I also find Gyms a complete waste of time unless the goal is to Bulk, Freeweight stations are always hogged by Gym Rats and the Machinery is bulky and usless and doesnt reflect proper Mechanical movment of the joint.
I bought a dumbell and kettlebell set and thats all i ever need0 -

I've been working out at home for 3 years, mostly dvds, online workouts and weights, though now I've been thinking about doing strongman training, so I either need to find a giant tire for the backyard or I need to join a gym. Fortunately, there's a strongman/powerlifting gym near my house. I'll be checking them out this weekend.0

I had a gym membership for a year and it worked out alright, but I felt I always had to spend a ton of time there, and when I started wanting to lift heavier I got intimidated by all the men in that section.
I started to really enjoy HIIT workouts and would occasionally skip the gym and just do a HIIT workout at home. I dropped my membership and started regular home workouts in October with Jillian Michael's videos and I've been doing BodyRock for the last 8 weeks. I had to purchase dumbells and rig up some equipment for the BodyRock workouts but it was so worth it because it's a new one every day so I don't get tired of it. And they are KILLER.
I just love the comfort of being in my own living room with no one watching me...and not having spend time driving to the gym!0 -
The gym I used to go to back in England was in a castle with an amazing view and had a sauna, steam room, hot tub and large pool I could use after working out. There was almost never anyone else there so me, my girlfriend and any friends we brought along had it all to ourselves most of the time. After the luxury of that going to other gyms just feels like a huge step down, so yeh, I prefer working out at home now.0

I'm a new MFP user and am beginning to work out at home after recently quitting a gym. I have an elliptical, hand weights, bench and ball. Looking for new workouts to do at home when it's cold outside. I'm going to look up some YouTube videos. When it's nice outside I like to walk my dog and ride my bike. Add me- I could use motivation !0

I work out at home. I have a gym membership . I got tired of the gym. I walk with Leslie Sansong, strength training with Bob Harper and do HIT. It is a daily routine for me.0

I work at home, and my fiancé works nights (he takes the car) so I'm stranded on home island 90% of the time. Before I took this career path, I was a preschool/daycare teacher, and there are SO MANY WAYS to exercise at home that could also involve your kids if they're young.
1.) Dance while doing, well, everything--- put on some upbeat music and dance around while you clean, cook, etc etc. I used to have a dance party with my daycare babies right after circle time everyday, it was tons of fun and everyone got their energy out.
2.) Go outside! -- go out in the yard and play with your kids! Tag, hide and seek, treasure hunt, soccer, anything! It'll get the whole family moving, and you'll burn a ton of calories.
3.) Planking-- I'll tell you what, it is much harder than it looks, and it doesn't take my time at all. Google it or ask someone who knows their stuff about it.
Good luck!!0 -
I do my daily abs and core work out at home,
50 crunchies 15 press ups 1min plank 30sec side plank 1min bridge plank side plank press ups bridge crunchies press ups standing plank 2min bridge and then a final 50 crunchies
But I've just discovered the joy of the burpees so I've decided that I will incorporate 3x 20 of those into that routine too
I have just got my hands on a kettle bell so I am going to start doing 30mins kettle bell work out 6 days a week, I also do 2hrs training in the gym 5 days a week with 5 hours training on Sunday's (Saturday is my rest day)0 -
I work full time, have 2 kids and struggle to fit it in.. but usually manage 30-40mins 5/6 days a week - all at home. Have loved Jillian Michaels since i started just over a year ago & am now doing last stages of Body Revolution. After that i really need a new programme! Would love a home treadmill one day too & will maybe get back into running when the weather in not so sunny Scotland improves.0
