Still taking Newbies, I hope?? I just joined MFP the other day and this group sounds perfect! I like the idea of weekly challenges (cause I really need the extra motivation!)

I just did my measurements for the first time this afternoon - it was a little depressing. I can remember being a 28-29 inch waist - NOT NO MORE!!! LOL I really got big after my kids were born, so I started WW and lost 30 lbs - that was 3 years ago. This fall, my dad died suddenly in a kayaking accident. He was not only my inspiration, but alot of times my training pal. We ran our first sprint triathalon together this summer and backpacked for 10 days in the UP in the fall, about 2 mos before the accident. I've been dealing with a certain amount of depression and a just a general sense of ennui, if you will. My kids have kept me going, but I've found it really hard to stay focused on exercising and training. Consequently, I've gained more than 10 lbs back since October.
SO here's to new goals, new friends, and new inspiration. Let's roll!0 -

I think I'm going to track arm size as well, cause mine are a lil too sausagey for my liking right now. I want lose weight and add tone because I'd like to have kids soon, and it will be easier to bounce back if I'm in shape in the first place!!!0

I've lost weight before (3st with weight watchers and was a success story in the UK magazine!) but unfortunately I've let things slip over the past few years and put some of the weight back on. I know how good it feels to achieve the goals and I'm finally feeling in the right place to give it another go and get back to my goal weight (and back into all the small clothes I filled my wardrobe with and can no longer wear.)
My excuse has been that I did it with my sister before and it's harder alone but now I have no excuses

OK, I need a little motivational support! I'm going to a friends surprise Bday party tonight where there will be a ton of good (ie, GUILTY) food and a good bit of drinking.... "Lord help me to not stuff my face and drink too much beer!" I think I'll take a bottle of wine to share and when that bottle is gone, I'm on to water. Maybe a good size salad before we leave so I don't fell tempted by the table full of delicious finger foods and appetizers. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS??? LOL0

I would eat before you go. Then even though you see those foods, you'll be full and won't eat any. You can eat some, but you REALLY have to watch how much goes in. Sometimes we tend to over do it when it's a group of people and we aren't paying attention.
I would say just keep an eye on it. Maybe eat before and only plan to eat a slice of cake (yum) That's what I would do.
Oh, and then work out a few extra minutes to burn it off tomorrow, haha!0 -
