Is anyone here in to fasting? i have played around with it off and on, but never really tried it with any commitment. I was just curious if anyone here has.

Why do you want to do that? You are setting yourself up for failure.

Never! Why bother to put your body though that? Excercise and eat at a deficit of you want to drop a few pounds.

Fasting for how long? There are a few intermittentent fasting groups here. I was doing a version of the Warrior plan, where I was eating all my calories in a four hour span. So I would eat from 12- 4 and then not eat again until 12 the next day. I got sick (unrelated to fasting) and haven't picked it up again. But I liked it.

I don't think anyone on here is going to be on board with prolonged fasts, water only fasts, juice fasts etc etc etc.

I 5:2 fast. I LOVE IT. I feel amazing when I fast (500cals 2 days a week, maintenance the rest).

There is a 5:2 group and an IF group as well.

OP - if you are talking about IF then it can be a useful tool. check out the groups on here or go to www.leangains.com …I thik that 5;2 has a webiste too.

If you are talking about something idiotic like a month long water fast or something, then please do not do that.

Also, calorie deficit is what leads to weight loss, fasting is just a tool to create that deficit. And fasting is not going to burn fat faster or make you drop weight faster …

I get moody when I'm hungry so fasting doesn't work very well for me. Plus I like food.

if you do IF 18;6 you eat all your calories in a six hour window ..no issues with satiety ...

I am assuming you are speaking of intermittent fasting. I have done it for a small time frame. It helped me A LOT with sticking to my daily calorie goal and to not be a snacker. I do not really care for breakfast so it was not that hard for me. I like the 16:8 for myself.

    Strong blanket statement.

Anywho, fasting intermittently can work for some individuals. I have done it and still do. I have very good control of my dietary adherence.

Meh, Grade A has no flavor!

I like fasting, sometimes I IF and hold my eating until the evening feeding. Sometimes I'll go a day or two on water. Not for health purposes, but for focus purposes. It feels refreshing, and I always treat myself to a nice meal when coming off. However it's a bear to do when I'm in training.

Op statement was blanket as well. He has not responded, I would have followed up with what everyone else has said as well regarding 5:2 or 16:8

I am bordeline or prediabetic for the last 2.5 years
my fasting glucose is betweem 6.9 - lately 7.4
if I skip breakfast my glucose down to 6.2 -6.4
fasting for 18-24 hours 1x monthly keep my insulin and glucose down,
so fare I do not need pils
with insulin resistance it is very hard to loose weight

Yes, I do IF. It works well for me and Im type 2 diabetic. I also eat a ketogenic diet to control blood sugars so I never have wild blood sugar swings.
