    Awesome! I love this thread. I'm late to the party, but have my own August Goal of 150 miles and this will help keep me motivated!

    I'm trying to log 150 miles in the month of August of Walking/jogging: I'm on pace, but will need some inspiration:

    8/1: 6.2 miles
    8/2: 6.2 miles
    8/3: 6/3 miles
    8/4: 6.2 miles
    8/5: 6.2 miles
    8/6: 6.2 miles

    37.2 miles down with 112.8 miles to go!
  • I'm just starting to exercise again (130 lbs to get rid of) and started walking 35 min. every other day beginning July 30. I'm going to up it to seven days a week starting today and try to increase time through the month. I strength train three days a week, too. Considering walking a 5K for my school on Aug. 30th...any thoughts on that?

    Monday 8/4 - 1 hour treadmill walk/jog
    Tuesday 8/5 - 35 minutes walking around the block on my lunch break. :)

    8/6 - 50 minutes on the treadmill, mostly 4mph

    I'm up for the August Walking Challenge! I walked 6.28 miles yesterday, and today I had 13,731 steps on my Fitbit (I wore it on my shoe as I biked 30 miles today! ) - this was a breakthrough for me...hadn't made it to 30 yet on my road bike...wonderful day & great feeling!:happy:

    I only had time for a quick 10 minute walk yesterday 8/7, but I added up my time and averaged 3mph

    4 hours and 25 min, approx. 12.75 miles

    Might be a bit more or less than that, because I've been walking outside with no sense of distance, but also walking/jogging at 4 mph for long stretches on the treadmill too... Still! Almost 4.5 hours in 8 days feels pretty good to me. :)

    Just saw this challenge, I'd love to join! I've been walking and have a goal of 40 mi this August ! Here's what I've walked so far.

    Joined the August step counting group too, but this one looks great too. My job has a one mile walking path around the property, so I have been trying to do the loop once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I also either walk 2 - 4.5 miles in the evenings when it cools off or I walk 9 holes of golf. I use mapmywalk to track everything except golfing. I've been trying to up my pace on my walks since right now i'm in the 21 minute range for a mile. However, pushing it much past 3 miles/hr causes my shin splints to flare up. Insoles to help with over pronation have helped, but I'm also getting some proper/better shoes fitted as well. Here's my results for August so far and can't wait to see what I end up at!

    I'm keeping track of my total miles walked in a day and miles in dedicated walks tracked with mapmywalk. For purposes of tracking my dedicated walking versus total walking in a day, I'm going to assign 2.5 miles per 9 holes to my golf outing. Probably a little under what I walk, but a nice round number.

    Aug 1: 6.4 total (hadn't started map my walk yet)
    Aug 2: 7.2 total / 4.34 walk + 2.5 golf = 6.84 dedicated
    Aug 3: 5.6 total / 1.15 walk + 2.5 golf = 3.65 dedicated
    Aug 4: 8.0 total / 6.34 dedicated
    Aug 5: 4.9 total / 1.87 dedicated
    Aug 6: 6.1 total / 3.12 dedicated
    Aug 7: 5.9 total / 4.07 dedicated
    Aug 8: 7.7 total / 4.04 walk + 2.5 golf = 6.54 dedicated
    Aug 9: 5.5 total / 5.00 golf

    Daily Total Average - 6.37 Miles
    Daily Dedicated Average - 4.87 Miles
    August total - 57.4 Miles

    vacation. I did keep up with my exercise so here it is for this month.
