Elliot Hulse did a step by step video on You tube on the proper way to do a deadlift

    ^^^ This!!
He has a lot of video's for DL's and squats he also has a channel called Strength Camp I think you'll find most of them there...

Elliot has some decent videos, if you can get through some of the BS tho. Some of the things he says can be ridiculous haha

To find your most natural squat position:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdWERbUBOc4 (most relevant part starts at 3:35)

After that, watch this to get the form down:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ME8gEN54Ao (it's a 5 part series - watch at least the first 3)

Edit: Well damn. Seems like everyone already beat me to the punch by recommending the elitefts series.

Indeed he does. Like making up stuff about muscle fibers to sell products.

For books, I already have NROWL4W & SS. What are some of the "go-to" videos online that you think do the best job of teaching a novice the correct form for squats & deadlifts?

I use the US Olympic Weightlifting teams training videos.

Johnny Candito or Elliot Hulse have great videos on teaching both. Elliot really gets into it. Elliot has a few videos on mobility as well. Make sure you are doing some mobility work. It will help your lifts. I just started a couple of weeks ago and it makes a big difference in my squat.

I watched a few of these videos and also recommend the Kelly Starret vids for hip stretches and hip opening exercises. I am revamping my squats due to poor form and i really want to be able to execute overhead squats in the future. Helped out great btw, yesterday was the first day i enjoyed leg day. Plus it was the most comfortable ive felt squatting and the lowest ive been able to get down.

Don't let how low he gets on squat make you feel bad LOL

Omar Isuf is another great YouTube resources

    Those^

    Another vote for these.

I also felt this video was helpful especially for having a consistent setup.

I highly recommend starting with bench squats. It's extremely useful for building form.

The best videos for squat and deadlift form are the ones you take of yourself and upload to Reddit Fitness or BodyBuilding.com and post for comments on your form.

Watching other people might give you a starting point, but letting others evaluate your form is the best thing to do.

    Thanks for these.

I watched 'your back is whack' 1 & 2 - I hyper extend and my mum is the opposite - good tips for both of us in this guy's video. Liked the bench one too, I've not been setting my shoulders up properly. Good stuff :)
