Why does pizza have to have so many calories?

As in all food, moderation. Fit it in to your calorie intake.

We really like Papa Murphy's delite with veggies. We don't really miss the meat, but if you can not live without it, just allow for it.

Giving up the foods you like, at least for me, is not sustainable.

So sad to see people can't just allow themselves to eat pizza.

So many posts strike me as sad.Give everyone credit for trying. It takes a whole lot of learning to
lose wt.The 1st few wks can be easy, but a different story when the body says,"No way!!"

A couple slices of pizza with salad is only one meal.
Keeping track of all food that day .....every day, will let you see that. Good luck.

To be honest, I always think that pizza is a bargain at only 250 calories per slice for thin crust. :)

My vote - go for the real stuff and have a slice with a salad.

That's fine if you only want one slice...

I want a pizza. All of it lol. I just work around it OP.

ETA: most pizza slices in the US are a lot bigger than in the UK, so this isn't as greedy as it sounds!

I started making pizza crust out of cauliflower and it's very tasty and helps to cut calories. Here is the recipe that I used: http://mealsandmovesblog.com/2012/03/05/try-something-new-cauliflower-crust-pizza/

There are tons of variations out there. But this one is really good.

Check to see if there is a Pie Five restaurant in your area. They make individual pizzas that are usually 600 calories or less for the whole thing, depending on what toppings you pick.

Good pizza is worth spending the calories on, IMHO.

For those in the UK, Pizza Express is amazing. My go to restaurant choice is around 415 calories (admittedly the middle has been cut out and replaced with salad) and 1/2 a store bought version is only 290.

Now, if I eat just 1/2 of a pizza from my favourite takeaway - I'll gain several pounds. I miss that pizza an awful lot - I think it's been 3 months! - but I'm making better choices and still getting a doughy cheesy fix. Pizza per se isn't bad for you. It's just some brands of pizza that are the devil.

I am a huge pizza fan as well, so what I have been doing, which works out really well is to make my own pizza and instead of crust use a portabella mushroom. If you take 6 of them and put them in a pan with some spray oil, then add sauce and sprinkle some cheese and veggies, etc. on it, bake it for about 35 minutes at 350. It tastes delicious (so much so I have been able to get 3 of my kids to ASK for it) and it reheats really well so it is great to take for lunches too! Good Luck!

I just bought a bunch of giant portabellas at Costco yesterday. Might even be able to get my husband to eat them if I make them this way. I won't think of it as pizza, because it isn't, but it might be a yummy way to fix the mushrooms.
