I hear you Dym! I was thinking just the same thing today during my workout... ;-)
Man, yesterday was hard - I swear someone had switched my legs with someone elses! Today was tough but nowhere near as tough as that.
Well done Benjikan! I'd heard that the two together were a nightmare, so well done for doing them both. I think I'm going to chicken out and do the Fit test the day before.... Just got to finish week 4 of month 1 first. ;-)
And welcome Kaylaw! I can't imagine how hard it must be to carve out time when you have a little one demanding attention. However, taking time for yourself and your own fitness will ultimately benefit the baby, so keep it up as and when you can!
Paul - Grandpa? Seriously? I would have put your profile pic and analysis at a 30yo!
3.6 mile dog walk just done, now for some mowing before getting down to some sewing.. Oh my, I know how to spend a day off! :-D0 -
Hi RevGil! Yep 10 grandkids with # 11 due any day. I had to pull my MFP profile down as I saw it erroneously gave me a birthdate which made me 31 or so. Not true! I'll be 58 in November, which shows that age alone isn't an obstacle to insanity! We've got my youngest daughter and kids with us probably through January while her husband is on overseas assignment. With my 92 year old dad living with us too, it makes for an interesting dinner table event each day! Enjoy your day off.0

Completed insanity max recovery. Time to get ready for a business trip for the rest of the day.

I've kept pressing play everyone...sorry I haven't been online much. I missed my workout on Saturday due to our annual inventory count at work but I worked out Sunday morning and then did my Sunday workout on Sunday night...I was a bit sore after that and definitely felt it during last night's workout. Oh well, short term pain, long term gain!
I'll have to post my measurements soon but the quick snapshot is (in 2 weeks):
Waist - lost 1.5 inches
Hips - lost 1 inch
Butt - lost 1 inch
Super pleased with these results - the before and during pictures are pretty awesome too!
Keep pressing play, can't wait to see what Month 1's results look like0 -

Is the calorie change helping yet? Sounds like things are going great!0 -
Can I join in? i bought Insanity and Im challenging myself to complete it. Im starting it at 285lbs! Im on day 5 of week 1 and so far Im still in it to win it. Day 2 and 3 were a total pain in the *kitten*, but Im finding by today...Im not nearly in as much pain. Im feeling encouraged that maybe I AM doing something. So far my only goal with Insanity is to be able to keep up with Shaun T by Day 63. I do modify some moves as to not...you know....kill myself but for the most part, I do the full moves but very slowly compared to the video. But I tell myself Im competing with myself, not the experts on the video.
If I lose 20 lbs Ill be incredibly happy.0 -

Sure Swan, glad to have you! Ibuprofen and some workouts with a foam roller work wonders for those early program pains. Make sure you are using court or cross training shoes and not running shoes with this program. Other than that, just keep pressing play and doing your best at a pace you can handle. This program is capable of reducing 20 pounds if you follow the program and eat properly. I encourage you to check in every day here with your accomplishments and challenges. Even if you feel like you are talking to your self the discipline of daily reporting is a critical part of changing your life to get the results you want. Good luck!0 -
Wow J_L - There'll be nothing left of you! I too am interested to hear whether the increased calories are working... I need to take more notice of my measurements. I'm getting disheartened that the scale (and BF monitor integrated into the scales) aren't moving - however at the last count I'd lost 3" and I'm sure I've lost more. Certainly I can take off my jeans without undoing them (which makes a belt a must! - Oh, and I've gone in a notch on the belt too... :-D) But for some reason (ok, 1 reason - that this has always been my way of measuring success) I feel I'm not achieving anything. Stupid I know... Just thought I'd share.
Anywho, welcome Swan! It's great to have newbees on the thread as it keeps us all accountable! It sounds like you are doing great, with a very sensible attitude towards the workout. Just be sure to measure yourself otherwise you'll end up like me complaining above ;-)
Ooo, btw Paul - sounds manic at your house with all those peeps. But great that you have your extended family all around you. However, how do you find the time and space to do insanity?!!!!
Finished the last Cardio Recovery of Month 1. Two more workouts, a rest day then recovery week. Eek!
Keep pressing play y'all!0 -
Thanks for sharing this idea over here, there are many women who want to reduce their lbs, and for them this plays as a motivational step for you.0

Rev, diet management is an active science. You need to recalculate targets periodically, but, more importantly, you need to make adjustments if things aren't working right. The target formula I shared earlier in this thread is just a starting point. I still make 200 calorie per day adjustments to start or stop doing good or bad things. For example if nothing is happening and I still want weight to go down I subtract 200 calories and see how it goes for a week or so. Still nothing, I drop another 200 and watch for a couple weeks. Eventually something will happen! Conversely if I am dropping weight, but suddenly see I'm losing lean mass instead of fat I will tweak my macros to add more protein ( if it's been low) or go back up 200 calories. Weight loss is not a spectator sport, you have to be engaged and actively managing it to get the results you want.0 -
Insanity max cardio conditioning and cardio abs. On the road again shortly!

