Hypothetical -For those who work in an office.
For $50,000 (tax free) would you be willing to bring your home computer to work every day? Here's the catch - its not a laptop. We're talking a full blown desk top. It would include the CPU tower, the monitor, and the keyboard. And its not a MAC. This is a PC. And you would have to do it for an entire year. Each and every work day you would have to take it home and bring it back.

The voices in his head talk to him.
No. I would not do it. It would waste too much time setting up and taking down everyday. We all know that time is money. 50k wouldn't cut it for me, frankly.0 -
per year right???0

I can't answer. I don't work in an office. :grumble:0

Well, it was $50K for one year.
Is that in addition to my salary - or is it just 50K, flat rate?0 -
I would buy a laptop with the $50,000 or leave the computer there.
If they wouldn't let me, then it would depend on how many flights of stairs I had to go up and how many weeks vacation I am entitled to.0 -
I can't answer. I don't work in an office. :grumble:
I thought you did something on Saturdays. If so, would you do that every Saturday for $10,000?
(In both cases, it works out to be about $192 per day)
Yes, I would do it. I mean, after awhile it would become habit and wouldn't be a big deal anymore. I would bring a hand dolly and haul it all up at once.....no biggie! And I would figure out a way to have it already set up on the hand dolly, so all I had to do was plug it in and go to work.
TA DA!!! :laugh:0 -

And THEN you would log all the calories burned hauling all that crap up and have exercise taken care of as well!0 -

I'd do it. If I could pay off my student loans (which 50K would do, barely) just by carrying and setting up a computer every day for a year. PAH! I would SOOOOOOOOOOOOO do it. :laugh:0
-
Heck yes, I mean that's more then I make at my current job. So it would definitely be worth it :laugh:0
-
Sure, I'd do it. I could use the extra money to pay off my credit cards. My computer is a flat screen. :bigsmile:0
-
Honostly,
I haul my lap top around with me now, and I think that's bad enough. I ride a bike, which means I would be driving my truck more. It's a five minute drive to work which I would be spending that all in gas as compared to bike power. Plus I would lose most of my exercise time. Plus, with the fact that it takes fifteen minutes to set up, and then another fifteen to take down, it wouldn't the most efficient thing to do. I would say no. I like my bike, and I love my laptop too much!0 -

Hmmm.....50K and the opportunity to waste at least 1 hour a day setting up/taking down the computer, what's not to like about this. :laugh:0
-
Again.........show me the Money!!!!!!!! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: Heck yeah man  I could pay off both cars, my credit cards, and my student loans. Which means more monthly income after the fact. Definately worth it to me. :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: And for what an extra hour of work a day? (this is just Monday thru Friday though, right?...I mean if I have to I'd do weekends too but :grumble: that would cut into my :drinker: :smokin: time )And it burns more calories so I could do a shorter workout which means it's not using up as much time as it sounds like. It doesn't take me long to set mine up. A pain? yes....but worth it to me. :drinker: Again...its not self-degrating and nothing morally wrong with it. So I'm all for it :bigsmile:0
-
and what job will pay you 50K a year for an hour a day work, ya know? I mean I'm already getting my salary so basically that 50K is for what 5 hours a week?:drinker:
I like the ideas Max....will you be my new boss? So far use my own computer...bring it in take it home every day...and a papercut every day for a year and I've got half my debt paid off  Ok well not half but ummmmmm close to it anyway...a little over a 3rd of it :drinker:0 -
Yes. For $50k, or $192 a day, it's worth the hassle.
It would become old hat afer a while anyhow. Just the normal morning and evening routine.
Interesting question Max.0 -

In addition to your salary. A year-end bonus after you have done it for the entire year.
I'd do it..setting up and breaking down would just become part of the daily routine, along with brushing teeth, taking vitamins and putting on sox before shoes...But I want half up front0 -
Absolutely. I don't think setting up a computer is really that hard and it would become routine in no time. I don't have a home computer though, just a broken laptop. Can I get an advance on that $50K?0

Am I allowed to engineer something to transport said computer set up in/on and also a docking station of sorts to limit the amount of hook up and tear down I have to do every day? Yes? Then, sure. I'll create a portable, rolling, hydraulic device which includes a modified docking station. This will lift into place at my work station or remote office - wherever I have to work that day. I will then plug it into my home made docking station and begin working. At the end of the day, I'll unplug, lower it down and roll it out to my vehicle. Of course, I will also engineer something that assists with getting it in and out of my vehicle.0

I'm still slow with the logistics of the MFP forums, but how does one find threads this old in order to bring them back to life? Like how would you even search for it?
Anyway, probably yes. I think it would be a giant pain in the balls and I'd gripe about it every day and would probably be unhappier on a daily basis, but I'd do it for the cash.0
