Hi there! I'm breastfeeding my second baby! He'll be a year in December. I BF my first for a year too. I absolutely love it but can say I'm looking forward to him weaning to whole milk ;)

Hey ladies! I haven't started breastfeeding yet as my baby isn't due until January. However, I am a ftm and I was wondering if you guys have advice for challenges that I hear so many women face with bf. For instance, I was told it may take up to 3 months for it to feel "comfortable"...did you have those kind of issues?

EBF here too -- looking to lose about 25 pounds to get back to pre-preg size, but I have never been so hungry in all my life! Are you ladies adding "breastfeeding" to your meals every day in order to adjust your calories, or another method?

Not currently, but have exclusively bf all three of my boys successfully. Add me too, as I'm working on the baby weight, youngest is 2 now. But for all things BF I have probably experienced them with one or more of my munchkins, lol
  • I pump exclusively for my youngest who is 5 weeks old and looking to lose about 30 lbs. Feel free to add me!

I breastfeed on demand while at home and pump while at work. My baby girl is 9 weeks, and so far, no formula yet! Hoping to keep it that way as long as we can :) Congrats to everyone on your BF success! Feel free to add me if you would like. I am looking to lose about 30 lbs.

When my baby was under 6 months, I add -500 to my meals. Now that he is almost 13 months, I am only adding BF if I want to eat more  And when I add, it is only -200. He still drinks a lot especially at night, we're co sleeping. But he's still drinking less than when he was under 6 months.
  • Im breastfeeding exclusively as well and love it! feel free to add me ☺

Congrats on making the decision to breastfeed. My kids are all past the stage (though between 3 kids including pumping, I breastfeed for a grand total of 7.9 years. I did pump longer than normal however all of my kids have issues with milk (including milk protein allergies and lactose intolerance. My biggest piece of advice is drink tons of water and watch your milk production. If your supply slows down you either aren't getting enough calories or you aren't getting enough water.

Hello, other breastfeeding moms feel free to add me too. My baby boy is almost 6 weeks. I have about 15lbs to lose to get to pre-pregnancy weight. I gained 45 but lost a TON of water the first 2 weeks PP.

I'm BFing my 15 month old on demand and some days I'm convinced he drinks more than a newborn and some days hardly anything (he loves food and water). I only have around 20lb to lose but I'm in no hurry. Hopefully I'll get there by the time he's 3.

I'm eating round about what my fitbit says is maintenance, but from past experience I know is a diet, without adding breastfeeding, so the days I actually keep to it, my deficit is my breastfeeding.

Did you know that the 500kcal for breastfeeding actually already includes a 200kcal deficit? The recommendation was chosen to allow for some of the calories to come from fat stores.

I'm breastfeeding now. Technically it is on demand but the demand is only in the morning and at night before bed. My LO is 27 months old though. This is my 3rd baby that I have nursed. I let them wean when they choose (I have a limit of 36 months but none of them have come close).
