs.10

I have a fair few, so here we go!
- My BMI has solidly dropped into the "overweight" rather than "obese" category.
- I tried on a bunch of stuff in the sale yesterday and my reaction when I looked in the dressing room mirrors is that I look really tiny! all is relative of course, but how often do you feel good about yourself in a dressing room??
- I ran into an old acquaintance last weekend and he said I "look really good, [your flatmate] mentioned that you've lost a lot of weight"
- I have a waist. And some pretty defined obliques even though there is still a big pudge centred on my stomach.
- The rehab for my knee injury is going really well. Saw my physio on wednesday and I have more movement in the right direction and less movement in the wrong (hyperextension).
It's been a good week5 -
I'm on day 17 of the 30 day burpee challenge and am still here to type! :laugh:5

I remember the day this happened to me. Haha! It's weird to be so happy about being "overweight" isn't it?
Congrats! :flowerforyou:4 -
Running 15 minutes without stopping. No binges in the past 4 days.7

Didn't pick on my kids' desserts while on vacation! And my pants feel better because of it!2

I started walking a dog about a year ago. We'd go around the block from her house, then down the street to the park. First thing I'd do when we got to the park was sit on the bench. The we'd walk around the perimeter of the park for another quarter mile or so and I'd hit the second bench for a few minutes. Then another quarter mile and another bench. Then back to the first bench to rest before walking her home--and it took 10 minutes to get to her house from the park.
Now we make a big rectangle for the first part of the walk (about 4 x 2 blocks), then around the perimeter of the park without stopping and THEN we stop for bull frog "hunting" walking up and down the tiny stream a couple of times. It takes about six minutes to get between the house and the park now. Last year I'd have to go straight home and rest on the couch after walking her. Now I go pay bills, do my grocery shopping, or return home to do some yard work. What a big difference 23 pounds and a year of walking three times a week makes!9 -
I bought a PENCIL SKIRT!!! Me of the amazing thunder thighs! And I bought it in a size 16. I took a 16 and an 18 into the fitting room and gambled with trying on the 16 first- didn't even need to take the 18 off the hanger!6

I went rock climbing today. For the second time in my life. (The first time was like 12 years ago.)
Before my weight like loss, showing my butt to a group watching me from below would have been unthinkable. I felt FREE today because I do not have to think about appearances anymore. Swimming? Sure. Rock climbing? Why not! Clothes swap? I am in.10 -
When I first started this process of losing weight and becoming healthier, I would spend so much time reading the NSVs and the "before and after" pictures for motivation. I still enjoy reading how everyone's hard work is paying off. Here are my NSVs for the week.
1. I ran 3 minutes straight in the C2K program....I know that isn't much, but I could barely finish the minute when I started!
2. I bought a bikini!7 -
Another NSV from yesterday. My mother-in-law brought out a box of Ding Dongs (my ABSOLUTE favorite!) and offered me one. I said no, quickly followed by, "I can't believe I just turned down a Ding Dong!" My husband said, "Are you okay? You never pass up Ding Dongs!"
ETA:
I really understand this. Ding Dongs are my favorite also, so much so my brother makes a joke of it and has a picture of me holding a box as my picture in his phone!0 -
Today's NSV:
Flexed the back of my legs in front of the mirror. Wow.6 -
Ran my first 5K today and didn't finish last!!!!7
-
Ran 3miles no walk breaks!!!6

Bargain shopping yesterday I found that I have moved:
From a solid 3X shirt size to between 1X and 2X (depending on size)
From a 24/26 in pants to a 20
It is rather unfair that now that I am in a smaller size my economical practical side says... don't shop until you absolutely NEED to, like 2-3 sizes from here!4 -
I'm one size down already!! I feel more motivated when I look in a full length mirror then when I get on the scale!!5
-
Did the round kicks in heavy bag class on Thursday and survived my first ever yoga class afterward.
Didn't suffer manic sciatica afterward!!!
And lifted last night, pushed the weights up a bit and stretched afterward. Again, no sciatica.
This makes me SO happy!6 -
sitting on the sofa at home and realizing I can tuck my knees up toward my chest and feet flat on the sofa seat, and sit comfortably. That is the sort of position that my thinner friends would sit in when we were teens and I just could not, I was too big. Kind of cool to be able to do that at 37, finally.10
-
Bought a size XL dress today! Haven't done that in about 10 years.4

I am 10 days cigarette free after 33 years of smoking!! :happy:25

in 2011 I went up a mountain that's consistently steep to the point that the 40 min hike gave me strong lower back pain, as well as left me very short of breath and aching at the muscles. I stayed clear of that mountain up until last autumn, and have since done it twice in the past month and a half or so. The last time I did it, a week or so ago, I felt like I'd done nothing of the sort the day after. I'd have been almost incapacitated for days before I started working out last summer5

Incredible! Congrats! Keep going!2 -
Mine was this morning, while helping my nephew move into his new place. My brother in law looked at me and said "well, how much skinnier are you going to get?"
(in reality I have about 30-40 more pounds to lose)5 -
Cutting my run time down by like two or three minutes per mile.3
