1000 pound club

After looking up what a sumo squat was because it seems like we have different definitions of what that is, I needed to ask a question.
Why would you not count a lift if you are moving it through the correct range of motion?
In powerlifting terms, which this thread seems to be more geared toward that, you just have to have your hip joint below your knee at the bottom then back to the top without dropping the bar or moving your feet once they are set. If your sumo squats allow you to complete the lift based on that criteria, then your lift would count.
I'm all for going ATG in the right context, but in this instance, I think that it wouldn't be necessary.
The 1000 pound club I think is a little made up. There is no medals no list of people in it.
It like
but more would rather join the former.
As for what is the difference if it is still ROM. My comment was basic off sumo squats being easier then traditional squats. I recommended stiff leg deadlift to balance.0 -
Bench 255
Deadlift 435
Squat 3350 -
I'm counting those squats then, I got below parallel and that was just fine for me.
Dear god my *kitten* hurts today.0 -

I used one of those file when I got home. My home is full of trimmers no razors. LOL0 -
I think I have the skin of an 80 year old. My calluses just tear off.
They're delicious with a little vinegar and black pepper though.0 -
Put up 225 for 5 on bench today. The last two reps were bloody ugly, but I got the lockout.
Revised total:
1,035.
I have a feeling I'm right around my bench max. It can't be too much further from where I'm at now.0 -

No 3 plates quest?0 -
Lol. I just got 2 plates. It would be great if Santa brought my *kitten* a 3 plate bench though.0

225 for 5 is pretty imprssive- I bet you'r pushing 250 for 1 rmp. I can rep out like 145/150 or so- right around 160 I start to struggle with reps- and my max is 185.
so I bet you can put on 245-250 and get it done.0 -
My glass of bourbon tells me that it's ok to write my uncensored response.
Instead I shall say, "That would be very cool."
250# would be bananas.0 -
1221 total in comp at 181lbs. Raw with knee wraps.
Squat: 462
bench: 231 (can't bench)
DL: 528
Can't do **** at the moment though. Clavicle injury. One arm db bench press :laugh:0 -
that squat and dl is magnificent.0

Thanks
I was happy to make the 2.5x bw squat and 3x bw DL as I weighed in at 80kg that comp.0 -
Be aware, I'm straight up jealous.0

The thing I notice with those calculators is it just does not work so well. The day I bench 185x10 I would try 225 and fail all the time. It also happen for my friend so we just throw away that and started doing max for real.0 -

Bench: 405
Squat: 495(x8.... i don't squat for less than 8 reps due to an injury)
Deadlift:405(see squat note)0 -
good work man.
225 is the magic number, once i could use that weight for 3 sets of 12 cold i started pushing heavier after my injury.... now sets of 12, 12, 20+ happen easily0 -

The closer you get to a 1RM the closer the calculators are. 5 reps is the highest I'll go when trying to estimate. 3 reps gives a better estimation, but there's no replacing the true 1 rep max. I just recently tested all mine in the last 2 weeks for the first time ever and found the calculators to be a good starting point, but definitely not "true"
Calc => Actual
Squat 325 => 365
Bench 214 => 235
DL 375 => 3850 -
So I did 225x5 overhead no thumb grip. I was surprised.0
-
I will add thumbless grip deadlifts to my workouts.0

Squat - 280
Deadlift - 365
Bench - 305
Almost there. Been doing Wendler 5/3/1 for about a month. Squats are super weak. One day at a time.0 -

Great Job! I've heard a lot of good stuff about 5/3/1.0 -
The grip question on deadlifts intrigued me so I tried it out today.
I was able to work up to 345 with double overhand, but couldn't hold 395. My all time PR is 440 but most recently was 425.0 -
cedwardscadd, lookin4gains. Guys, both amazing numbers.
I'm hoping for the 225 for reps mark, then I hope to pound the hell out of that and test the defenses gravity has established around a three plate bench.0 -
I'm female and a member of the 600 club (60% of 1000- typical scale for a female), so I'm pretty please!
303 lb. deadlift
213 lb. back squat
115 lb. bench0 -
My Callus also suck. They burn trying to squeeze that bar.
This callus remover rocks.

Although, I've gotten *kitten* over it looking similar to an eye lash curler. Then you can bust out, DYELB.0
