Female lifters - what shoes do you use?

I'm looking to buy shoes specifically for days when I'm lifting. I've had cross trainers and running sneakers and tried lifting in just socks but it creeped me out too much to not wear shoes in my gym.

Any brand and style suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

I know I'm not female lol, but if I'm only lifting and no cardio on that day IDC what's on my feet, I'll lift in house slippers

Chuck Taylors or any flat-soled shoe will work for lifting.

    Chuck Taylors

That's what I wear at the gym. I kept an eye out for clearance sales. If you don't mind weird patterns or colors that might work for you.

At home, I just wear socks.

New Balance Minimus WT10BL. I love them. I tried a couple other "barefoot" style shoes and like these the best.

I wear Converse, which is what was suggested to me when I first started.

Chucks. Plan on getting some squat shoes in the near future though.

I wear a pair of retired running shoes. They're working great for me.

Anything flat without padding/absorbing material in the heel/ball of the foot. Chucks are a common option. Target always has cheapie off-brand keds/chucks.

I powerlift and use Reebok's crossfit lifting shoe. I have tried a bunch of different shoes and these by far have been my favorite. Hope this helps

Do not buy shoes with a compression sole to lift in (and particularly not squat in) - it creates an unstable platform.

Get a pair of shoes that has a very flat sole with no compression, like chucks. For squats you can use these or get squat shoes.

Not female, but I lift in Adidas Sambas (an indoor soccer shoe). List price is kind of high, but they go on sale fairly often.

I have Reebok lifters as well. I use them on leg day, especially if it's heavy squat or my focus is quad dominant. I just use my regular trainers on my other days.

Any old plimsoles/chucks or bare feet. I have lifting shoes but I honestly don't wear them that often.

I wear Vans. They're flat like the Converse but have a little more room in the toe so I liked them better. It doesn't hurt that they're black and sparkly either!

I'm a barefoot kind of girl. Thanks to my home gym.

I also use chuck's if I go to the gym for whatever reason. I have not tried NB minimus but I might!

    these- or my vibrams.
    - If I didn't have either of those- chuck's/converse/socks.
    - whatever is flat.
    - I'm too cheap to buy real lifting shoes.

I've never seen these shoes. Are they good for running too? I need a new pair of running shoes. I'm too cheap to buy 2 pairs.

I use regular sneakers, but I was happiest in new balance minimus or anything with the least cushiony bottom as possible. I'd wear chucks if I had them.

Home gym so I lift in slippers. (Technically they're suede moccasins)

    which?
    vibrams or minimum?

I run in both honestly- it takes some adjusting- but I don't mind I like them. I've put some miles on mine- not crazy miles- since I don't run much- but I ran a trained and ran a trail 5K last year in my vibrams. little fish for real runners- but for me that was adequate proof they worked.

same results for the minimum honestly.

I'm liking New Balance 574 atm I wasn't so sure about using them lifting at the first they've actually been great more progress so far with them. Usually I'd stick to flat sole Nikes.

Agree with others on here, I love both my NB Vibrams and Minimums. Although I've seen a pair of Inov8 Fastlift 335 ladies weightlifting shoes that I'd love to try. Pretty expensive though hence why I've yet to buy them!

Yeah, I don't need hardcore shoes. I hate running, I will never be a runner. I just do it for cut and maintenance cycles.
