Hello am new I have had a by pass and cancer and I gained weight?.. yes I would like to know does anyone have a good diet to folloe and do you make your meals ahead of time. Thank you

I eat as I have for years, only reduced the portions. I made small gradual changes that added up to a big loss. I might make something like a roast on the weekend, cut it up and freeze it for meals during the week. There is usually a slow cooker meal ready too. I cook for two so it is easy to make too much.0

This. I'm going out for buffalo tenders (with a side salad) and microbrews tonight. I'll balance it out with some extra exercise and being a little under on my calories for the next few days. Hopefully I'll still have some room for the ice cream in my freezer too.0 -

But seriously. I eat everything I ate before, just less of it. I use a food scale to measure out serving sizes. As a result of calorie counting, I make better choices. I know that if I eat a lot of high-calorie, small foods I will be hungry as opposed to eating loads of veggies and lean protein. I still eat high calorie foods like candy, chocolate, ice cream, etc, but I portion control and eat them in moderation, instead of all of the time.
I pack my lunch and sometimes my breakfast every day. Most days I like soup because it's easy.0 -

I just eat less than I burn.
So I eat the foods I've always eaten - just only as much as fits into my calorie/macro target for the day.
69 pounds down so far. Seems to be working!0 -
Like everyone above has said. I enjoy my foods just eat less of it and move more. Except for my wine I find I have to cut that out until I can learn to control my intake. lol0

I still eat all the foods I love: fresh fruit, veggies, steak, chocolate, ice cream, fried chicken, etc. I just make sure to limit the quantities of unhealthy foods in my diet.
To stay on track, I make sure to weigh, measure, and properly log everything I eat in MFP. Thay way, I know exactly how many calories were in that fried chicken leg I ate last night. It helps keep me honest and losing weight. ;-)0 -

What am I eating to lose weight? Around 1800-2000 calories a day. Basically, I eat fewer calories than what my body burns in a 24 hour period, and I do my best to make sure I'm getting good nutrition, with plenty o protein, carbs and fats...most of the time, anyway. I still eat pizza, burgers, drink alcohol and enjoy desserts, I just fit them into my daily goals.0

I try to eat fairly heathy, I have cut out sugar and bread, I normally do chicken breast with vegetables, brown rice with black beans, salads, and recently started doing a meal replacement shake.0

Hartleys sugar free jelly is an excellent food for keeping away hunger with very low calories at only 9 calories per portion, check it out0

Try to avoid processed food, sugars, high glycemic carbohydrates, and foods rich in fat.
I eat around 1200-1800 calories per day but I count what I'm eating to make sure it's not too much - nor do I try to avoid important foods like fruits, vegetables, certain meats, &c. Eating highly nutritional healthy foods with good portion control is what I strive for.

I continue to enjoy foods "rich in fat" by keeping the portions to about a tablespoon, or the size to the first joint of my thumb. This includes peanut butter, all nuts, and edamame seed pods. I avoid deep-fried foods that may be higher in saturated fat or trans fats.0

Wow thank you all by asking I see I can understand it better it does not have to be just protein and I can have eggs and cut out sugar and less bread and the jam no sugar and bake my chicken and I think I will make 3 days of dinners. Thank you all again I was just eating protein and cheating here and there but than I got to where ( you know what ) and I was getting cramps and dizzy.. not good so I will change it up to lose weight..

Eat fruits first thing in the morning. Make smoothies. Look up food combining chart to see what fruits go well with each other for digestion. Your body will sing ! (*)0 -
I follow the strategy of portion control as above, but also try to eat fruit, veg, lean protein and complex carbs. Exercise can also make a significant difference to the amount you can eat and still lose.0

I really just cut portions to start, then I started replacing certain unhealthy foods (like chips and candy) with more healthy alternatives and pretty much that's all I did. What's great about MFP is you can still eat what you love, but it guides you into healthier eating habits.0

This is my first post; I'm a lurker. But you asked a great question, so I figured that I would jump in.
Preparation has been the key to my success (went from 193 size 12 to 134 size 2 four years ago). I buy fresh chicken breasts from Sam's Club in bulk and cook up about 15 pounds at a time. (I cook them on the stovetop, no oil; I just spray the pan, season them, sear each side, and then cover on low/medium for about 10 minutes.) Once cooled, I cut up all the chicken in bite size pieces and freeze in "snack size ziplock baggies," which holds about 4 oz. I bring a bag with me to work every day, which I add to my salads. (Either a "taco" salad, with lettuce/spinach, grape tomatoes, 1/8 C cheese, 2 T of black olives, jalapeños, and 1/2 bag of single size Doritos OR a spinach salad with blueberries, pumpkin seeds, cut up apple, and light feta cheese. No dressing).
I have literally eaten the same thing for lunch for 4 years, and I never tire of it. People think I'm nuts, but I changed mindset to "eat to live," not "live to eat." And besides, they taste darn good!!0 -

One I recommend is nonfat Greek Yogurt. Not "Greek Style" Yogurt, the two are definitely different. Mix 1 cup plain Greek Yogurt with a tablespoon of honey and a banana or some other fruit you enjoy and it's a delicious 300 kcal snack that will assist with hunger cravings for quite some time. Less honey/fruit if you're specifically searching for calorie reductions, but it helps to sweeten the yogurt enough to make it a good treat.0

Eat what you want, just eat less.
Asking what are people eating to be healthy would get a different answer.
I'm sure eating nothing but kebabs and pizza would let you lose weight but where are the vitamins and minerals?0 -
Yes to so many of the tips above, but one other thing you can do is add more vegetables. Chili, shepherd's pie, marinara sauce, tacos are all good places to add in more vegetables. Doing this will stretch higher-calorie ingredients like potatoes and beans and meat.0

like so many others have said... eat what you want and like ... just less. measure and weigh your food and track your calories and exercise (plus, if you exercise, you can eat more!) lolol0
