Can I see a show of hands from people that need ot lose this much or more. I'm just curious.
Sometimes it's hard for me to relate to someone that needs to lose 3 pounds. I would just like to know who is in my boat.

I have 80 pounds to lose! I just started so I have a long way to go. I do enjoy this site because I am journaling my daily intake more than I ever have. I also enjoy seeing what the exercise does for the calorie intake. I try to stay at my goal but today I went over but did not feel so bad because with the exercise I really was under my calorie count.
I have joined a local bicycle riding group as well. Even though I am riding alone right now they are an inspiration and motivator to get me out on my bike.
With a support system it will make it easier.

I was in for 80 lbs. Just hit my first 10 this week so I'm looking forward to the next 10 and the next and the next.....
I know what you mean about relating to people who only need to lose 3-5 lbs but you have to remember that to them that's like losing 75. We have to be supportive for all who want to lose no matter how big or small the number. It's all about health.

From 262 to 172. 90 lbs total. I am a month into it and have lost 22 lbs.0

my origional goal was losing 50 lbs-that would bring me to 150.then i thought of who is was in the first place and it may take 2 yrs but 75 total would bring me back to pre-all-the -babies -weight. granted the "babies" are between the ages of 25 and 31! i used to be really skinny and cute.with a slight built.i want to see that again!!!!!:laugh:0

I'm in the 75+ pounds group too I've made it a point not to get on the scale for the past couple weeks but I can say that my new lifestyle is working because I feel SO much better! More energy to play with my 2 yr-old twin boys! :laugh:0

I need to lose about 100 pounds. But my goal is a bit more realistic I haven't seen that weight since high school. I am working on 33 - 50 pounds. If I can keep that off I will be thrilled.0

I don't have that much to lose anymore, but I did. I lost 80, gained half back and am determined to lose that before I gain it back. Don't look at the total. Look at it in small increments. You can do it!0

Yes I understand that 3-5 pounds is very hard for some people and I fully support everyone and their goals. I'm not trivialising that at all. I will be there to support them as well!
I just sometimes might have issues to discuss and finding people that might have experienced the same thing would be nice. Sometimes being overweight is like being a whole other species. I have been treated badly and discriminated against many. many times because of my weight. Even to the point of being denied job promotions etc.
So anyways, let's go out and have a great weight week!!! Woo Hoooo

I have 105 lbs left to lose, too! I have lost 7 lbs since Jan. 1 eating fruits, veggies, whole grains (oatmeal, quinoa) and beans/lentils. I have lost all my sugar cravings!!!! Wowza... I feel so much better already and it makes me want to exercise even more. :bigsmile:0

It's amazing how you lose the sugar cravings that are so hard to get over at first. And then if you take a drink or a bite of something really sugary it's SO POWERFUL it almost makes you want to puke. Can you believe what a difference it is??? :noway:0 -

So many fantastic people! I need to lose about 100 but have set my goal at 70. This way I will be at a comfortable weight and the total doesn't seem so bad. I definitely agree with choosing little goals. For instance, I'm trying to lose 2.5 lbs by Friday and so far it's working! Good luck.0

Have any of you found it hard to talk about your actual weight?
I finally told my daughter how much I weighed and made me brak down in absolute tears.
But now that I've finally confessed it to one person it seems a little easier to talk about.0 -
I weigh in about 370 more or less but I am a man and could care less who knows, my wife on the other hand I haven't a clue. She guards that number more effectively than the Army guards Fort Knox. And I value my safety to much to try real hard to find out.

I refuse to tell anyone how much I weigh. My husband does not know he is worried about me but I still won't tell him and he won't ask. He does know I am trying to do something about my weight for me not for him which makes him happy to see me working on it. He is 6'2" and about 150 pounds. He says he has picked up about 10 lbs in the past year and he wants to eat healthy with me for support. You can be skinny but not eating or exercising right so he is even motivated by my new hope for the healthier lifestyle.
My bike group is out for a 6 mile ride on Sat then to follow up with a 51 mile on Sunday. I am going on the Sat ride and see if I can figure out how to do maybe 18 miles of their 51. I did 8 miles of VERY HILLY ride so I should be able to do a flat 18. This bicycle club support is really getting me motivated to make sure I am out exercising. I did a 4 mile 1st ride this past Sat and yesterday 8 miles because I got lost on the Greenbelt and ended up nowhere near where I should have been. No cell phone to call and with the sun setting soon I told myself I just had to get back on my bike and ride it or walk up a hill if I had to but get moving none-the-less.
I just heard on the news that Jan 21st is when most of us give up on our goals for healthier living. Let's beat those odds together!

Since February 2007, I've lost 45 lbs...I'd love to lose 80 or more....but truth be told, I struggle with this so much everyday that I'm happy with every single lb lost. If I only lost 30 more I'd be happy happy happy!!0

I used to be so afraid to mention what my actual weight was, and then I decided to challenge my 15 year old step son to a weight loss battle by May of this year (we both have birthdays that month). Well, I made a graph with our weights on it, waist measurements (also hips for me, chest for him) and plastered it on the front of the refrigerator. I almost felt relief to have it out in the open - I mean, who was I kidding by not saying the numbers? As the guy on the Subway commercial says in regards to the guy's rear end...."oochie mama!" Anyone who could see my backside could guess pretty close to what I weigh! Now I feel that I'm 100% honest with myself, and that's part of the emotional baggage that I think we all have in regards to the weight.0

Consider me in your boat. I am trying to loose 80 and right now am trying to limit my intake to 1200 calories a day. It is very hard. I had a bad day Saturday. I ate almost 2000 calories. ooops. I joined Sunday the 13th of January and have lost 5 lbs. asg3013230
