1 month in and I am SICK OF CHICKEN

Help me...I am sick of chicken and it has only just begun. I am a terribly picky eater (meat, potatoes and bread are all I want). I have found there are too many calories in beef of any variety when you only get 1300 cals per day.....can somebody help. I am ready to cry cause I am sick of chicken.

do you like any fish at all? i eat a lot of chicken BUT if you put it into different recipes it's not so bad. Chicken fajitas, chicken parmiagiana. Try maybe turkey burgers?0

I get Natures Rachers quarter pound beef burgers which have 200 calories in them, and some of it cooks out. Turkey and Buffalo are good alteratives too.0

Turkey is a bit of a change of pace from chicken. I cook a full turkey breast once a week. Gives me and my husband plenty for a couple of dinners and turkey sandwiches or wraps all week long. Also, maybe you can add some pork loin or pork chops or some fish in to your diet. Mixing things up keeps your diet way more exciting. I know you can do it!0

Do you like fish? Fish doesn't have many calories. And steak isn't bad, I have it once in awhile, the calories aren't that bad but skip the potatoes. I eat broccoli and add a bit of low calorie cheez whiz to it. yum! Good luck!:happy:0

haha i am just like you. I love meat and potatoes and you can still have red meat...it is about portion sizes. you can also do ground turkey, and perhaps look into pork. White meats are usually better. unfortunately...

I am only starting to get into trying to make that...but i guess there are some good recipes for it.

which you can have beef in a crock pot meal or something like that. I just made a mushroom and beef stew like thing from this site. hope you find something that looks good to ya!0 -
We just had pork chops for dinner. You can also go with turkey like has already been suggested. If you're going to go with turkey though, you may want to check the 93%/7% ground beef. Frequently it has fewer cals and less fat than ground turkey. Fish is a GREAT addition. If you're up for a new adventure, you can always try tofu. (Not my cup of tea, but others I know love it!)

Well I have the most decadent diet cook book and there are beef recipes in there that are less than 500. Even a one called Super-stuffed Steak Soft Taco that is 300 per taco. I personally am fully between 1 of those and some brown rice. Beef is all about the cut because this particular recipe calls for top round steak. I also eat fish and pork, but I love fish. If you want any of the recipes let me know.0

Is it chicken you're sick of or the same old preparation? You'd be surprised how often people get the two confused, lol. But on to your original question, fish is always an excellent choice. I also recently made an eggplant and chickpea stew which totally surprised me because I'm definitely a carnivore. A good lentil soup works wonders too. Part of this lifestyle change is throwing our old way of looking at food out the window and trying new things. When it comes to beef, look for leaner cuts to help keep the cals down. Good luck0

I think it's okay to eat other foods besides chicken - just make sure to watch the portion sizes and calories. You could try pork chops, lean (95%) ground beef, lean cuts of beef, etc...Do you like fish? What about making the foods that you like in a healthier manner? You can grill meat without a ton of sauce. I try to make my plates 1/2 veggie, 1/4 protein and 1/4 carb. It's easy to measure that way.
Potatoes are okay - I bake mine and eat them plain, but you could add olive oil or Earth Balance or a small amount of butter.
This time around I'm trying to avoid denying myself foods. I just don't go crazy when I'm eating chocolate or something.

First, are you sure your calories need to be set that low? Sometimes it's better to lose weight a little slower if it means you can eat a wider range of foods.
Second, I ate steak (ribeye or New York Strip) when my calorie goal was that low. Do you eat your exercise calories?0 -
Extra lean ground beef that has been scramble fried and then rinsed with boiling hot water is hardly more calories/fat that ground turkey and can be used in a number of dishes. Just a thought.0

Turkey! Turkey! Turkey! We eat turkey instead of beef. We buy it ground and make burger dishes with it. We eat turkey bacon and make pizza with turkey pepperoni. There are a lot of beef substitutions. Fortunately, my family is very open to trying new things.0

I have been eating chicken and turkey since I gave up all red meat 10yrs ago.there are so many ways to prepare these two meats.I use a lot of ground chicken and turkey and make anything from meatloafs to tacos.and they are yummy0

Try eating some of your meals vegetarian, like dishes with beans instead of meat.
As other said, ground turkey is good.

