Another b.s. diet concocted by a know-nothing celebrity "trainer".
Don't eat:
Gluten
Soy
Dairy
Eggs
Corn
Peanuts
Sugar
Really? "But it must be true! Her book was on the NY Times bestseller list...."
I don't eat any of those but eggs and sugar and I still gain weight if not careful. IMHO only avoid food categories if you have an allergy/it makes you sick. Otherwise, moderation.0 -
I looked it up.. I know the OP is looking for others doing this diet and not advice or criticism about the decision made to spend money to do this.
I watched 1 minute of the video and looked up this on the FAQ page. This makes no sense to me as to why this Ms. Virgin lady is making millions on something that can be achieved with life style changes on a daily basis and for long term success.
I did not get into the 7 foods that are eliminated by this diet to reach success but in short it is to get you off sugar. If we could only help others on MFP to keep their money in their pockets and learn better choices and change habits that are considered a code that needs to be broken. ?????????
Mrs Virgin says this:
When I wrote The Virgin Diet, I was on a mission. I had to help people with what I discovered: food intolerances were sabotaging their health and holding their weight hostage. You can be doing everything right, even eating healthy diet foods, and still not lose a pound. Eliminating seven foods unlocked the key to fast weight loss in just 3 weeks. It was so incredible to see people get their lives back—weight came off fast, and the fatigue, bloating, and aches that came with food intolerance disappeared. So people told their family and friends. I was amazed at the movement it started. By now it’s helped hundreds of thousands of people finally lose the weight and feel better fast.
And as I watched people go through the program, I realized that one food was the biggest needle mover of them all: sugar. Reducing sugar is the one thing that can jump-start your weight loss or crack the code on breaking through a plateau better than any other, especially if you’re not dealing with other intolerances. But—and this is a big but—not all sugar is created equal!

This is almost exactly like my diet, except instead of simply restricting myself because of fad *kitten*, I can't eat most of this list because it will make me gravely ill...
Though I do eat sugar. Lots and lots of sugar. :disagree:0 -

Really? A thread full of virgin jokes and the atheist joke is the one that gets flagged?
(By the way, I love you all.) XD0 -
In another thread, someone commented that they had seen another MFPer logging calories burned in "self-pleasure." Maybe that's the Virgin workout plan? IDK, it's been a long time....
Of course people on this fad diet lose weight. They aren't allowed to eat anything but rocks and bark, washed down with unicorn tears. (Oh, I'm sorry, only Non GMO and Organic Unicorn Tears. my bad.)0 -
Does the virgin have more calories or macros if her name is Mary?0

So, no cherries then?0

The virgin diet is not really about weightloss, weight loss is a side effect. The main idea behind the diet emilinating imflamitory foods and foods most associated with food allergies and sensitivites. WHen you eliminate these foods for a set period of time (I think its something like 6 weeks) then you give your body a chance to repair any damage that may have been caused be years of eating foods that inflame. After the initial period, you add foods back in one at a time and see how your body reacts sot hat you can know what foods may infame and cause issues for you and what foods do not. I did the virgin diet a couple years ago becaue I was having frequent stomach pain. I found out that dairy products are a real issue for me and have since eliminated them. I also no longer eat soy products as I found they made my PMS symptoms awful! It was really useful for me, and I did lose weight, but the main concept of the diet is giving your obdy a chance to heal by elminating infamitory foods and helping you identify what foods are good for your body and what are not. its really jsut a clean eating plan with a focus on food sentitivites. I also drank wine on the regualr while I did this diet, I was a bad virgin
and the virgin part of the diet comes from the creators last name which, in and of itself, is unfortunate.0 -

Inflammation is not always caused by food. Other causes are infections, stress, exposure to pollutants, lack of sleep, and - surprise surprise - obesity. There are so many factors, that it's hard to claim Diet X is what will cure your inflammation. I used to have chronic inflammation in my leg to the point of needing medication if I had to sit for long periods of time. Once I lost 85 lbs, it went away completely. And yes, I still eat pretty much everything on the "bad" list. YMMV.0
