-What's your favorite kind?
-What do you do when you're trying to count out a serving and all you have is broken chips?
-Any low calorie options?

Popchips - 100 calories a bag and all natural. And I find them delish!0

For broken chips, weigh them with a food scale, the serving size should indicate oz as well as number of chips.0
-
Baked chips are much better calorie wise.. although they don't taste as well. Original Lays are good baked. My favorite by far are Doritos! If I have a broken chip, I always get other broken pieces and make a whole one with pieces... lol0
-
Chips are my downfall! I have found Lay's Light Chips as my guilty pleasure. One serving has 75 calories(about 20 chips). Still not the best choice over an apple or banana but, let's be honest, we are human and we still have "wants" and I figure if I stick to the serving and stay within my calorie range, I'm doing ok!0

Pop chips are delish. I eat the whole bag as my special treat and don't feel guilty, not one bit.0

Baked chips! And as for broken ones , use a food scale!0

Special K cracker chips!0

I gave up on chips because the calories are so high and I don't like any of the low-cal options like baked chips...
However, I LOVE the Cheetos Natural Puffs White Cheddar... they're all naturals, they've also got no preservatives. They don't leave that gross cheese on your hands, or the greasy fingers and they sit REALLY well in my stomach. Plus they melt in your mouth. YUM.
A bonus, the serving size is 32 pieces so you actually get a ton of them. I sometimes even do just a half serving with a sandwich and it's plenty.0 -
My favorite chip would have to be something like doritos or salt and vinegar... but I've only been eating Cape Cod kettle cooked chips, 40% reduced fat... there are only 3 ingredients in them!0

Light pringels....YUMMY!!!0
-
ah chips,,,,,, I love them too! I don't usually count the broken ones but thats just my method of trying to score more to eat!
I have tried the sour cream & onion pop chips and they are very light and low cal. You can eat 31 chips for 170 calories but the sodium is fairly high at 450 mg. Moderation, as always, is the key. Enjoy!0 -
I get the pringles light sour cream and just recently found the special k cracker chips.. I believe they are 27 chips for 110 calories I've heard about popchips but never tried them but plan to soon0

OMG! Chips are the devils food! Once you pop you can't stop is so true. I love them all, but my favorite...baked bbq lays and salt and vinegar chips. I can't eat a serving size. When there's broken chips it becomes free food in my mind! Obviously I haven't had chips in a while, they can't be in my house!0

Try the PopChips! Yummy!0

I love chips. I don't really like any of the "healthy" options though for them. They don't taste like authentic chips to me lol
My favorite chips are Lay's Lightly Salted. They're 150 calories for 20 of them.0 -
OMG!!! I LOVE the new Special K Sea Salt chips!!!!!! 30 chips for 110 calories and they taste JUST like Munchos chips!!! YUMMY!!! :bigsmile:0
-
i love Terra Exotic Vegetable Chips they are a full serving of vegetables per serving and very low in sodium. there are also Terra Sweet Potato Chips which are no salt added!
i use a a digital scale to measure my chips (along with everything else. its a life saver!)
im OCD about measuring and weighing everything.0 -
I love soy crisps-barbecue flavor. Also Trader Joe's has baked Vinegar and Salt chips which are yum! I think a food scale is a good investment in any kitchen, I love mine and use it constantly.0

Somebody on here posted a recipe for Kale Chips stating they were guilt free replacements for potato chips. I would have to differ on that view, I found them nasty and the only relationship to "real chips" was the salt. I was contemplating licking off all the salt and throwing the "chips" out, but I did the right thing and chucked the lot. Experiment fail for me.0

I thought they were gross too! I read a lot of food blogs where the writers rave about them but I was definitely unimpressed. I'm glad I'm not the only one!0 -
About the PopChips - I haven't seen them anywhere around here..
Food scale - good idea! I need one of those lol. I just take broken pieces and put them together in chip sized pieces.
Malb3 - I think they taste awesome! That's what i always get at Subway.
drewangela - That's something I could probably find here. Thank you And I completely agree with your post. I have wants and I'm not going to just cut things completely out. I just asked because I was eating my leftover Odoba for supper & wanted to eat chips with it.
Kim - Thank you (:
Shaye85 - Thanks for your opinion, I guess. I know chips are bad but I don't care. I eat within my calorie goal. I just asked for a healthier kind of chip. You don't have to tell me that they're bad. I do eat the rice cakes though. But i eat big ones because it's less calories for one than a handful of mini ones.
aznladie82 & veggiemuncher12 - Thank you! I'll have to look for those.
ashleighk2010 - awesome! That's the kind of thing I need.0 -
ItsOn - I'm not really a fan of the super crispiness
HotRod - My faaavorite! I loove them.0 -
I love chips. I cannot cut them out of my diet. I've tried that before and then find myself finishing off a family size bag... That being said, as you already know, measuring a serving is the key. As long as you are within your calorie goals, eating a few "bad" things isn't bad at all. What I think we've learned over the past few years is the people who tell you things are bad will change their minds a few years later. Take, for example, eggs. They were supposed to cause high cholesterol. Now, they're good for you. High fructose corn syrup, first it was good, then bad, now not so bad... In the end what most studies have found is that being in a healthy weight range is more important than what you are actually eating.
Anyway, the only low calorie chips I eat are pringles. The rest I eat in their "natural" form. I'm a huge fan of Lays and Doritos. And I love, love, love Onion and Garlic flavored chips.0 -
What are pop chips and where do you buy them?0
-
Popchips: They are in the chips section of my grocery store. It's a Wegman's--so I expect that they would be in the chip section of most grocery stores.0
-
So you can eat an entire bag (like regular sized not those small ones) of pop chips and it's 100 calories? Sign me up! All joking aside Chips are my down fall, I could eat and eat them. I love tortilla chips and I still eat them on occasion. I try to snack on Pretzels instead, I like to dip them in The Laughing Cow light swiss cheese wedges.0
-
I love Kale chips, but if you're trying them for the first time:
1. lower your expectations, they're basically dried Kale...they're not going to taste like deep fried potatoes
2. do not burn them or they will smell and taste really awful
That being said I can totally understand that you still may not like them. I like them because I feel like they're a nice snack, they remind me of regular chips, but unlike regular chips you don't have to worry about eating too many, and they're super healthy.0 -
Sweet Potato Chips by Food Should Taste This Good. Mmm... With some simple homemade fresh guacamole. Can't beat it. As for eating just one serving? Haven't quite figured that out yet.0
