I have lost 20 pounds and no one has noticed yet :-(
I notice when people lose weight but don't say anything until they've lost a lot. My decision has a lot to do with my mother in law. Everytime she sees me, which is about 2-3 times a year, she'd ask me if I lost weight. Even when I hadn't. I figure she either does it because that's her BS way of trying to seem nice, or what I consider more likely, in her head I'm a lot fatter than I realy am. So every time she actually sees me I look thinner than she thought I was. Either way I find it annoying. And I don't want to irritate other people by doing the same thing. So I keep my mouth shut.
Just because people don't say anything doesn't mean they haven't noticed. What's more important though is if you notice. And you have, right? I don't have to see you to know your face looks thinner. Don't you smile more? Sit up a little taller? Have you ever seen what 20 pounds of fat looks like? Google it if you haven't. That's all gone from you! That's amazing! And YOU did that!0 -
A woman at the salon who I see about every 6 weeks was the first (and only, so far) person to notice that I've lost weight. Granted, it has not been very long, and I haven't lost much yet. I think it's hard for people who see you on a daily basis to notice because it's a gradual change. Also, like others have mentioned, I think some people think it's rude to comment on your weight because then the implication is, "I noticed you were fat before." I guess I understand this, but personally, I know I'm fat, and if someone thinks I look better now, then I'd love for them to tell me .0

I'd have to say it was my co-workers who first commented. They all knew I was working on it but it still was nice to hear a "you're melting away!" or similar every few months when I'd wear a new better fitting outfit. I think the 2nd best compliment was from DH's grandmother - she saw me in the parking lot at the grocery store but didn't even recognize me until I came up to her to say hi! Now THAT's a big compliment!0

my mom.
My dad saw before he left to Northern Cali for a month. I can't wait to see him when he gets back...it should def be more noticeable than when he last saw me.0 -
Sometimes people don't like to say anything, even if they do notice, so don't get discouraged!
I noticed first, because my clothes started fitting better. Then one of my "pool pals" told me I "look like I'm slimming down"...made me feel great!0 -
I saw my driving instructor once a week and she noticed the change. Than my friends eventually noticed. Finally my ex's family noticed when I met them and they saw me drop two stones. It was victory for me because I think they blame my weight for the fact my ex cheated on me. My friends also said I looked a lot prettier and younger too! Bonus! My family doesn't say a thing, they only know how to make a big fuss when I put on weight. Not a word about me losing.0

He wasn't the first, but it was the best! I ran into my ex-boyfriend of a year's cousin... and he said "Damn girl, look at you looking all hot and skinny. Have you been losing weight?" And I said, "Yes, yes I have... Tell your cousin!" That comment has kept me going for weeks!0

I was in my friends house and a visitor that came to the house said "God, have you lost a lot of weight?" It was the best feeling in the world!! I hadnt seen this person in over a year and had lost just over a stone!!0
-
The guys at work noticed first...and then my mom noticed right after...she said she wants to be as skinng as me for my wedding (I`m 180lbs, far from skinny)0
-
The girls at work noticed first but they new I was beginning my diet, but the first person to notice I was losing weight was a customer at teh bank I work at!! Felt Awesome!!0
-
No one noticed, but I think I lost it all in my chest, so I guess comments would be inappropriate!0
-
I believe it was my boss.... he said he noticed my weight loss then asked me if I was sick and was going to be able to continue to do my job.
LOL
Nice of him to be concerned, but wasn't exactly the sort of positive feedback I would have hoped for!
I've asked people if they're sick before - not quite that bluntly. But when I was younger, I lost 30 pounds in two weeks, and kept losing after that. I was in a severe depression, and no one ever asked how I was, they just kept telling me how great I looked. I hated it.0 -
my housemates say they can tell but see me everyday and know to the pound how much weight i've lost so may just be saying it, my parents noticed when i last went home but again they knew i was loosing weight. i'm waiting for my boss to notice as they don't know i've been trying and i only work holidays so they haven't seen me for 3 months (29lbs!!!)0

My co-workers first, and then my family. Everyone has been really supportive of my weight loss. I have also been very public about it this time. This is my true lifestyle change. 30 lbs down!0
-
I've lost almost 20 but i'm very overweight, so 20 really doesn't show. I think it will take 30 for me for people to start noticing, and 50 for everyone to notice. Suckage! lol.0

My dad was the first to notice.
Lately it seems like not much change is happening but the guy I'm dating says he can see a difference every time he sees me, which is about once every week or two.0 -
My ESL student noticed first at about 10 pounds lost. She made a squeezing motion with her hands and said, "Look very good." Then I went home and really looked at my face, and I agreed--I was thinner. Then my husband said he noticed, but I'm not sure that he has or if he was being nice. I think it really is noticeable in my face after 15 pounds lost, though. Just my face. But that's it so far. But it felt good for my student to spontaneously say something because she didn't know that I was trying to lose weight.0

My 7 year old daughter said to me the other day, "mom u gettin skinny". Lol ! I laughed and gave her a big hug and kiss0
-
For me it was my husband who came up and said he can see my waist again. But the best one was a week later I had run an errand at work to another part of the facility and when I got back to my desk a co-worker called to ask if I had lost weight. She saw me from across the parking lot and noticed the difference. It rocked! :bigsmile:0

Today I had my first person comment. I have been having a really bad week - eating out and badly, feeling emotionally wrung out and just plain gross. Wasn't even feeling pretty today. Was passing by my coworkers door while she was chatting with the boss man. So I stopped for a minute to say hello. She said, 'Boss man, why don't you tell her how pretty she looks today? Can't you see she's been losing weight?" I was like, oh stop, you're just saying that. She told me no, haven't you been losing weight? I can tell!
I really needed that today!!!0 -
TBH I hate people commenting on my weight. I've been skinny and overweight and either way it makes me cringe when people say stuff about the way I look so I will just be happy if I get to my target weight and get rid of this stupid spare tyre round my middle that's getting in the way of my life! If peeps want to be nice about it when it happens, then fanatastic, but I will know when I feel 'right' again.0
-
My most recent comment was someone that had not seen me in a while stating that I looked taller.
Everyone around just laughed and said, nope, just thinner.0 -
Some people don't say anything cause they don't want to be rude or think it's an uncomfortable subject (basically acknowledging that they thought we were fat before!)
Also, the people that see you every single day tend to not notice at the beginning- but if you only see someone once a month, they'll notice!!0 -
I think it was co-workers who first noticed (I am a widow, so no spouse to check on me). But my biggest compliment came from my brother who I didn't see much of during the time I was losing weight. He told a cousin that the first time he saw me after I had lost weight, he didn't even recognize me.
There are others that I see from when I was in college who have said they same thing. They see me coming, and they don't recognize me until I speak. A former student (from many years ago) did that also. His wife works with me, and she was so excited to come and tell me that Casey didn't recognize me the day before.

I was starting to think the scale and measurements were lying because after 20 pounds and 2 months, no one said anything. Not even the hubby. Until I went to parent/teacher conference, and as soon as I walked in the classroom, without even a hello, my sons teacher said, "Wow, have you lost weight, you look so good!" From that moment on, I didn't care if she told me I had the worst kid in school and he was failing every class (lol, he doing really well), I was on cloud nine! Best P/T conference I have been to!0
