This looks very interesting! I've always questioned BMI, so I'm very curious in what this would say.

So I did all my math and I'm apparently 26.75% for my body fat.
I thought it sounded like a lot so then I googled body fat % and found this link

I am apparently acceptable!
I think I'd like to get it down into the fitness range! (<24%)

I did some additional research on this measurement technique and found that it yields a result that has an error rating of +/-4%. In other words, if your calculated result is 19% than your real body fat is somewhere between 15% & 23%.
Also, this method is NOT recommended for those that are severely overweight or those that are extremely fit.
I'm not trying to discourage anyone, but think that it is important to have all of the availble information.0 -

did the calculation on here and got 19% and on this website and got 17%. Using a caliper (on myself, no help around), I figure between 13%-15% :ohwell:. I'm really wanting to hop in one of those body pods / dunk tanks to get a more definite answer, but I don't know where one is in my area.0 -

Like I said earlier, the measurement technique only yields results that are +/-4%. So a differance of 2% is to be expected.0 -

This was accurate. I took my body fat today with my monitor and it matched the website.0 -
I dunno... based on these calculations, I'm at 26.9% body fat, which is considered "acceptable". Based on my BMI, I'm at 26.3, which is considered "overweight". How can one give tell me I'm fine, and another tell me that I'm not fine? Which is correct? And why doesn't the body fat calculation take into account your height??
Now I'm not sure - which is the more "legit" method? Am I considered "acceptable" weight because my body fat is decent? Or am I considered "overweight" because my BMI is too high by 1.3%? :ohwell:0 -

Not sure where the OP formula came from, I get 30% with that formula and about 18-20% with other methods0 -
wow - wish I didn't read this I just did mine 3 different times and it tells me my body % is 30.6 - how is that possible? I'm 4'11 and 125 lbs. UGH now I feel just crappy. I did my body % calculator - the % I should be and it tells me I need to lose appx 10 lbs so my target is correct - but my body fat is WAY more then I thought. Thank you for the post now definatly keeps me motivated0

Thank you I was having a blonde moment! 26.5% is much more realistic and matches up with the website although I still think I'm probably more...0 -
now I just did this one http://www.csgnetwork.com/bodyfatcalc.html and it says I'm 27% - I'm soooooooooo confused - it tells you your waist is at the belly button but then it tells you at the smallest part....(where it starts to go in) stupid question - where is your waist? I never thought It was the belly button.0
