"Alone Again, Naturally" by Gilbert O'Sullivan

Song about being left at the altar and lonliness

"In a little while from now
If I'm not feeling any less sour
I promised myself to treat myself
    And visit a nearby tower

    And climbing to the top
    Will throw myself off
In an effort to make it clear to who
Ever what it's like when you're shattered

Left standing in the lurch, at a church
    Where people are saying
My God that's tough, she stood him up
    No point in us remaining

    May as well go home
As I did on my own
    Alone again, naturally

    To think that only yesterday
I was cheerful, bright and gay
Looking forward to, but who wouldn't do
The role I was about to play

But as if to knock me down
    Reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch
    Cut me into little pieces

    Leaving me to doubt
All about God and His mercy
For if He really does exist
    Why did He desert me

    In my hour of need?
    I truly am indeed
    Alone again, naturally

    It seems to me that
    There are more hearts
    Broken in the world
    That can't be mended

    Left unattended
What do we do? What do we do?

    Alone again naturally

Now looking back over the years
And what ever else that appears
I remember I cried when my father died
Never wishing to hide the tears

And at sixty five years old
My mother, God rest her soul
Couldn't understand, why the only man
She had ever loved had been taken

Leaving her to start with a heart
    So badly broken
    Despite encouragement from me
    No words were ever spoken

    And when she passed away
I cried and cried all day
    Alone again, naturally
    Alone again, naturally"

Never let me go by Florence and the Machine, this is totally morbid but if I outlive all my friends as a little old lady and I get sick and tired... I'm gonna put on a sparkly evening gown and a waterproof MP3 player (or whatever crazy technology exists then) with this song playing and just swim out into the ocean and never come back.

Also Just Breath by Pearl Jam so many feels.

Waitin on June by Holly Williams. The story of her grandparents' lifetime love, so both happy and sad, but I can't get through it, really listening to it, without crying. And seeing her perform live? Forget it, she starts her intro into it and I'm blubbering!!

This. I can't listen to it without bawling... I think every new parent should be forced to listen to it.

Chasing cars is a personal one for me.

    Screw you, "Concrete Angel"

The first time I heard that song, I had to pull over on the road I was crying so hard. I still can't even hear the first few lines without bawling.

The Rose - Bette Midler. Remember singing this in the school choir when at school.

How has no one said "Tears In Heaven" by Eric Clapton??? It's about his son who fell off an apartment balcony as a BABY and wondering if his son will remember him when he gets to heaven. Oh the feels

To a Sleeping Beauty -- Jimmy Dean

I recorded this song the day my Daughter was Born. I plan to give it to her on her 21st Birthday. (Less than 2 months)

I still get choked up every time I hear it.

"Nothing Compares To You" by Sinead O'Connor has been breaking my heart since 1990. My sentimental middle school self must've connected with it then for some reason...

"Why" by Rascal Flatts was played at my 16-year old cousin's funeral last year... he committed suicide. I can't get past the first line without tears streaming down my face...
