6 week PUSH YOURSELF challenge, WEEK 4

Options
Good Monday morning everyone! Hope it was a GREAT week 3 for you all and that it was a wonderful Easter weekend for everyone.

Finally, finally, finally, some nice weather is forecast, for me, for most of the week. So, I see a lot of activities outside in my week. My bike and roller skates will hopefully get a lot of use this week.

We are half way through our challenge and to be quite honest with each of you last week it really was a "challenge" for me. It was a week full of a lot of extra cleaning, errands, work, cooking, and many other things and then to get my workouts in really took a LOT out of me. But, I woke up with a renewed energy today, remembered that TWO weeks from this Thursday I will be seeing my entire family for the FIRST time since I began this journey and want to PUSH myself to be at the very best that I can possibly be by then. So, we have three weeks of our challenge left, for me personally 2 1/2, and I am going to PUSH, PUSH, PUSH myself. (2 1/2 weeks for me because once 5/12, that Thursday, gets here, it will be 48 hours of family, family, family and driving so there will be a lot of food outside of the house and not a lot of exercise. So, I will be pushing myself hard up until that day, take my measurements/weight as of that day, and then post them as of that Sunday, 5/15, the last day of our challenge.)

So, I RAISE my glass to each of you, and there are not many of you that stuck with this challenge, and say WAY TO GO, so far. Now let's get to it and PUSH YOURSELVES for the next 3 weeks and finish this challenge off STRONG!

Good Job my friends!!

I also woke this morning Super motivated, I need to lose three more pounds to get to my first mini goal of losing 20 pounds! I have set my goals up this week to do at least 500 minutes of exercise, eat healthy, keep sodium around 1500 each day and get my water in. I hope everyone else that has stayed with the challenge is as proud of themselves as I am. We can do this and feel good that we stuck with the 6 weeks! Thank you Tracie for all the work you put into this and for your motivation:)

Well...I worked hard to burn the 3500 calories for the week but over the weekend I didn't eat the greatest.. I burned 3660 calories and worked out for 596 minutes. I haven't weighed myself yet today as I am nervous! Wish me luck! I'm very excited to get back on track this week.

I didn't want to desert you guys but my ankle has gotten the best of me. I thought if I did the recumbent bike, I could manage some exercise, but even that hurts my ankle too badly. I have an appointment with an orthopidic specialist next week so we shall see... You all are doing wonderfully and I wish you the best of luck!!!

These next 2 weeks will be tough for me but I AM GOING TO MAKE IT!!! I'm out of town for work this week, so downside is eating out but upside is new workout location!!! Packed my resistance band and the hotel has a pool and gym area. I'm ready...bring it on!

Hey All. I've dropped another lb and have found a ton of clothes in my closet to spend the beginning of summer in. I'm hoping they don't fit for long. LOL.
I will push harder this week and try and make my goal of 3500 cals burned min. The next two weeks are filled with two events and lots of hours. I plan on wearing my HRM and pedometer to see exactly how many calories I burn running around for four days and how many miles I walk in the same 2 blk area. :)
Y'all are killing it. Keep up the great work.

    Hey All,

I was very happy with my progress this week. I totaled 447 minutes of exercise with 132 mins strength training and 315 cardio. I was over my 8 glasses of water everyday, except Saturday. I need to drag around a water cup when I'm at home....

It looks like everyone is doing a great job this week. Congradulations to all who have stuck with us!

Keep up the good work, Amanda

Hi everyone! I don't really want to talk about last week : ( I was so extrememly busy I can't even begin to explain. I didn't work out for 3 days in a row! And I felt sick !! I missed it so much and had to wait until 7pm tonight to go again! But I went and worked it out, back in the grind.. ready to rock and roll !!

BTW I lost 2 lbs last week... and I had been stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks so this makes me very happy!

    Have a good week!

I think I'm back on here, at least for a few days. Yay! I've been doing horrible on water. I haven't had a chance to get any more and I dread drinking tap water. It tastes like iron to me and I don't even know what iron tastes like haha! I was supposed to do one more strength workout today but I didn't have my weights, so I'll make it up tomorrow.

Good morning to all! It's been a while since I post my stats. To be honest I’ve been feeling a bit intimidated by all of your post due to how much you guys have been exerting yourselves. For the past year I use to be at the gym almost every day working out for a minimum of 1- 1 1/2 hour a day and a reduced calorie diet 1200. Anyways I stopped going to the gym but I’m trying to do things at home such as workout DVD, running, WII fitness, etc. I'm approximately 5-9 lbs away from my goal but, I plateau prior to this challenge. I know we are all at different levels with our fitness goal and I’m trying not to feel too intimidated by all of you guys and how much you all are pushing yourselves. Congrats to all.

Down 1.1 lb for last wk

    Sunday
421 calories doing 50 minutes of cardio exercises, including "Aerobics, high impact" /sculpting

    13 glasses of water 8 0z

    Monday
burned 331 calories doing 40 minutes of cardio exercises, including "Aerobics, high impact" /sculpting

    13 glasses of water 8 0z

Total cals 752 and 90 mins for the wk

Can anyone recommend a good HRM?

This challenge is not meat to be an intimidator, at all! This challenge is meant for YOU to PUSH YOURSELF at the level YOU feel comfortable at! If you workout 30 minutes per day, PUSH a little longer, if you use 5 pound weights to do strength, PUSH to 7 pounds, etc... This challenge came to be because I was going to see family, that I have not seen since I began this journey, six weeks down the road. I decided I was going to PUSH, PUSH, PUSH myself as hard as I could to just get as much more lost and firmed up before seeing everyone. I thought it would be fun to open it up as a way for others to challenge themselves, too, because of the many, many, many posts I see, daily, about people needing motivation, needing support, and so on.

Do not be intimidated by a single person on this thread. We are all pushing ourselves to do more than what we normally do. I can tell you that when this challenge is over you will probably not see the amount of minutes/calories burned, per day, from me. Again, it is a PUSH YOURSELF challenge. If you are honest with yourself and you are pushing yourself to do just a little more than what you normally do then that is what this thread is all about. It has to be you being honest with you and you pushing you. Do not worry one bit about what any other person on here is doing, just PUSH YOURSELF and that is what matters.

As far as this goes, your best bet would be to go to amazon.com and do a search on Heart Rate Monitors. It will take a little time but read reviews.

You will want one that has both the watch and chest strap. Sometimes there are ones with just the watch and it reads your heart rate from your wrist. Those are about as accurate as a machine at a gym. The chest strap is right next to your heart.

I know a lot of people will recommend Polar but when I got my first HRM, and read reviews from amazon, I found that if the battery goes dead in a Polar that you have to send it in to get replaced. Well, I go through batteries about once a month on my HRM so that would not work for me.

The current one I have is called Soleus and I actually got this one from a local running store. Before that I had a Timex. I really liked the Timex but one day, about six months into owning it, it just quit working. Even changing the battery didn't work. Anyway, read about them on Amazon or even go to your local sports store and actually talk to a person that works in that department.
