Fantastic achievement. All that good news is going on with all the people on this site that take their health seriously. I can't wait to see my numbers look better than the last Dr visit. I go in June. I wish you continued health !0

My wife and I would go out to dinner often and you have the appetizer, salad, entree, dessert...2000 calories later...Wow!
Awesome job again.
This is probably one of the reasons why most of us are on here. We thought. We are not eating fast food, we are going to a nice restaurant, and then order exactly what you mentioned all 4 courses.0 -
Another thing that I am happy about through all of this is that most people would experience their first heart attack and then get checked out. I have to say "hats off" to my primary care physician. She saw a small tick in an EKG that she did not like. Sent me to the Cardiologist where they did their battery of tests. Results were inconclusive so they wanted to do the heart cath to make sure everything was ok. As I stated earlier they had to install 3 stents but I feel we reset the clock without having the heart damage happen first. The ultimate 2nd chance!0

Awesome! Congratulations! I too just got new numbers for my triglycerides, they use to over 150, can't remember exact number but just the other week my doctor told me it was down to 55! And still my doctor keeps trying to tell me to go down to 1200 calorie diet after losing 64 lbs lol0

Thanks to our original poster and to you for sharing. My numbers went way out of wack in just a short time (like 3 months-ish) and I'm looking forward to checking all the labs again in June. My A1C is still in the normal range but trending upwards, and all the cholesterol numbers are somewhat off where they used to be in the 'high normal' range. Hopefully, I'll be making a post like this one in June!0 -
How amazing! This site has also shown me my eating habits were not as great as I thought. Those numbers are just amazing! Congrats to you!0

My tri’s are down to a low 93 and cholesterol is at 85! Movement that is unbelievable in just 26 days. This application has allowed me to get a handle on what I eat and how bad I was doing when I thought I was doing well. Thank you.
Wow, just 26 days? What do you eat? Can you give us an idea of your diet and exercise regime? Did they do an A1C and if so, what was it? Again, Congratulations!0 -
Great Story....keep up the fantastic job.0

You saved your own life!! Awesome!
Exactly what I was going to say. Very proud of you.0 -
that is sooo great!! Good for you!0

You are AMAZING! My husband was diagnosed with diabetes several years ago stemming from gaining a tremendous amount of weight from medications he was on. He was very sick with DKA and spent a week in the hospital while they tried to get his numbers down. He was insulin dependent but turned it all around with diet. Sadly, he's gone back to his old eating habits and has put much of it back on.0

that is amazing!!! especially in such a short time! way to go0

Fan-freaking-tastic!
I love hearing about medical miracles like yours. Good job and keep up the awesome work!0 -
My A1C was in the 12's and now in the 7's and dropping like a stone.
My diet has become fat free, sugar free everything I can but I do not punish myself. It is amazing how much of a difference it makes if you prepare your own food and buy fresh. The amount of sugars, sodium, etc... in prepared food is huge. My target calories are 2210 but every day I am 600 or 700 under that value.
An example of not punishing myself is that my oldest daughter turned 19 last Saturday. I did have the piece of birthday cake with ice cream. Just meant I had to do a little more time on the treadmill.0 -
There was a main feature article in New Scientist about exactly that last year. See if you can find it online. It was about patients with severe diabetes being cured by having surgery that meant they had to eat cleanly.
Well done. People like you are amazing.
Would like to just point out that it is Type 2 diabetes that can be reversed. Not type 1 which is autoimmune and not related to diet/obesity/etc.
To the OP, congrats on amazing progress!0 -
Such an inspiration and it truly shows how much your body thanks you by making the necessary changes to a healthier lifestyle. I would have loved to see the shock on your doctor's face. Way to go!!!!:bigsmile:0

That is fantastic! I am certain you've just given yourself many more years!0
