Hey I'm Lee-Ann and live in North Yorkshire,
I've got a long journey ahead of me (70lbs would be ideal) but am feeling so positive this time, my husband is on board but he has the opposite problem to me and is trying to put on a bit of weight and tone up. It's still nice to have a shared interest (soon to become an obsession I think )though.
So far it has been a week on MFP, tracking my calories and working out each day if I can and I'm actually feeling really quite proud of myself as I've had a great week. Anyway, hello to all you UK peeps, and good luck with reaching your goals x
ps feel free to add me, as they say a problem shared is a problem halved...maybe that should read a challenge shared is a challenge halved xx0 -
Hi from a newbie in Belfast. To quote a work colleague - "It's January, back to work, its dark, the tax bill's looming, and you expect me to deal with all this .... WITHOUT CHOCOLATE??"
I'm 37, 6f2, 119kg (yikes!), managed to lose a few kg last year out on the bike, but that's not much craic in January! So now the Christmas pressies are eaten, it;s time to get started again - and everyone else is bored of hearing me talk about it!
ps is it telling that my targeted ads on this site are mostly entitled "All you can eat in Belfast!"?
(crossposted to introductions thread - apologies for double - like I said, newbie!)0 -
Hey there,
I'm also a newbie - I'm from near Leeds.
I'm feeling in the zone regarding my weight loss and this place seems great to be able to get help and support.
I originally downloaded as an app for my mobile phone so it's great to know that there are actual people to interact with as well!!
Feel free to add me as a friend if you wish!

Hi everyone. I'm Kate, I live on the Somerset/Wiltshire border. I'm 27 and gave birth to my 3rd little boy in October.
I'm a size 18 (from a size 10-12 11 years ago) and at my heaviest when not pregnant weighed nearly 16 stone. I'm 5'9'' and have a muscular physique so I know I'll never be 10 stone again but my goal is to get back down to 13.5 stone. I have 1 stone 8 lb to go after putting on 10lb over xmas and new year! (Really not sure how that happened).
I don't excercise at all unless you count breastfeeding, running around after 2 toddlers or cleaning the house! I did join a gym a few years ago but just developed further muscle, especially on my calves and put on weight because of it.
Feel free to add me, I'm new here and it would be great to support each other and get inspiration from everyone's achievements.0 -
Hi Kate,
Sounds like you get lots of exercise with the children! Not sure where everyone has gone on here but welcome to the thread!!0 -
I work ft and have a toddler, and have no time to excercise!0

Hi all,
I'm Carrie from near Cambridge. I'm 5'4" and 15 stone 11lbs. I started properly this week.
I have joined the gym and am ready to go. Like most people I have made a few attempts to lose weight but I am now at my heaviest. I think this is my last chance to try and lose weight myself before I look into weight loss surgery.
I want to lose weight as I am plannning to get married in September (although I haven't found a venue yet) and we want to start trying for children just after the wedding. I want to be healthier before trying to conceive.

Hi
I live in London. I joined MFP in December. It's really encouraged me to go back to looking at what I'm eating and when. I like using the recipe section - I'm doing fairly well at recording what I cook at home. I've tried the gym over the years, but hated it. I enjoy walking so try to do that a couple of times a week. Got a Wii Fit for my birthday last month, so that's added a bit of fun to my exercising. Look forward to keeping in touch with everyone.

I've noticed there are stories...
I'm not new to the site, have been using the app for a while, its great. I was dieting before that, but I feel much more focussed having the database and the community too. I have lost 123lbs over 3 years. I hope to reach my target this year, before my birthday, which is in March. I have 19 lbs to go...it's totally do-able.
I'm a total foodie! I figured out a few months ago that If I go the the gym and burn lots of calories i could eat more and still lose weight...which I like! I also actually really love going to the gym! so it works for me. I do all cardio (more or less) at the moment, but I'm seeing definition in my muscles too so its working all round. My favorite fitness class is body combat! It's amazing!
My favorite colour is pink.
I'm done : )0 -
OMG! Think I've fallin' into heaven with all these luscious females on here. :-)
Am I the only blokie on here then???
I'm a single grandad, yup, 2 sons and 3 grand daughters. I've been a runner for 20 years, but, after a serious back injury 10 years ago, my weight has steadily increased to 4 stones over my race weight. Need to get that off. I still run, but, it is more 'jogging' these days.
Last year I did 92 training runs covering over 500 miles in 85 hours 37 minutes!!! According to the data I also burned 68,088 calories!!! Yet I'm still over 16 stone :-(
With the help of this site I hope to get that weight down, it makes running easier too.
Incidently, I spent 3 hours this morning correcting the data on the foods I've eaten over the past week. There are lots of inaccuracies, especially with Sodium. i found many were upto 500x the actual content. People have been putting the decimal point in the wrong place giving a false reading. It really shows up if you PRINT the days list onscreen as it gives much more detail. I've seen the Sodium running into thousands for just one day, clearly an error. Worth checking the details. Grrrrrrrr.......
Cheers