I'm on a 1200 calorie diet and I still eat a variety of meat including beef. You just have to be very careful with the portions. You can also check out ham, turkey breast, pork tenderloin, a variety of fish and seafood, and roast beef. I usually buy lunch meat and make sandwiches. They are filling and don't usually have a lot of calories(and the calories are easy to track since it's sliced). Also, you can try cooking chicken using different recipes.0

I got sick of chicken no matter how I made it the first 3 weeks. I bought tilapia and turkey patties and those aren't too bad. There are some good recipes on here for them as well.0

lol. My kids make fun of me for cooking chicken all the time. Figure out what calories you're going to consume then work out. That way you earned your steak. Do you eat fish? Pork tenderloin is a good choice.0

you just have to find ways to stretch your portions of beef and pair it with really low calorie sides like steamed broccoli. My favorite restaurant meal is a 6 ounce sirloin (about 400 calories) with a side of steamed fresh veggies, usually broccoli and carrots (about 80 calories) from Texas Roadhouse. I just budget for it throughout the day and pass on the bread and salads when I get there. When I first started, I ate it all. Now, I only eat 2/3 of the steak and save the rest to add into a veggie stirfry (broccoli, zucchini, yellow squash,and whatever frozen veggies I have in the freezer) for a yummy lunch.
I also will brown a pound of super lean ground beef, rinse, and then add half (6 oz) to a jar of Classico fire-roasted tomato and garlic spaghetti sauce (which is then portioned out into three one-cup size servings, two of which go into the freezer for later). Add to the whole-grain noodles of your choice for a low-cal spaghetti dinner that includes two ounces of beef (enough to give it the taste, but not too much). I use Barilla whole-wheat pasta = 362 calories.
I usually make tacos with the other half of the ground beef, two meals of three tacos with one ounce of beef in each.
So...that's five meals out of one pound of hamburger meat. Not bad.
P.S. And this is really important. I measure EVERYTHING. My food scale and my measuring cups and spoons have been vital to my weight loss, and I'm 105 pounds down. If you don't have them already, I strongly suggest you get them ASAP.0 -
those are great ideas. also, add some different flavors, too. look for healthy sauces and spices. also, boca burgers are great for an alternative to beef. i'm no vegetarian or vegan, but they are tasty!0

I also would say to try cooking the chicken different ways, try turkey, and most of all, try pork. Lean cuts of pork are very good. I cook pork tenderloin in the crockpot with nothing but some liquid smoke, then serve it. I use the leftovers in all kinds of recipes that call for chicken or beef. (Stir fry is one of my favorite ways.)
The other thing that I would recommend is not to give up beef. Buy the leaner ground beef, or the leaner cuts of meat, and watch your portion size. I often make casseroles that I would normally make with a pound of ground beef, and only put in 1/2 lb. I make up for the volume by sneaking in more vegetables - chopped celery, zucchini or summer squash, cabbage, or even fresh spinach are some of my favorites for this.
I would not just eat chicken, or if you get truly sick of it, quitting will be too big of a temptation. You need to find a way to eat healthier that you can actually live with in the long term, or the new lifestyle may become a passing fancy. I hope all of this helps. Let me know if you need more help. I love turkey products.........ground turkey, turkey italian sausage, turkey breakfast sausage, turkey burgers, turkey chops, turkey hot dogs, turkey kielbasa, turkey wings, turkey roast,etc etc

If you love beef, you can always try to trick your taste buds A couple of red meat substitutions that may be lower calorie intensive would be lamb and venison (deer meat). You can prepare them virtually the same as you do beef, but they tend to be more lean cuts, and I know for sure venison tends to have very little (if any) fat.0
