I don't know...this formula puts me at just above 4%. I don't think that is possible. :noway:
I think you made the mistake I first made. Reread this line: "Lean Body Mass Factor 1 + Factor 2 - Factor 3 - Factor 4 + Factor 5". They're not all plus signs.
Haha!! You're right...that's what I did! I knew I had to have done SOMETHING wrong to get 4%!!! Thanks!!0 -

Thanks for this!! I added all the factors first too, but once I fixed it I was much lower in body fat than I thought I would be! :laugh:0

For the math impaired, I found a website that will do this for you.

Ack! Fitwatch looks like the proper successor to Nutrawatch which was my favorite cal tracker of all time. I may have to switch. :sad:0 -

Or you could use one of the dozens of bodyfat calculators on the internet and use one of them. A whole lot easier

Bingo!
Except most of them do not take build into account.0 -
Being the nerdy engineer that I am, I converted these to spreadsheet formulas that automate the process and give color coded indications of where you stand.
Message me, and I'll try to send it to anyone interested.0 -
Yea the not taking into account your size is the reason I posted that one...all the other ones are lame in my opinion. Every BODY is different and it needs to take into account different things. Like the one I used to use that says I am Obese with a healthy waist line...ummm ok. So am I healthy or obese?0

Wow, so the body fat scale I just bought recently is like 10% more than this calculation and the calculators online..is the scale that far off? I thought it must be, since I find it hard to believe at 140lbs I'm obese as my scale would indicate.0

The formula for men can be reduced to just one line:
-0.082 - 94.42/[Weight] + 4.15*[Waist]/[Weight]
FWIW, I measure my body fat on a BIA analyzer and it says I'm about 18-19%. This tells me I'm 19.7%. Whatever, still interesting to look at.0 -
Ha, using that formula, I decided to see what my waist would be if I went down to 11% body fat while losing only fat and maintaining the same lean mass. It calculated my waist to be just a hair over 30, which is what pants I wore when my body fat was that low. Interesting!0
