October Walking Challenge 2014

This is continued from previous Walking Challenges, but it’s nice when each month has its own thread.

*** Anyone can join in at any time. The more the merrier, let’s keep each other motivated****

Walking seems like the easiest way to start getting exercise, and even if you can't track distance (or don't want to), tracking time is good too...go for a 10 min walk after dinner, or up it to 30 minutes, you'll be amazed at the end of the month how much more exercise your getting in. :)

Check in everyday with how far you walked or how long, this is just to motivate us to get in at least some exercise every day, and keep an eye on each other.


I want to try to keep this mostly to walking or walking type exercising. Treadmills and elliptical are A-OK.

Hope to see some more faces in this challenge; we'll start tracking October 1st.

    Hey! I made it almost 30 miles in September, and I am shocked! Though that did include a few miles on my bike. Is it okay to include biking in here? If so, I'm going to shoot for 40 miles this month. If not, I may have to lower that to 30-35 miles.

    With 15 minutes of September to go I managed 100 miles in September. Must keep this up. Here's to another 100 in October.

  • I did not meet my goal in September. I am in again for October. My goal is to run a 5K. But I have to start with walking. I tried to alternate walking and running last month, but I am so bad at running that I hurt my knee and now I have to rest first before I can walk again. Anybody with any advice?

    I'm new here as a whole, but... I think something like this will really motivate me to walk more! It's an activity I've always enjoyed. :flowerforyou:

    I'm off to a good start. I walked two hours at my treadmill desk at work (slow walking), I walked to the store to and then walked four miles after work with a friend. So today in total I walked about three and a half hours!

    So that's about six miles on day one.

    Hi glad to find this thread. I did the September running challenge and walked every mile. :laugh: So I walk with my DH most days. Our goal for October is 60 miles.

    Not sure how we record on the same page of thread or even if that is possible. So if you do know the answer please send me a message.
