I have one of these at home - http://www.athomefitness.com/E4000-Dual-Action-Upright-Exercise-Bike-p-16853.html

It is rated up to 300lbs but is a really solid gym-quality exercise bike so even 325-350 shouldn't be an issue. A very solid piece of equipment

But yes, it is $999 "new" - I ended up finding one for $350 at a "2nd wind" exercise shop. They did deliver. Even if you can't afford new prices, consider visiting a exercise shop just to try out the different equipment. The sales people may try to pressure you into buying something but it might give you an idea of different brands to look into esp. since you want something solid, quiet and small.

Also, I would never completely rule out Ebay/Craigslist because sometimes there are people trying to sell off good quality equipment for cheap and you may be able to even afford a "delivery fee" charge if you find a good deal on bikes like I mentioned above.

I know they do sell equipment that's just the pedals of a stationary bike. I have one that comes with a timer. So no calorie counting or anything like that, but it's quiet, takes up very little space during use (you can just sit in a chair and do something with your arms like lift weights if you want) and it folds up to about the size of a step stool. Might be worth it to look into if it comes to that.

What one do you have? I'd like to look into getting one of those!

I have the one from Gold's Gym, but looking up "exercise peddler" or "body cycle" on somewhere like Amazon will bring you up plenty. Apparently this one might not stand up to rigorous use (which is fine with me).

Since I was specifically asking for exercise bikes I was like wait what? Maybe its not what it sounds like... I have a road bike I can't use because its winter
and that's why I said get a cheaper trainer, like the kurt kinetic.

Just checking back on this thread and that machine looks like the best price-point and size and weight capacity match I have seen yet for what the OP was looking to get.
