That new Pharell song. Every time I hear it I want to just die.
That stupid Happy song? Whenever I hear it I get decidedly un-happy.
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth...0 -

Okay, seriously, "Lightning Crashes." Every time I hear it I want to jab myself with a used needle
It's ironic you said that song. I don't think about it often, but it breaks my heart. I don't know if any of you are old *kitten* like me, but we had this thing called "Channel One" that came on every morning in high school at the end of first period. I'll never forget, there were announcements one morning in May, and the last announcement was that one of my friends had passed away. She was 18 years old, and dead of a drug overdose. Immediately after that announcement Channel One came on, and Lightning Crashes was playing. I remember sitting in French II crying, thinking what a waste it was that such a beautiful soul was gone so young. Next year, it will be 20 years, and I'm still haunted by her death.0 -
Whiskey Lullaby... a little cheesy but strikes a personal note with me.
My first thought as well. But I think a lot of that is just how well done the video was. I have to go one of those from that weird period in the early 70s where they married upbeat melodies with truly depressing lyrics. Seasons in the Sun and Blind Man in the Bleachers are close, but this... Jesus...

My mom still plays this on vinyl.
Good grief, that's waaaayyyy worse than Seasons in the Sun! :sad:0 -

"Alone Again, Naturally" by Gilbert O'Sullivan
Song about being left at the altar and lonliness
"In a little while from now
If I'm not feeling any less sour
I promised myself to treat myself
And visit a nearby tower
And climbing to the top
Will throw myself off
In an effort to make it clear to who
Ever what it's like when you're shattered
Left standing in the lurch, at a church
Where people are saying
My God that's tough, she stood him up
No point in us remaining
May as well go home
As I did on my own
Alone again, naturally
To think that only yesterday
I was cheerful, bright and gay
Looking forward to, but who wouldn't do
The role I was about to play
But as if to knock me down
Reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch
Cut me into little pieces
Leaving me to doubt
All about God and His mercy
For if He really does exist
Why did He desert me
In my hour of need?
I truly am indeed
Alone again, naturally
It seems to me that
There are more hearts
Broken in the world
That can't be mended
Left unattended
What do we do? What do we do?
Alone again naturally
Now looking back over the years
And what ever else that appears
I remember I cried when my father died
Never wishing to hide the tears
And at sixty five years old
My mother, God rest her soul
Couldn't understand, why the only man
She had ever loved had been taken
Leaving her to start with a heart
So badly broken
Despite encouragement from me
No words were ever spoken
And when she passed away
I cried and cried all day
Alone again, naturally
Alone again, naturally"

Never let me go by Florence and the Machine, this is totally morbid but if I outlive all my friends as a little old lady and I get sick and tired... I'm gonna put on a sparkly evening gown and a waterproof MP3 player (or whatever crazy technology exists then) with this song playing and just swim out into the ocean and never come back.
Also Just Breath by Pearl Jam so many feels.0 -
