It does help because I can laugh and not take myself so seriously.

Absolutely. It is nice having people encouraging you,
  • Everyone is different but I absolutely think having more friends helps. Whenever you feel like giving in all you have to do is reach out and they're there for you. In addition we are all going through the same thing and know what each other is experiencing, nothing like talking to someone who has been where you are. But again, everyone is different it might not be your thing. If you'd like feel free to friend me and good luck on your weight loss.

I don't know that it has made a huge difference for me. It is nice to see what other people are doing, and follow the progress of some other people daily, but I've pretty much been relying on self-motivation to get in shape. I also have had a much shorter road to travel to get back to normal weight, so over the long haul that probably wouldn't work for many people.

It is certainly more interesting to see what is going on with other people, and interacting on the forums results in lots of good information and ideas as well.

I don't know if I would use this site as often as I do if it weren't for the friends I have on here! They are definitely my motivators are supporters, both directly and indirectly. When I am feeling lazy but then log on here and see how many calories so and so burned doing whatever exercise, I just feel motivated to get up and do something.

I've gotten so many ideas with friends because of their open food diaries, and hope that having mine available to friends gives them ideas too. On your bad days, they are there to tell you to suck it up and that you can do it.

So yes, definitely helps me by having friends on MFP. I think it holds me accountable for everything I do and don't do.

Yes, having friends and the support of people that are going through the same thing is awesome. Getting that pat on the back when you make another goal. Welcome.
  • I've met some amazing friends. It helps knowing there are people out there you can relate to that are going through and struggling with the same things you are. Signing on and seeing their encouragement every day makes me want to strive harder!!

Definitely makes a difference...we all have similar goals and can sympathize or encourage each other when needed. I've learned things from my friends and they have inspired me along the way to keep going. It's a great support system for all friends involved!

I don't spend much time on the message boards - mainly because I use my phone for MFP mostly and it doesn't make it easy.

I get all my inspiration and motivation from a small group of MFP friends.

So, yes, it does help me :-)

I like having friends here because I don't want them to see that I'm slacking so it helps to stick to it more! I don't have anyone with me physically to do this with but I do have online buddies and to me that's the next best thing! :)

Yes it does! What helps me the most is logging on and seeing all the calories my friends are burning and it pushes me to work out as well!
  • Without a doubt it helps. I want to say it's been scientifically proven that if you have a partner doing it with you, you lose more weight. It personally helps me. When I don't feel like working out, I post. Someone usually responds pretty quickly and kicks me in the *kitten* to get me going. I even found local people that started on the same day I did and we go back and forth with the motivation.

I just joined MFP today and decided to do so because I have been going it alone for years. I need a little extra help getting back on the wagon this time, so thought I'd try this. It's kinda neat having a sounding board and others in similar situations. YOu can see how they overcame issues and in return offer advice to those who are where you have been.

You should add friends. That's what makes MFP so special! I have wonderful MFP friends all over the English speaking world. If I'm awake at 3AM or whatever time and need some support, there is usually a great MFP bud on-line to help. I have amazing MFP friends and I haven't met any of them yet. Some members have their spouses, children, siblings, co-workers as friends as well. You can add me, if you'd like! Good luck in reaching your goals!

It totally helps I kind of look at it like facebook but for ppl who are trying to stay or get fit and healthy. Its good to have support from ppl who are trying to do the same thing you are :)
  • It's wonderful. I also thought I could go it alone and wasn't sure about adding friends changed my mind. The first time you post that you've completed your exercise for the day or you've lost even a small bit of weight or that you're having a bad day, and you receive responses from your friends encouraging you to keep going, you'll understand.

I love having friends. Feel free to add me!
