I believe in the science of it all. That's what helped me a couple years ago.
I am at 1230 calories a day now. We'll see how that goes. I had been at 1400 for about 5 months and nothing was happening.

What I want you to do is go back and read all of the posts that made you so butthurt back at the first because for some reason you thought people were criticizing you.
Once you've read and absorbed the information in those threads, and really... really taken all of that in to effect... then make those changes as applicable.
Seriously. Go back. Read.
Separate whatever emotions you have towards the advice and the people giving it. All the answers to all of the questions, outside of your medical issues, are already in this thread.

I must have been accurate the 2 years before my surgery. I lost weight quickly. Doing the same now and losing nada. That is my frustration.
I'll see what happens with a month or 3 of diligently weighing.

Yup. Because my lifting is calculated into my TDEE. So I eat the same amount every day. I don't worry about logging exercise, I don't worry about calorie burns. It's a little different than the MFP way. I like the TDEE way because of that, because MFP, machines and a lot of things over-estimate calorie burns.0 -

So then, the big, stupid question is: Once I start back at the gym religiously like I do during the school year and we're not on vacations, etc...do I eat those calories back? (don't stone me!) Because honestly, I read so much about yes and no. When I don't eat them back, MFP tells me i'm not eating enough...but when I do eat some of them back, I don't lose.
Eating back exercise calories can be tricky. How you calculate a calorie burn can vary depending on which source you use. Do you use what MFP says, or what the machine says, or do you have a heart rate monitor, or...or...or...??? So many variables.
Start with eating back about 50% of your workout calories and see how that works for you. That is, unless you plan to go with the TDEE method and just don't worry about exercise calories. Either way, you need to be flexible and take the time to do any adjustments. Also, you will need to be patient to make sure that your results are sustained results and not just over the course of one or two weeks. Give yourself a month or two, assess, recalculate, wash, rinse, repeat.0 -

I love my fitbit one. I even created a spreadsheet to help me with my calculations. I'm a math nerd.
My friend didn't like the flex because if you swing your arm it logs it as steps.

FitBits are AWESOME! So much data, it's so useful for me. I have the One. It helps me track my average TDEE over time. And my sleep!0 -

The flex is like a bracelet, and needs to be charged every 5 days or so. The Zip has a battery so you just replace it every 6 months. I use my flex, because I don't forget to put it on like I did with the zip. its just always on my wrist.You can shower with it on, too. It tracks sleep (which the zip doesn't) and it has silent alarms you can use to wake you up in the AM.

LOL It's like the Wii fit...my kid learned if she shakes the remote, the Mii runs. hahaha...cheating! (that was for she who said the friend didn't like it calculating an arm movement for a step.)

OP: I have the Fitbit One and love it!! I use to have the Zip and like that one also, but it doesn't keep track of sleep which I like on the One!!0

The OP was opening up to suggestions (most of which were good which is why I didn't feel the need to add anything else). To then castigate her after the fact for not being receptive "immediately" and/or in the timeframe deemed acceptable by you and the other poster just seems mean-spirited and unproductive.

Have you read the WHOLE thread? Where she disputed and said no, it wasn't possibly her logging that was wrong. She wasn't wrong.
No one here did anything to shame her. We take time out of our day to help people on here, and by her posts in the first few pages it was pretty clear she didn't really want help and advice. People then asked her what she wants to hear, what does she want. We've tried to advise her even though she wasn't answering simple questions and the answers would help her.
Sorry but being blunt honest =/= shaming
Calling them out =/= shaming
We're all adults and no one needs everything sugar coated. Often times sugar coating does more enabling than actually being helpful. Sometimes people need the blunt honesty and to hear what they don't want to in order to understand it.0 -

Is this post helpful in anyway? You're protecting all those that are afraid of posting questions and possibly getting good advice? Instead of criticizing those giving advice maybe start actually answering and giving help, we're all adults here I think they can protect themselves from the mean people.

Weight your food, OP, with a digital scale. That should help you. And track everything. Oh, and see your doctor to make sure there is nothing medically wrong with you.

I am googling digital scales...and will become a measuring cop. I just hope I don't have to measure and weigh everything forever. I want to live life and with the weighing and measuring that I do now, it really takes a toll on a lot around here. Eating is stressful and I hate that.
I will be weighing (digital scale) and keeping tract of my calories for the rest of my life. Why??? Because I don't want to go through this again and it's to easy to gain weight when you are not in control of what you are eating.
This. I will weigh and measure everything I eat for the rest of my life. It's just a part of my life now and since I don't ever want to do this again, that's the way it will stay.0 -

Digital food scale should be the main objective. You don't need a fitbit to lose weight. They are awesome and I love mine but if money is tight, get needs first, and wants later. You need a digital food scale. You don't need a fitbit0 -

it doesn't matter if you're logging... IF the logging isn't accurate.
If you aren't weighing your stuff, you aren't logging accurately... and if you're not logging accurately and you're not losing, then you're eating more than you think.

I just weighed every ingredient in my burrito.. yum - I log everything (everything, even 3 Ritz crackers at 11:00pm - with peanut butter - weighed)... Diary is open (to ridicule) and dang if I cant lose a pound. Oh wait, I dropped 29 in 6 weeks. Never mind.0 -
It's the scale. Throw it away! It doesn't tell you anything but what your entire body weighs. Move fast and lift heavy...if you can. Intervals where you go really fast then slow down, then back to really fast pushing past your comfort zone can and will help you break that plateau. Keep your eating the same if you feel you are 100% eating healthy. Lifting weights can do wonders....drinking almost a gallon of water daily, and consuming 100 grams of protein helped me past my struggling spot...I'm not an expert just throwing a few suggestions out there...measure your body by how your clothes fit and how you look naked not by some silly scale.0

I do believe men lose weight (on average) faster than women...and easier. No? Is that a myth? I dunno...my husband can drop 10 pounds by saying he's going to. haha!
I have done well today. Haven't gotten a scale yet...I'm going tonight when the kids go down to sleep. But...gotta start somewhere.
