A diet that would never be used by the military, is called the military diet...

... Back away slowly, turn, then run.

I missed this one in the Marine Corps. What is the "military" diet.

In the Air Force we ate "*kitten* on a shingle" for breakfast sometimes, is that in the diet?

I missed it in the Army too considering we lived on Pizza, Beer and MRE's... lol

No *kitten*. Best cure for getting "unstuck" from your MRE's is Pizza and Beer.

Mmm, tuna ice cream surprise! What's not to love about this? /sarcasm :s

    Pros: None at all.
Cons: It's stupidly low on calories, disgusting combinations of food (see picture) which are completely arbitrary and not based in science (some sites tout the "special combination of foods magically accelerate weight loss"--seriously, some versions of this Diet have you eating hot dogs--magic HOT DOGS for Pete's sake).

    Run away, please.

My first "military diet" consisted of.... Shovel as much food into your mouth as you can in five minutes while being yelled at to get up and leave! Ha ha... Then as soon as that was over, I was told to go run 3 miles.

As far as the "military diet" that is making it's rounds now.... I agree with chivalryder....

I am in the military and we eat Rats. Not sure you'd call that a diet given that there's about 3500 calories in each pack.

Pros: You'll be starving which will be great if you enjoy staving.

    Cons: Too many to list.

Just don't do it. Eat less, move more.

This wouldn't be quite so stupid with another name. (It would still be stupid, but not mind-numbingly so). When my BF talks about the Marines, he mentions gallons of milk, peanut butter on waffles (he was underweight) and a gunnery sergeant who used to eat creatine by the scoop.

OH! So they just repackaged the old "3 Day Diet" into the "Military Diet"?

Lawd. The hungriest I've ever been in my life was trying to get through that diet.

It used to be called the Mayo Clinic Diet and the Fax Diet back in the 70's and 80's.

I've attempted this so called "diet" once for the fun of it... I couldn't make it past day 2, I had the shakes really bad and headaches.

    has anyone tried this diet?

3000 cals per day, train lots :) Oh yes
    Pros

Four meals per day and getting paid to do lots of training. Uniform is a very popular attire at times.
    cons?

Gunnery instructors, and I'm not good with authority...

What do you do with the other half of the banana? How do you store half a banana? Seriously, I'm asking.

Duh! In the freezer with the tuna flavored ice cream ;)
