Thanks, Robin. I am a lush. :drinker: I like it. It relaxes me. I like the buzz.:smokin:

Can you set a moderate goal for the week? I think you are better at moderation than I am. I track here every week to keep it real and accountable. My numbers were in the upper 20's when I first started tracking. Just way too much. Or, do what Blondie does and measures out a respectable amount everyday. Find something that works for you.:flowerforyou:

Oh, and don't give it up for the weekend. You'll be a Debbie downer like I was.:grumble:
  • WTG Kim! I know I could make it through Monday through Friday not too bad, but weekends are so tough!!

So, last night was a complete booze-fest, just like I had imagined. 10 people + 200 jello shooters = one helluva night! And don't forget all the mixed drinks on top of that. We just have way too much fun! I guess I'll just be working out a little extra this week. :ohwell:

We had so much fun in Blackhawk--it was the first time I've ever been there. I drank WAAAAAAAAAAY too much, but I didn't really eat much so I guess my calorie intake wasn't that bad.

We're off tomorrow with the kids, so I'm going to be drink free tonight and tomorrow. For those of you that "caved" no worries! :flowerforyou:

Forgive my serial posting, but I thought this was funny...

Someone posted something about the kid in Iowa who refused to wrestle a girl in the state tourney because of religious beliefs. Anyway, someone started a thread about it and I posted a couple times and after my 2nd (and very, very, very long post) I left for the weekend and didn't see if anyone replied or what other people said. I went to see it today and it's not there...I think the thread got deleted. Ha!

Hey everyone. I am very proud of myself. I made it through the weekend with only having 2 glasses of Merlot & 1 small glass of port on Friday night. This is the first weekend in a long time that I have not had a full on blow out at least one of the days. I treated myself to a rootbeer float on Saturday night since I was not drinking! I had not had one of those in a long time :)

Wine is my weakness... just incorporate it into my calories.. try to be cognizant of how much so I dont lose out on the healthy calories.

It's Monday night here and I am getting very lushy :drinker: Kim, if I may call you that, I am soooooooooo proud of you and think you are an absolute champion. I hope you have an amazing weigh in and reap the benefits. Thanks for sticking it out even though I didn't. You are an inspiration :flowerforyou:

    Have a fabulous weekend Amy!

    Well done delilah!

WTG Kim! I've done okay since I last posted. But, of course, there were a couple gooduns' last week....Friday, and yesterday. Whew! But have kept the calorie count okay. BTW my new Doc, whom I'm not sure will work out, says to watch the sugar and carbs. NOTHING about drinking! I love that we have the reports.....I plan on taking them next time because I don't really have sugar, unless it's a rare piece of fruit. And my carbs are not bad at all, the good ones. Alas, the blood work shows different. I think it has ALOT to do with no exercise. So this week I will get in some of that.....oh boy! ....and keep up the habit that I dropped 6 years ago......and look where it got me.....large! Very! Hope all has a good week.

Hello, fellow lushes. I am so glad to know that I am not alone. I have already stopped lushing throughout the whole week, but I'm still a bit of a lush nevertheless. (hiccup) I love you guys! I love this site and definitely this thread! A little improvement is better than none. I'm going to try NOT being a lush for the remainder of the week to see if I can come off of my plateau!
  • :drinker: Getting ready to go on a cruise...will be waaaayyy too much imbiding going on, but what's a girl to do? Hopefully I can get some exercise in to help.

I had a very boozy weekend, 3 glasses of wine on Friday, same on Saturday and 2 glasses last night. As usual because I have drunk more I have a stronger urge to have a drink again tonight, the more I have, the more I want. Well I'm going to aim for only 2 nights drinking this week but one of those nights might be a week night so I'm not committing to only drinking at the weekend this week. In fact I think it's probably better for me personally if I spread my drinking nights, rather than waiting all week then making up for it at the weekends. I might try to limit myself to 4 glasses of wine a week spread out however suits me best. Does anyone else limit themselves like this rather than the monday -thursday rule?

So are we but I think our drinking will be limited since we will have grandboy with us. Normally happy hour is from 6-9, okay maybe 10 (yeah, dinner is waaaay late) but we will have to restrict to 5-7 happy hour and dinner at 7:15 or so on the cruise. Plus all the walking should help to offset the deserts! My oh my, we will probably be stuffing our faces. But maybe with better food than frozen lasagna and homemade taco's.

Couple of drinks tonight, yea - I "could" go without them but I had a crappy day and promise not to make Monday night drinking a habbit (again!). Bad day, felt better when I waked through the door and husband (knowing how crappy my day had been) asked if I wanted a beer......hells yea I want a beer!

