    Take the easiest way out.

What do you mean by this?

Take the easiest way out of being overweight, pick the easiest diet to stick to, the easiest exercise program to enjoy, the easiest habits to implement. No need to torture yourself with something when you can achieve the exact same, or similar, results with something else. The easier things are, the easier it is to turn them into habits.

Example 1: getting enough protein is important. I do not like most meats and I'm mildly allergic to egg whites, so most of the protein sources I enjoy have a hefty serving of calories attached per protein gram. I could torture myself by forcing meat and fish down my throat, and I would be eating enough protein this way, but how long will I last before I break down? With the amount of weight I have to lose, not long enough. I would rather have as much protein as I could comfortably handle, even if it isn't up to standards, and lose the weight than elbow my way through and quite, staying overweight.

Example 2: During the winter I tend to eat more and move less, so I choose to maintain (rather than lose) during winter months and switch back to weight loss during the summer. It's slower, yes, and not ideal, but it gives me a much needed break and helps me soldier on.

Example 3: Restricting calories every day is a bit limiting and hard for me, so I either do a variation of intermittent fasting, or calculate my calories as a weekly total because it's easier and more flexible to have the things I want in quantities I want in exchange for having a lower calorie/higher exercise day sometime later to make up for it. In the end, the result is the same and less poking at 12 chips wishing I could have the whole bag.

and so on... basically, you don't need to be perfect. You can easily adapt things to fit your habits and personality to make your diet as comfortable as possible.

    dont listen to the forums.

ive had success here, left, came back, ect. still having success on my end but the forums here are taking a plunge, they're just full of people bickering back and forth over nothing, and most dont have a clue what they are talking about. do your own research and form your own opinions. use the forums for general advice but other than that you wont get much use other than entertainment

eta; sorry took it as general advice, i guess id change it to "cater to your own TDEE", its the only foolproof way
