Excess carbs "spilling over" into fat?

Actually, protein and carbs are 4 cals/gram and fat is 9 cals/gram0 -

so you are saying that I should not base my diet off the Mayan calendar...?
Sure, but didn't that end a couple years ago?0 -

actually we all react the same way biologically
No we don't - energy output from person to person will be different - then push it to extremes of food intolerance / allergies.... Give the carbs I eat to a celiac person - dies in horrible pain!
You can't have an allergy to carbs or fat
The sad thing is it's a protein, not carbs, that celiac sufferers can't have. Would love to see people actually think about what they post first.0 -
I was researching bulking macros when I came across an article about creating said nutrient percentages.
One of the things it said was that you should tweak your carb and fat intake based on your body type (ectomorph, mesomorph, endomorph). Basically, decrease carbs and increase fat for endomorphs and do the opposite for ectomorphs.
I suppose the logic behind it, is that because endomorphs have slower metabolisms (whatever that means in this context), a higher carb intake will... become fat?
Is this real or just broscience? Does these body types actually exist?
As for "spilling" over, this is an adage used by bodybuilders when they go into competition and based on over carbing, have "blurred" definition.

So if it's "broscience" .. does that mean it doesn't apply to chicks?
I'm joking. Please don't hurt me. Here's a peace offering...

William Sheldon was his name (actually a psychologist) and it was more to do with personality traits when he created them. We studied them as "bad science" in my personality psych class. They have been defeated for decades but bad science never dies.0 -

Yeah your right it is 4 calories, I was too late to edit it =P
I'm on a very low carb diet and can't think straight =(CoolBeans520 wrote: »Broscience. Calories in calories out. Each carb and fat is equal to 9 calories. Also, what's your point?
So i don't know how to your respond enigmatic question but i will
try to the best of my ability.
In previous posts it has come to a general consensus that somotypes are a myth. So if thats the case wouldn't this topic shift over to nutrition which is what my post covers in regards to the OP over his concern of higher carb intake turning into fat. Minus i just corrected my typo with carbs being 4 calories not 9 which only changes the math calculation but not the idea I'm trying to get across. Which is if your spilling over on carbs or fat above your maintenance just make sure to compensate those extra calories into your daily caloric intake.
No need to be rash this is suppose to be a forum to encourage and help others to best of one's knowledge you can take the advice or not. We're all grinding here it's all good. =P

We do, but within certain parentheses.
I studied feed science (I am now a farmer) for a long while, and even within species/strains, animals will have varying FCRs (a FCR is an animals ability to convert its food into somatic growth - Feed Conversion Ratio). I see no reason why this should be any different in Homo Sapiens. This is why it is imperative that you find a calorific intake/macro split that works for you, use internet tools as an estimate and then tweak according to changes you can measure in your body.
Remember - nobody is a bomb calorimeter.
Been a couple decades since I took my few required ag classes (life sciences fell under the College of Agriculture), but as I recall, FCR does not account for an individual animal's activity.
It measures feed input and body mass output, with living conditions being held equal, yes? Individuals have different activities even in the same living conditions. One steer will pace the fence all day, another will stand most of the time, another might lie down most of the time. Perhaps that is enough to account for the range of FCRs.0 -

Don't tell me what this forum is for. "Encourage others". We know pretty well what this forum is for. A lot of the time it's to correct misinformation. Get used to it or get it right.
I know its a weight gain forum but why don't you read the original post buddy it has nothing to do with weight gain so what are you getting at? Only addressing original post that happens to be in the weight gain forum. Obviously this thread as wondered a little off subject don't we agree. So lets not throw a temper tantrum here.PrizePopple wrote: »So if it's "broscience" .. does that mean it doesn't apply to chicks?
