I started at a 44/46DD, So far I have lost 30lbs and I have noticed that my more comfortable bras are starting to have space in the cups, especially those that are lightly padded, those that fit a little more snug have become more comfortable, the 46 I have stopped wearing as they are riding up under my arms and the straps are falling off. Maybe in another 20lbs I will definitely have to buy.
I never really had back ache in relation to my boobs, but jumping is difficult in regular bras but not so bad in a good sports bra! Good luck
  • Like most of you ladies, I have not seen much of a reduction in cup size, but for sure in band size. Been a DD since I was 11, and its funny because every time I start losing weight people say I'm gonna lose my boobs....hahah, never happens and I've lost 90 lbs. I think a lift would be great once I lose down to my goal, which is 26 more lbs. Thanks to all the ladies who shared the website for the sports bras. There are surely exercises that I struggle with because they cause me physical pain and discomfort. Good luck to us all!!!

band size yes. cup size no. but i expected that when i was last at my goal weight i was a 28JJ, gaining 70 pounds only added 6 inches to my ribcage measurement so i'm pretty much predisposed to have small ribcage and full rack

i never had back pain even when i was 120 pounds and huge boobs....but then again i've always had good posture. maybe work on your posture, especially if you work at a desk. shoulders away from your hears and back, engaged core, chest up and out.

also enell is a good choice for sports bras if you have larger band size but they dont have much option for those with smaller bands/large cups. i save my enells for low impact stuff. other sports bras i like panache, goddess, elomi, and shock absorber. the panache and shock absorber are very good for high impact and even for sprinting, i find that they reduce practically all of the bounce

It took me 35ish pounds to feel like I should remeasure wear a different size.

Graduated high school (ahem, 17 years ago) at a 34B. Graduated college at a 36C. Now I'm a 38HH. I've had a +/- 40 lb fluctuation over the past two years- this is the largest they've been during that time. I'd gone down to a 36F at one point. It's all very dependent on each person. I'm pretty confident that when I reach my goal weight (in 100+ lbs) I'll likely be down quite a bit. I'd be happy resting around a 36D/DD.

I usually get re-measured every 25-30 lbs or so.

I also have rather large norks and would love them to be smaller, however I have a feeling they're only going to get flatter and longer :/.

That's what happened to mine. And when I gained the weight back, they stayed flatter and longer. Age will do that. So, on the rare occasion I do wear a regular bra, I'm a wrinkled-cup-half-full 46D -- Cs and Bs don't do any better. An athletic bra seems to be the only solution -- on those rare occasions I do wear a bra. Ah, the joys of being a retired aging hippy! I'm buying a new sports bra to "dress up" for my nephew's wedding so my 91 year old mother won't be embarassed to sit with me. I figure as we do better than Lisa Minelli braless at the Oscars we'll be fine.

Although I recognize that many busty women have problems with bad backs etc. there are also many of us that recognize that this can be managed or avoided through various methods including losing weight, strengthen muscles, maintaining good posture etc. (Things that have many other benefits). I also find that good bras and not wearing high heels too often helps. I think that there are still some people that will need a reduction no matter what they try and if so, they should go for it.

However, it isn't a forgone conclusion. I'm a 34h and I actual had someone say to me that their cousin had a reduction and I should too since I will feel so, so much better. I never once complained to this person about problems due to my bust size. Frankly my health is great and if I had thousands of dollar to spare I would travel more. Sorry for the rant but I would recommend that you see what happens after you lose weight. streghten your muscles, etc. and reaccess the situation.

You will lose weight in your bust just as you lose weight everywhere else. It depends on how much you lose. I went from a 42 g to a 36 F. I still have more weight to lose, so I am sure I will continue to lose it everywhere.

The best!! for any athletic endeavour!

I only was as large as a 38D, and probably a 36C now, but as an equestrian, these bras were a boob saver!!!

I always thought I was huge....I didn't even know some of these sizes existed.
At 230 lbs I was a 36/38 DDD and was busting out, pardon the pun. Thankfully after a 85 lbs loss I was down to a 36 D. I think I could go to a C if it weren't for all the extra skin. I am happy with that loss, just wish my girls weren't so sad, they're always dragging the bottom of the barrel with out some support! LOL

Losing weight has reduced my back size, so my band has gone down and cup size gone up. I don't think my breasts are any smaller, but because I work out, my posture is better and thus my backache reduced. It's not weight loss that has helped, it's been going to the gym.

Of course, I have a really expensive specialist sports bra. I managed to gym it without a proper one for a while but when I took up running, I had to shell out, the bounce too was painful. Totally worth the money!

Before I lost I was a 44 D. My cup size has not went down but my band size sure has by 6 inches. Before even though I am top heavy you could not tell because my belly was so big lol.

Mine get smaller when I lose weight but they are still proportional to my body.

Bra shopping is still a PITA.

I've lost 39 pounds and went from a band width of 36 to 32 but cup size is still the same. I've never had any back problems but I think my hips help to keep everything right.

I started noticing a big change in the way my bras fit. I've always been a D to DD cup and one day I put on a bra that was as D and it was really loose. For me personally I've noticed a change in size there although I haven't tried on smaller bra sizes yet. I suppose it is a good thing though.