Yvonne, I do the same thing...I don't limit myself to drinks per se, but I do set a limit on how many nights a week I'm going to drink (or really, how many nights without drinks) and then I take it as it comes. Right now, I'm trying to *not* drink anywhere between 2-4 nights a week...sometimes those nights fall on the weekends, sometimes not. I like doing it that way so if I have a function or whatever during the week, I can have a drink and not feel like I "failed".

Speaking of...I'm enjoying a vodka soda right now. :drinker:

Not sure what the bloodwork indicates...but, it is the barameter and telltale sign of health...ask for a nutritional consult to work with you on an individual basis...docs are good; but, they are not nutritionist. Good luck!

Thanks, Kim....I will ask for a nutritional consultant, and, yes, all the docs I've known do not dispense nutritional clues as what to do! The bloodwork was showing "prediabetic". YOW!! I never wanted that to happen! The choelesteral (sp) is not very good either. Seven years ago they were all just fine. Doesn't take long for the body to go downhill if one does not pay attention and keep up exercising. And, perhaps too much beer! And, on that note, I did not drink yesterday and will not tonight either. This gradual cutting back is not killing me either! But, I am the kind if I have one drink, I want all of 'em! So abstinence is better for me. Til I can't stand it anymore! :drinker: Good luck to everybody on there goals this week!

Hi all! I just found this thread and I'm glad I did. Alcohol is the source of most of my empty calories. Not that I want to stop -- a girl's gotta have her red wine -- but I do want to cut back so I can save money and carve out a kickin' body.

My biggest issue is that since I've gone back to school full time, even when I'm just hanging out at home I feel like I should be working. I use wine to signal myself, "Nope, you've worked hard enough today. Relax now." On the nights I abstain I have a hard time taking a step back once I'm done for the night... because, after all, there's always more to do.

But I mostly just wanted to say hi, and I hope everyone's well!

Pam, hope that all goes well with the nutritionist if you are able to get a consult. If not, check out the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association websites. They offer lots of good information on cholesterol, heart disease and diabetes as well as recipes.

Robin, congrats on your goodness last night...isn't is said tho "well behaved women rarely make history"...LOL

Well, back on the wagon today. Saving the rest of my drinks for Friday night for the new season of Gold Rush. I think it's going to be some appetizers and skinny margaritas. I starting to find beer is very, very, bloating for me!!! Anyway, I need to be very, very good until then.

Monday, 3 margaritas, 2 Sam Adams
    Tuesday, 0 drinks

    Total: 5
    Goal < 12
  • Hi everyone :)

Just got back from atlantic city yesterday- I won about 320 on a roulette video machine so i was a happy camper! It was a lushy weekend and probably will be all week since it is winter recess and im off from work. However, i got a week pass to the gym near me and i plan on taking a different class every day. Tried zumba today- it was EMBARRASSING! i cant dance :(

Amy-have so much fun on your vacation!! I'm jealous!

Sorta- I feel the same way! I'm a big ambiance person also, and im big on routines...so for me, a romantic dinner is not complete without wine, a bath is not complete without champagne, i cant watch football without a beer, etc etc etc. Its really hard to find different signals or routines to supplement with!!

Bad start to the week already  I am planning to try and hang out till next Monday again though. Still trying to cut my binge drinking to once a week not twice. Failed last week but always up for trying again! :blushing:

I just worked out a bit...my knee is doing something funky so I'm skipping soccer tonight. I'm going to try and cut back on the drinking until I can start working out a bit more.

    Sunday=0
    Monday=1 vodka soda

I would like to know everyone's favorite drink.... i need some newer ideas besides drinking beer.

I love red wine, but I also really like beer as well-good beer-I am not a fan of typical light beers but I have found that Beck's Premier Light is pretty decent.

I also like Skinny ***** Margaritas.

I am definitely in this category. I love my vodka tonics (or a vodka martini if Hubs is feeling generous enough to make me one ) and while I have cut way down on them, I can't give them up completely. I don't count red wine as an alcoholic beverage or a BAD thing at all because it has and always will be part of my healthy lifestyle. I attribute my amazing blood work to regular fish and red wine consumption....but I digress.

I have given up ice cream, soda, pizza, french fries, fast food, and a host of other things. You can take my vodka from my cold, dead hands. I don't have it much, but I am just not willing to compromise. I tried club soda (gag) and diet tonic (gag again) and decided it's just worth it to me to work a little harder that day and have my drink or 2.

I love this thread, all you get here is a lot of "DON'T DRINK THAT!!" and it's sad. Alcohol can be part of a healthy lifestyle!

    So true!! :drinker:
