I love Luna bars and can't stand the taste of some of the others. However, I have noticed Luna bars tend to have a lot of sugar. So that being said what is your favorite snack bar and protein bar?

my favorites are Pria bars--theyre made by power bar but are much smaller/less dense and only 110 calories. the problem is i can barely find them anywhere now!

I also just bought a box of the mini cliff bars and they are pretty good too! the box i got has a mix of oatmeal raisin, blueberry, and choclate peanut butter flavor. only 100 calories each
  • My new favorite is the Fiber Plus Caramel Coconut Fudge bars! Insanely yummy :)

I like Lara Bars...they are mostly 3-5 ingredients with the main ingredient being dates. No added sugar, no preservatives and nothing artificial. Any "sugars" are natural sugars. I personally think all protein bars/snack bars taste like Cr@p, and Im not saying these are fantastic, but they are SUPER healthy!

Special K protein bars but still high in sugar. Larabars are great for the natural ingredients - all natural sugars from fruit! I want to make my own.

I want to try Lara Bars because they are natural. But, I do buy Pure Protein bars; high protein, low sugar and they taste good IMO.

I switched to Pure Protein bars after an email from Jillian Michaels.
  • I second the Fiber Plus coconut caramel bars. They taste like Girl Scout Samoa cookies! I mostly eat Powerbar Harvest or Zone Perfect bars (particularly LOVE the mint chocolate one). Did not like Clif bars.

My current favorites are the energy bars by Honey Stinger. They're 180 calories for 3 to 5g of fat, 10g of protein, and 28g of carbs. The company also makes protein bars with about the same calories, but a different ratio of about 8 to 10g of fat, 10g of protein, and less than 20g of carbs. To me these have about the best texture and not such a strong vitamin taste as some brands of bars.

    Balance Bars.
  • I love the small size Pure Protein bars. They are very filling and I think that they taste good.
Since I do not take any added sugars from anywhere else (I do not count fruits'), I don't mind the Pure Protein's.

I only eat Larabars and the occasional Balance bar. All of the others I have tried seem to spike my blood sugar and make me shaky an hour later. Those Fiber Plus coconut bars are good as a little treat, though.

In the process of making the switch from Special K bars to Pure Protein bars. Small increase in calories, HUGE increase in protein (which I need at the point I'm at), and HUGE decrease in sugar. Well worth it.

I love the Pure Protein bars. Super yummy and very filling. I get mine on Amazon through their Subscribe and Save program. Less than $10 for 12 bars

Zone Perfect and Balance Bars are staples. Pure Protein I just tried a couple of weeks ago, and have been impressed with every flavor I've tried--very tasty, but very much like a candy bar. KIND bars are my fav fruit/nut bar. Soyjoy's are great for a more bread/cake like bar.

Have ate Cliff bars in the past, but try to keep my bars around 200 calories or less, and the Cliff's don't qualify.

I get somethign called 'Peak Body' flapjack at the gym - its 400 Calories but its all protein and Carbs... given that I burn +1000 Calories at the gym this is pretty good - I have half of it mid-workout and the other half at the end. I wouldn't snack on this unless you were doing pretty hard core training.

    Calories: 409Kcal
    Protein: 15.01g
    Carbs: 58.38g
    Fat: 12.68g

Also worth noting that I often train 7pm-9pm and I don't want to eat dinner when I get home so we have a light, low carb dinner at 5:30pm and then this fits into my 'protein window' post work out.

As a snack I eat non-fat greek yogurt at a whooping 24g of protein per serving and only 133 calories.

I also drink a myoplex 42g of protein shake as 2 snacks each only 150 calories.

I tend to stay away from anything under 20 grams of protein and over 200 calories.
  • i love the Clif bars and, if i were more disciplined, i would cut them in half and just eat half. They aren't super high on protein though. They fill the desire for a cookie though! :P A much healthier alternative!!

I just tried my first Clif Mojo Peanut Butter Pretzel bar and yummmmm will be buying more of those!

Pure Protein is good and has a higher protein content than the previous two...

For those who like Lara bars, you can certainly cut your costs by having a couple dates, and a small handful of nuts. I liked the peanut butter and jelly larabar, but honestly, its dates, peanuts and cranberries i think? All things i get (organic) from the bulk bins at my grocer....

I tried the Clif Mojo PB Pretzel recently too; YUM!!! Love the sweet & salt together! The Mountain Mix is pretty much the same thing, but adds a few chocolate chips!
