Thinking of doing a master cleanse...any advice?

Now, I know a lot of you are going to
explode when you read that title. But I think there's some
very good evidence about the beneficial
effects of taking on a good cleanse. So, I guess I'm just
really hoping someone can give me some
good solid advice on what cleanses are the best,
or which ones provide the most benefit in terms of
nutrition. I've seen a lot of people get up in arms about
nothing when it comes to cleanses
and detoxes and the like, so I'm reaching out to
guys like me who are open minded and not bogged down
in the "science" of things like "CICO" and "leafy green
vegetables are good for you". I seriously want to hear from
everyone who's tried a cleanse or detox program. Which did
you try? What was it like? What did it do to your internal
organs, like your stomach and kidneys? Did you end
up hungry all the time? Did you find yourself in a sudden,
urgent rush to go to the bathroom at inopportune
points of the day? What? Tell me! I want to know.
Thanks!

Yeah, it sucks when people get bogged down in "science" and "facts" and "reality" and don't give you advice on made up pseudoscience crap....

I did Arbonne's 7 day cleanse. It did nothing for me but make me hungry and give me a constant headache. I lost 3 lbs... which I gained back the next week. I was expecting to feel great, but I really didn't. Good luck to you with whatever you choose to do, but I'll never do another one.0

Yeah, my advice is don't.
I did a "cleanse" with some girls from work. Well I did it that day at work then ate pizza for dinner because *kitten* that. The girls I worked with who actually stuck with it said they all felt like crap.0 -
Lol @ "not bogged down in the "science" of things...."
Good grief. Someone pour me a drink.0 -
Tonight my cleanse will be a Nevada Pale Ale. My inappropriate bath break will be early 5AM so I can do a short run and think about eating green leafy things like beet greens.0

I've been doing a cleanse that my uncle told me about. His friends brother came up with it and it's pretty neat. They call it "The Push". Basically it is a milk based cleanse where the schedule jumps from whole milk to non-fat depending on the day of the week. I haven't figured out why they call it "The Push" yet but all this milk is giving me the stomach girgles.0

OP, can you provide the "proof" about these benefits? If your liver and kidneys are doing their job, then cleanses are completely unnecessary.0 -

Okay so... Ive done the master cleanse 3 times.
The first time lasted one day...when I drank my last one of the day, I had half a pizza to go with it...fail.
The second time I lasted 3 days...well, 2.5 days...by lunch I was eating everything I could get my hands on. Also, the taste of the cayanne lemonade grew on me, and I was drinking it with everything I was eating. Also a fail.
The third time was this last Fall...I made it 7 days. I spent pretty much all of the 7 days in the bathroom and lost a pound a day. I was so proud of myself...not cause of the results, but cause I actually did it. Kind of like an episode of Jacka** kind of proud. By the next week, I gained back all the weight plus some...and also, I physically felt like crap. Dediced all that tomfoolery with my body was enough.
I have now been eating sensibly, drinking a load of water, still use the bathroom way more than I ever have in my life because Im constantly hydrated, losing weight and keeping it off, plus I feel more amazing than I have in a *very* long time. Except I get to eat real food. Its been 5 weeks now, I have no problems sticking to this, and oddly enough that is working for me.
Anyway...thats my take on it, as someone who has done it, and will never do it again in favour of doing what actually works to make me feel good and lose weight as well.0 -
Also, since you want to knock science in that way. You might as well believe gravity doesn't exist either. Calories in Vs Calories out is a LAW, not a theory...
Right? OP, the awesome thing about science is its existence doesn't rely on people's beliefs or refusal to believe. A cleanse will not change how science works.0 -
Pesky "science".0

my understanding is that the liver and kidneys need a pretty wide assortment of vitamins and minerals to work at optimum efficiency. so ironically many of the so-called cleanses possibly do more harm than good and leave your insides dirtier. maybe someone else can add more to that train of thought.0

I'm calling troll on this one0

I would ask the master first. Ninja cleanses are never appreciated.0
