Diet soda

I usually only drink Pepsi Max, of course I know it's not particularly good for you and I've heard it can impede weight loss. Haven't had any for the last few days, only water the last 3.
Does anyone know if it's true?
Question is, if I drink my 8 glasses of water a day, will having Pepsi Max as well be detremental to my loss?

As far as I know, the only way it can impede weight loss is by making you crave more food/sweet stuff. I went no diet soda for a few months and it didn't really affect my weight loss. Now I'm back to drinking it, except I drink a lot more water now as well. (Before I was probably only drinking about 2-3 glasses a day)

No, it will not prevent weight loss.
My concern was diet drinks inhibiting my overall health goals, and there is no definitive proof of anything negative...yet...
People go back and forth, so you must digest what you can and decide.
I choose not to drink any types of soda - diet or otherwise.
Maybe I am better off for this...who knows? I sure feel better having given it up.

I drink a diet coke a few days a week. It hasn't caused any issues with my weight loss. I also don't notice wanting more food/sweet stuff. I usually have it with a meal or afternoon snack so that could be why.

If you eat 12 deep fried twinkies, two entire pizzas, a birthday cake, and a 2lt bottle of regular pepsi all day, but decide to have a salad before bed, are you going to lose weight because you ate the salad?

Diet and weight loss are not one specific food, but the overall picture. If a Pepsi Max fits into your calories and you're getting all your water and nutrients elsewhere in your diet, it's not going to prevent weight loss. Going over your calories prevents weight loss.

The chemicals and artificial sweeteners in the diet soda are not good for you. The body never gets satisfied so you will still want to eat something sweet - there have been many studies that show diet soda/food eaters are consistently overweight. A small regular Pepsi would satisfy your craving, just count it as part of your sugar/carb daily amount and be happy knowing that's all it took. You'll drink less of it because it's satisfying! I made the switch before I started losing weight (40 pounds down!) and even with the occasional Pepsi I feel better.

I don't know what it does for weight loss, but I *do* know that you will live longer if you cut it out completely. You don't need it. It's really nasty stuff that nature did not intend for you to ingest. Good on you for switching to water! Keep it up.

I try to keep my diet soda to about once a week. For me, it's an association thing. I want pizza or a hamburger or something to go with it that might not fit into my calories.

After 40 years of intense study you would think that any negative effects on the body would have shown up by now.

Enjoy your diet soda and keep all things in moderation.
