How to gain calories without gaining carbs

I am on a diet where I can only have 60 grams of carbs a day but my issue is at the end of the day I'm still not eating enough calories. For example, today I have 1,084 calories left from 1,890 including the 240 calories burned. Can I get advice on how I should manage this issue?

1 dozen eggs = 840 cals, 0 carbs.
You're welcome.0 -
Without an open diary, informed assessment is difficult. The generic answer is to eat more fats and proteins.
Is the diet plan that is so severely restricting your carb intake medically supervised and directed or something you put yourself on?0 -

What they said. ^^^^^
Also, are you on a Keto diet? 60 carbs is very low.
Just so you know, type of diet has nothing to do with weight loss. All that is required to lose weight is to eat less calories than you burn.
That said, red meat, chicken, and fish are low in carbs and high in calorie and protein, and they have some fat as well (fat content varies).

A friend of mine makes this awesome flavored coconut butter. I make my own by buying Artisana coconut butter and adding stevia drops and cocoa. You can change it up by adding different flavored drops, dried fruit, almonds, or toasted coconut. I eat it like peanut butter (usually right off the spoon). No carbs or very little, no sugar and good for you fats.0

Meat, Chicken, and Fish have no carbs as well. I do Atkins and have worked up to 50 carbs a day. Eating more fat will also give you more calories with fewer carbs (nuts, avocado, good oils, butter).0

Meat, eggs, cheese. So you are saying you've eaten only about 700-800 calories so far today? Why so low carb though?0
-
Meat, egg whites, lower-carb protein powder0

Why...can you only eat 60g of carbs. If this is not doctor-prescribed for an illness, then you do not "have" to only eat 60g of carbs. IF this is a fad diet, you're losing weight wrong. Lifestyle change > fad diet.0

Do not listen to the na-sayers.... low carb works to reduce your caloric intake....but in order to get enough calories you have to change your mind set. Fat is not evil... 1 ounce of walnuts are 200 calories. Check out the Low Carb Forum in MFP groups... Lots of great info there.0

I don't know if I am in a position to butt in here, but I will risk it. what Ana2067 is inquiring is important in order for anyone to help you. I did the Adkins for a while years ago. It may work for some but as with any of the diets I had tried in the past, they backfired on me. I had done very well (I finally figured out the acronym:) CICO and that has been the only way I have every been able to stay in shape. (I did lose my way again and I am thankful for this site!), but that being said, if this is a Doctor prescribed diet, I would think your Doc could help you with your menu choices to meet your calorie needs. Just a thought, but I am not a doctor, just an observer. Good luck on your journey:)0

And it's 100% unnecessary unless she is required to do this for medical reasons. If she is unable to meet her caloric needs by eating so low carb, then better to eat more carbs and eat a healthy amount of calories.
Because you know what else works wonders for reducing your caloric intake? Just.... eating less of all foods.0 -

I often have the same problem Laci. I try to limit my carbs to about 100 and I find myself having to work to make sure I hit my minimum calories.
Sometimes I will add an egg or avocado to help out. Peanut butter & peanuts have too many carbs but I will put PB or tuna on celery or lettuce. Snacks of bacon or chicken are easy to grab from the fridge or take to work.
I like the coconut butter idea. I will message that person for the exact recipe. I have also heard of people supplementing with coconut oil. Obviously even a "low carb" protein bar or shake is a terrible idea if you are at 60.
Ill friend you and we can continue to swap ideas.0 -
Here I go again, just must add some more on this. If this is a diet that you are experimenting with, be careful. I am saying this, being 47 and have been on a roller coaster of diets throughout my life. As of now I am at my heaviest aside from my two pregnancies, 160 at 5.5 and I put this on in a few months of couch potato living, feeling sorry for myself and eating constantly with out tracking it at all. And when I look back the diets I had tried (which led to disordered eating practices, was Anorexic off and on and it did a number on my mind and body) I always failed and never felt good when I was on them. But, again if a doctor is telling you this is the way you need to go, I can't argue, for I don't know. Please be careful. Finally getting that, and although it may take time to do it right, the lifestyle is so much more gratifying for me than the roller coaster. Forgive me if I have over stepped my bounds. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you to get this right. Hugs 2 You and the best of blessings your way!0

Meat! My doctor put me on limited carbs too because of blood sugar problems.0

First of all if anyone wants to lose weight it is imperative especially when I'm not much of an exerciser to limit carbs to 50-100. I'm not experimenting this is from a nutritionist. Thanks for the concern but if anything you should not be discussing how it's unsafe but reply based on what the discussion is actually about. Thank you. So please nobody tell me how to diet I just simply wanted a little but of advice. Thank you to those that are directly replying on the discussion about the advice I asked for.0 -
Also wondering why 60, and if you could open your diary.
Go cook up some eggs with olive oil and some herbs/spices?
Are you able to prep all your own meals and snacks? (Just asking because you're 18, so don't know if you're with parents or in a rez without a kitchen.)
And if this isn't for a medical issue, I'd say just call this day in. Eat enough calories, so your body gets enough nutrition. Then start planning your meals well ahead of time, so that this doesn't happen in the future. You'll have to incorporate more fat- and protein- dense foods into your meal choices. Cooking 3 meals a day with 1 tbl of oil each would add like 360 cals alone, for example.0 -

Sixty was literally a number I pulled out of the air between 50-100 (to lose weight) I allow wiggle room I just do not prefer to go over sixty unless it's a just have to situation. I'll take in consideration the eggs I could easily cook it up myself regardless of parents.0 -

I should only eat more carbs if I'm athletic or even moderately active but I'm hardly lightly active so I should less carbs to lose wait. People only say to stack up on carbs when your run or your athletic so you don't lose to much water weight and focus more on muscle building0 -

Umm ... the part in bold isn't true. You admit you picked a number out of a hat. You can lose with or without carbs ... caloric deficit is what matters.

Guess I didn't lose 30lbs eating 180-300g of carbs on average. WOOPS my bad.
CICO for weight loss. Your nutritionist is wrong, honestly.
I already gave you MY advice: if you cannot eat up to your caloric goal with such an unnecessarily low carb goal, eat foods that you actually want to eat within your caloric needs.

I just ... wut? No. This makes no sense. If you're not diabetic or have PCOS (insulin resistance) and are being told by a medical professional to limit your carbs it's not necessary. I've also lost 30 pounds just fine eating plenty of carbs (and I *do* have PCOS).0