Hi guys!
I'm Squeaky from Birmingham and I'm hoping to lose about 60 lbs to get down to 150 lbs. I'm purposely not converting it to stones because I feel like if I did, I would lose heart because it seems like such a small weight to me. In pounds I'm not exactly sure what it equates to so I feel less intimidated Don't worry, 150 lbs is in the healthy range for my height (5ft 10in) so it should be doable!
I really want to lose weight because I play in a band and that involves a lot of socialising and I suppose some exhibitionism (you're putting yourself out there!) and I have totally lost my confidence after gaiing all this weight. I'm finding that I find social situations difficult because I feel fat so I tend to avoid them and it's leading into a bit of a vicious circle of not really seeing my friends which is very sad!
I think that's about it! Feel free to add me as a friend and we can keep each other motivated0 -
Hi Kate_Uk,
Thanks for that - I'll have a look on Amazon at the Jillian Michaels DVD's. I've always been slightly put off by some of the stories I hear of how hard she works you - but I like to think I'm reasonably fit and active so got to be wortth a go! I've not got weights - wondering if I could use the resistance bands that came with the Wii Sports Active.
So Amazon here I come....
I haven't opened my EA active yet and have never used a resistance band so can't imagine whether it would work or not. I have done the shred though and it is amazing and give amazing results. It only takes 20 mins a day too, so its easily doable. I normally burn around 250 cals for the 20mins. I bought small weights from argos, think they were £2. 99. I shall get back to you on the resistance band thing as I am aiming to start the wii thing today0 -

Hello, I'm from Northumberland and have just finished my first week of healthier eating and exercise. Wasn't the best start due to a few post Christmas events but now I feel I'm ready to give it a proper go and get back into a normal routine.
I'm trying to cut out all the crap - crisps, chocolate, cakes etc and do daily exercise, even if it is just a walk with the dogs or a few minutes on the stepper/bike.
I have a stone to lose and maybe a little more.
I'm glad there is a little corner for us Brits as its easier to relate to people who use the same food & shops.
I'm just starting to collect friends so feel free to add me if you like.

Hi folks,
Great to see a UK thread. I'm in West Lothian near Livingston. Joined MFP late last year as with so many turning 40 and realising your body is not as young or as fit as the mind, really is a wake up call.
I really like the idea of talking in stones, good traditional stones. Just getting my head round the conversion in my head over kgs as my son has no idea about imperial units as brussels took that element out of primary school tuition.
It's also good to see some chaps on this thread as it can be a bit daunting posting at first and I'm sure there are many other male lurkers (that did not sound good did it!) who should take the leap and join in.
I've got to be honest I'm not sure how the friends support thing works, but I'm sure if you have someone giving a bit encouragement it would be very beneficial. Feel free to add me.0 -
hey all Im from the uk also, i only started on saturday and have a long way to go, pls feel free to add me, thanks charlie.0

Hello everybody....
My name is Sally and I live in West Berkshire, I joined this site late last year but unfortunatley did not use properly and am now heavier than I was then! Am determined however to turn this around, am 5'3'' and currently 177.5lb - I aim to get to about 150.00lb and then have a good look and see what still needs to be done!
My main focus is fitness as I need to try and keep up with my husband who has recently found a love for Marathon running, I tried running last year but badly strained my acchilies (which was when I put on weight again). I am currently concentrating on Walking my 2 dogs and working out on the Wii, was really enjoying the EA Active 2 until the motion sensors stopped working on me this week-end- Have left my husband on the case here as he brought it for xmas then lost the receipt! (oops).
Anyway wonderful to see so many other Brits on this site!0 -
Hi,
I'm from Lancashire, been using MFP for a week, and managed to lose 3lb. Aiming to loose a stone in total, and ideally at leat half a stone and tone up a bit before I hit the big 40 next month.