I bought 2 new bras at the weekend. My previous size was 40K. My new bras are 36J. I was doing a happy dance at the till - I'm sure the shop assistant thought I was a lunatic! Big boobs are a pain in the neck (literally and metaphorically). I'm guessing I've really reduced 3 cup sizes, adding up 2 x band sizes and 1 x cup. Roll on the 36ds' is all I have to say!

I really hope I don't get kicked off of MFP for this one, (LOL) but I'm calling out all of the Dolly's. :D I want to know if anyone (DD or larger) successfully reduced their bra size, and how many pounds did you lose, before you had to go bra shopping for a smaller cup size? Also, did losing weight alleviate back pain, and was it difficult for you to exercise? I carry a lot of weight "up top", and it causes me a lot of pain. After a day of being out and about, I return home with shoulder, neck, and lower back pain. It's also extremely difficult for me to do certain exercises that I'd really like to try (jogging, jumping rope, etc.) Any advice? SERIOUSLY considering a reduction, but I feel like it may be pointless if I can just lose weight and reduce their size. :( Ladies, if you experience these issues with sizes below DD, I'd like your feedback as well.

My wife actually went up a cup size (D to DD) .. the band size shrunk faster than the uhhh .. cup filler .. as she lost weight ..

I've lost 70lbs and was sure I shrunk so I went bra shopping this weekend. I got a professional fitting because I had hoped to go from my 46DDD to a 44DD or 42DD and I wasn't quite sure which to buy. I was surprised to find that I needed a 44H! I have no idea how she did it, but the saleswoman managed to push my back fat and the loose skin from my sides all into the cups of the bra! I think she even got some of my saggy "chicken wing triceps" in there too - lol. My back was nice and smooth, but the front was like the bow of a ship. I bought the bra, but I'm too self conscious to wear it for work or everyday wear. I'll save it for dinner out with the hubby and just get a platex cross your heart for work like I usually wear. They my hang low, but at least my breasts won't be entering a room 1/2 hour before the rest of me!

I started out at a 42G (UK), lost 85 lbs and now wear a 34HH (UK). Yes, the discomfort gets less! However, if I gain 5 lbs, 4 of it goes back to the chest! :noway:

    Good luck!

I feel your pain! I am a small framed woman and have a 36DD sometimes DDD (Vicky's secret tries to make you feel better by giving you a bigger size. FAIL!) Due to my size, I do not run. HATE RUNNING and have to wear 2 sports bras at the gym. Unfortunately I do not lose weight in my chest and mine did not deflate after having 3 children. I think everyone is different and lose weight in different areas. It cant be predicted. I lose it in my behind and lord knows I dont have any extra to lose there. Squats it is! As for the reduction, I've considered it but insurance wouldn't pay for it unless I went to a B cup..NOPE! So, I'm just gonna be proud to sport what i have and if it keeps me from running, so be it. There are other exercises.

I had a breast reduction many years ago and it was the best thing I ever did, besides having my children. I had it done several years after my son was born and I had gained a lot of weight when I was pregnant with him. I had not lost very much, but I weighed less then I do now.

I am at a 36DD now, and I do notice that my bras are fitting a little better. I don’t really expect to lose cup size, though I would not mind loosing a band size or two.

I was a FF and have only lost 25 pounds, yet my bras are all really baggy in the cups and are on the tightest notch on the band. Going shopping next month :D

I am size 38E. When I loose weight, I do not loose any boobs :(. I am actually in the process of getting approval from my insurance company for a breast reduction. Im really hoping this works.

I think that it depends on how small you were at your thinnest.

Example: At my thinnest, I was a 32/34 C. I doubt I can get much smaller than that ever. At my largest I was a 38DD. After losing 25 lbs, I switched to a 38D. I wear a 36D strapless bra. I am maybe 5 lbs from wearing a 36D in every day life.
  • I'm 55 years old. Two years ago I weighed 267 and was a 38 - G cup or as big as they could find. Doing WW i got down to 200 lbs and then fell off the wagon and was back to 230 a year ago. Then July last year I had a gastric sleave and now I'm around 180-185 today. My breast are deflated and I got so frustrated with the bra shop I have used for years as they kept putting me in the same size bra (new sizer hired). I found an old Geni bra I had ordered online several years ago to try and it didn't fit at the time. Low as behold it was a miracle that it fit and held me conformatably. Now that's all I wear. I have bought probably 10 of them this past year as they are easy to was a wear. I buy the 1x (not the XL). I also get the one with the little lace cami look attached to it. This one gives the the best support. It keeps the girls in the right place and mashed down enought that I can wear a Large top in the regular section (no more 3 X's for me!)

I never wanted a breast reduction as I was afraid then I would look fatter in the middle. Truth is.. I looked fat no matter what because I was fat. I am still fat by most standards, but for me, I'm comfortable and hopeing to be in the 170's soon.

Hi Im losing weight for the 2nd time in my life. The first time I was 188lbs DD cups, I got down to 125lbs and to a C cup. I had a lot of back pain before but when I lost the weight as well as cup sizes, my back pain stopped completely! since I've gained all that weight back 15yrs later I also have terrible back pain again. Everyone's different but weightloss solved all my problems.
