Im having a really hard time meeting my calorie goal. everytime i eat more than 800 calories i feel *kitten* about myself but i know i need to eat more to lose weight.

You need to eat more to sustain your body and daily activities. If you have been feeling like this for a while perhaps its time to talk to a counsellor. No point in beating yourself up especially when eating so little.0

What do you know about the importance of netting at least 1200 calories
Your only solution is to educate yourself ..because your reaction to a very low calorie limit is ridiculous (you need to understand that ridiculousness and educate yourself out of it)

An aspect of eating disorders that is often overlooked is control. Have you recently experienced an emotionally traumatic event in your life? Have you reached an impasse and does restricting caloric intake give you the feeling that you have control over that aspect of your life that was impacted by a negative emotional event?
The first step in moving away from those destructive thoughts is to try to find out when and why you started eating so little. What were the thoughts and emotions or life circumstances at that time?
As @Kalikel mentioned, education and mindfulness are necessary steps in overcoming these disordered eating patterns.0 -

Netting zero when MFP tells you to eat 1200 calories is important just for bodily functions. If you don't hit it, you're going to have even worse reactions (i.e. hair falling out, bad skin, etc).
Bottom line is to eat your 1200 calories or whatever MFP told you that you need.0 -

Tbh important actually really educated on fitness and being healthy but when it comes to myself i don't take anything seriously. I have a mental disorder that attacks my emotions and relationships so i strive to gain control over something. I want to reach my calorie goal but overtime i get close i feel like im failing myself.
Its just frustrating because i want to eat like everyone else without feeling like *kitten*.0 -

No, it's not normal. If your doctor doesn't take it seriously, you can call the National Eating Disorders Association hotline. http://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/find-help-support
This is in the US but I assume there are similar organizations in other countries if you are not in the US.

You deserve to feel good. You deserve to eat. You deserve to be happy.
Go get help. Help is out there. You just have to say, "Yeah, okay, I'd like to feel better. I will give it a shot,"

It sounds as though you have disordered thinking towards food. Since you have a mental illness, I am sure you already see a psychiatrist/psychologist. Please speak to them about this before it gets out of control and you become a full-blown anorexic.0 -

Actually read the post before you comment. And I certainly wouldn't be throwing around the term "troll" in a thread where the OP isn't mentally stable. That might cause more harm than good.0 -
As the way above posters said 'See a doctor" Really. It is not normal to worry about eating over 800 calories. You need professional help.
be kind to yourself, and to your body. If you can't eat over 1200 calories without feeling bad you will physically harm your body.

There isn't a human alive that won't lose weight on 800 calories a day. If you're not losing weight, you're eating a lot more than 800 calories/day.
Uh no. This isnt a troll post. And yeah its totally normal to not lose weight while not eating enough. Starvation mode kicks in and my metabolism slows down even more thus causing me to stay the same weight or actually gain weight because when i eat my body will store the nutients and fat so it can survive. So take your ignorance some where else.0 -

Im slowly starting to kick myself in the butt to eat more. I still havent been eating over 1000 calories (yet) but ill get there. Thank you everyone whos taken time to help. Im trying to get better by myself before i go see a professional.0

I mean if you know you are starving yourself and you have a mental disorder that attacks your emotions and relationships, you should know that this is not a normal thing and you need to go seek professional help. If you feel *kitten* about yourself after you eat more than 800 calories a day, that is completely a mental thing and I am no psychologist so I would recommend to seek their help. I don't think anyone here would really be of assistance. Good Luck by the way.

That's not actually true...starvation mode doesn't exist in the way you think, you would continue to lose weight and health markers until you die. The metabolism also keeps going

No - I know how you feel. Many doctors won't take an ED seriously unless you're below a healthy BMI. I think you should speak to a counsellor who specializes in eating disorders.

You very well might be able to get yourself to eat a healthy amount of calories every day. But the thing that tells you you're no good unless you're starving, that you're not worth a doctor's time, and all that yuck, will still be there. I think you'd benefit a lot from a good therapist no matter what you weight, so if you don't qualify for an ED specialist please don't let that stop you.
None of us are worth their time, otherwise we wouldn't have to pay them

Because they are eating in an extremely big caloric deficit. They are starving their body.0 -
OP you should see your Dr AND a Therapist.
You need the dr to make monitor your blood pressure, weight and overall physical health.
You need the therapist to help you work through your control issues and mental health.
If possible you should try and get your Dr and Therapist to at least touch base with each other. Yes this allowed if you give them permission.
