Yep, my time would slow down some if I mixed it up a little. I like the rhythm of going back and forth. It all works.0

Yay swimmers! I have never thought about distance over time, since I usually end up doing the same amount three times a week. I am time-limited to about an hour, so my goal has been to just continue increasing the yardage in that window. Right now I'm at 3200, give or take depending on how much kicking/drills vs. free. I try to do a different workout, or at least a little different, every time I go to the pool, but there are a few core sets I build around (add warm-up/cool down and drills)
-5x450 150 pull, 150 kick, 150 swim @1:00 rest
-600@1:00 rest, 500@:50, 400@:40, 300@:30, 200@:20, 100
-2x400 IM, 4x200 IM, 8x100 IM (steady pace)
-1000, 800 every fourth back, 600 every fourth breast, 400 breathing ladder, 2000 -

Have only been averaging once a week in the water because of scheduling conflicts. But at least I've been getting my workouts in other ways. Swam 2700 yards today (1.5 miles) as follows:
50 warmup
1500 @ 10X : butter 25, back 25, breast 25, free 50, pull 25
500 @ kickboard @ 10X 25 flutter; 25 dolphin
100 back easy
500 freestyle moderate pace
50 easy-- cooldown0 -
Excellent job. It looks like we are the only ones keeping with this.
I swam last night and got my 2,570 in as well. I know I should be bored swimming straight through, but there is a certain zen to just counting laps.
Keep it up!0 -
Swam a 3650 (2 miles) today-- a personal best distance in over 20 years! Not bad for a fat 49 year old!
50 warmup
1800 @ 12X : butter 25, back 25, breast 25, free 50, pull 25
600 @ kickboard @ 12 X 25 flutter, 25 dolphin
100 sidestroke easy
1050 freestyle moderate pace
50 easy-- cooldown0 -

Not bad at all. Good you have inspired me to push a little further on my swim tomorrow.0 -

March Goal is to increase total distance!
Today, swam a 3000 (1.7 miles) AND I made a major stroke mechanic breakthru on my butterfly, which has dramatically improved my stroke efficiency!

Hey can I join? I used to swim 50 laps twice a week last year but stopped over christmas and only getting back into it now, starting tomorrow. would love to go more but our pool closes on a tuesday and thursday night for various clubs etc use.
Dont have an actual goal yet, will play it by ear this week and set a goal next week I think0 -
Everybody is welcome. We are using this post, it seems, more to encourage each other to stick with it.
I met my goal for for February 11.1 miles for the month. Using the 10% rule if I can get 13 miles in March it will be great.0 -
Well I didn't meet my goal of 4 miles in February, so I am going to set the same goal for March.0
-
I volunteer to keep a running total. Get me your weekly distance by Saturday and I will post who ever is in by Monday.
