Just made some and I think something went horribly wrong. They were awful. Does it have to be pastry flour? I used regular whole wheat flour instead. Could that be the reason?

That's probably the reason why it did not work. It either needs to be all purpose flour or whole wheat pastry flour. I have never had any success with whole wheat flour as it weighs the recipe down and does not allow them to rise at all. Try a smaller batch with all purpose flour to see if that makes any difference. (It could also be your baking soda/powder is bad or maybe you just don't like the recipe )

Just made these, and they're very good! I used whole wheat flour, so they didn't get very fluffy, but the flavor was great. They taste like way more calories than 57! Now that I know they're good, I'll try experimenting with new ingredients. Thanks for sharing!