I recommend you just let it go and not redo the workout. You gave it your best shot, now let your body recover and build. Doubling up these workouts is a great way to get hurt.0 -
I am looking for some people to do Insanity with. I live in SF near Nob Hill / Tenderloin. Maybe we can meet at a park or gym and do it.
Also, I am looking for someone to lift weights. There is a free gym at Washington/Mason.0 -
Hi all, I just started Insanity on 9/27 so I am on Day 5 (Pure Cardio) tonight. I am like others where I started before but never finished. I also wasn't following the diet plan before so not happy with results. Anyhow I am following the diet so far (I will be modifying with my own food after I get the hang of it in a couple weeks) but I find there to be way more carbs than I have been eating. I just completed a weight lifting program, so I plan on doing a weight workout once a week with what ever insanity workout I have on either Saturday or Sunday. What percentages are people eating for carbs now? I was trying to keep it at 40/40/20 (carb/protein/fat) before but I find myself drifting to 50% carbs. I hope I can stick with the program for the whole 60 days this time. Substituting my own music seems to help me get through the workouts though.0
-
I'm a bit carb heavy on my diet too, I hover around 40-45 carbs, 35-40 protein and 15-20 fat. Seeing results and not losing muscle so pretty happy to continue like that for now - but it's always worth monitoring the situation as diet needs tweaking the closer to goal you get.
First Max recovery session today, gotta say I was surprised at how much arm/chest work there was - nice change, but pretty tough going toward the end!0 -
Completed insanity core cardio and balance with my grandson's help. you can see my Polar Beat app tracking the endeavor!

Your grandson is just too cute! Love the fact that he was 'helping'!
Further to my last - I've lost another lb! And the measurements have gone right down (about 3 inches, which is 6 in total since I started Insanity :-D ) so, many thanks for the advice Paul - I agree with you, however in this instance I think I was worrying unnecessarily!
Last workout of month 1 done. Rest day tomorrow then the recovery week :-D
Keep pressing play!

Yay Swan!!!! Keep chugging away and doing your best everyday. Today, the scale was your friend. Next week it could be the way your pants fit, your measurements or just how much easier it is to put your socks on in the morning. Just keep pressing play. You are well on your way to getting in the best shape of your life if you keep doing what ShaunT tells you to do. Way to go! ????0 -

Wave your hands in the air if your a true player! :drinker: I JUST FINISHED Round 1 of Insanity!!!
Yay me!!!
The last 2 weeks have been hard. My ankle was sore, my feet were tired (etc), but it was super productive. My lower back/love handles have felt a huge overhaul in the last couple weeks. In fact, that stubborn micro-tire around my mid section has seen the most improvement which is ideal. In total, I've lost about 3% body fat. Everything is more defined and my fitness has improved greatly, all of which is great.
Here's my take on Insanity. First of all, I liked the program. I will be doing other rounds of it in the future. That said, it IS tough on joints. My feet have been sore for 2 months now. Also, it can get extremely repetitive. I found that I could no longer stand listening to the cues on the DVD and opted to turn the volume way down and turn my own music way up. This made the repetition far more palatable. Also, I'm super into good form when executing an exercise. I feel like if your not doing proper form whats the point. Nonetheless, it did annoy me how the pro's on the workouts slacked off 80% of the time on their form. I mean, yay good for you, you can keep up with the exercise while doing an 8th of a squat. Personally, I'd rather engage my muscle groups and do a full parallel squat, suffer the full burn, and NOT be able to keep up with the pro's that are knocking out partial squats like gang-busters. But, don't get me wrong, the pro's were amazing. I like in max interval when the b-boy, Jeff, does that victory backspin and nearly knocks out the blond girl; the look she gives him is to die for!
All in all, I was planning to do another round of Insanity immediately following this one, BUT, my body and mind need something else right now. So, I'm going to do my first ever round of classic P90X after a recovery week of core cardio and balance, running, bikram. I'm excited to get on the Tony Horton bandwagon!!!
PS, @pauldoxsee, that photo is the sweetest, totally adorable!
keep pushing play everyone, you can do it!0 -
Yay Victorian the insanity victor! I really haven't had a sore foot problem so far in insanity. However, as the grandson photo illustrates, I predominantly work on a relatively thick unpadded area rug in my workouts.
You will like p90x and should be very prepared for it. You will find yoga way too long, ab ripper brutal and Kenpo to be a love it or hate it. Pullups might be a challenge. I was lousy at them in x and x2, but finally got serious about them and mastered them in x3. I ended up having the best pullup workouts with a ceiling mounted bar. I started with a door frame model, migrated to a free standing beast and finally went to the ceiling with x3. I was totally assist dependant until I decided to go unassisted in x3 and finally got some muscle build up to show for the pullup effort. I did all of the body beast pullups unassisted too, which was very rewarding. Good luck with your next workout!0 -

Congrats on week2! You are more disciplined than I am. I weigh every morning ( it's electronically tracked by fitbit and maps to MFP), but only do formal tape and body fat (caliper) measurements weekly. 1.5 inches is fabulous!0 -
Completed insanity max interval plyo. Fun.
