What real women look like

You know what real women look like? Real women. They are all around you. There's no ideal. I hate the use of "real" when searching for a goal weight or perfect body type.
They mean as opposed to photoshopped women. That website is actually great for that, you can see the athletic, and the not so athletic at the same weight, different women, different body shapes, all real, none photoshopped into some perceived perfection.
I love that website. I actually happen to be right around average in size for my weight according to photos there, so it helps me shop for clothes since I tend to order online at every weight milestone. It also helped me identify my goal weight based on average looks of women there around my height, I appear to be drawn to the shape of the women between 140-150, closer to 150.0 -
I like the site too...it's interesting to look at your weight and then a few pounds less to see what the future might look like!0

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I knew I wouldn't get any matches. Size small shirt, size 14 pants, 5'2", 160lbs. Yep, I'm unique!
Edit: Also just looked up my goal (which I have been at before so I know everything already) small shirt, size 12 pants, 5'2", 130lbs. One person. XD
More edit: Ok, I put in size 10 pants, because they fit me at 125lbs and there were a whole 3 people! Shout out to short people with massive hips!0 -
Yes, but that's the point of the site. It shows real women. Of EVERY size. Some have big breasts, some have wide hips, some have visible muscles, some have back fat, some have protruding hips, some have a thigh gap....all at the same height and weight! The benefit of the site is that it shows that we come in all shapes and sizes and just because you don't see someone who matches your stats in a magazine doesn't mean there arent many women around the world who are built like you, carry weight like you, and fit in the clothes you do. It's actually very non-normative in its approach. Quite refreshingly.
The beauty of the site is that it shows that real women (actual real women, not the "real"=some idea some one person THINKS is body-positive) carry weight very differently. At my height, I see women who look "like me" in about a 40 pound range! I see women at my goal weight who look like me, and women at my starting weight who also seem to look like me...it shows just how silly "numbers on a scale" are for measuring our fitness and health.

I enjoyed looking at women in my age range and the interesting belly lumps they'd earned in a lifetime. I am pretty sure I spotted some laporiscopic scars there. That was like looking in a mirror. For me, gratifying.0

im tall but dont carry weight well like you would expect for a tall girl. i look much fatter than nearly every person on that site of my height and weight.0

I am wondering if most people on the site are not very honest. My stats and my goal stats are mostly bigger than I expected.0

That's really cool I'm glad you were able to find a kind of validation or reassurance in those pictures0 -
I've put a few pics on there as I've lost weight but haven't done so recently. The one thing I find curious is the body shape thing. It seems like no one wants to claim being an apple.0

I did. Guess what? They can't match my body type. Not one picture of anyone that matches me. Not until I change the age range and body shape. Well, that's not matching me, then... is it? And it's not very realistic.0 -
I didn't find any matches for me.
I put in 5"8, hourglass, 140lbs. I did put in size 2 as I'm Australian size 8. Not 100% sure if that was correct. Does anyone know? I thought I was pretty average.0 -
Those of you not finding matches, do not try to match body type. They are self-entered and not at all accurate IMHO.0

Ummm, it's a website where women contribute their pictures, it's obviously incomplete. Why is everyone getting their panties in a twist all of a sudden?0

Maybe you should contribute a picture so other people can see what your body type at your height and age and weight looks like. It's incomplete because it relies on picture donations.0 -

Also I think AUS 8 = US 4. I find it's less helpful to put in clothing size though. YMMV0 -

You have 34" hips?0 -
Yeah, clothing size is meaningless. Depending on brand and how long ago I got the clothes (ie era of vanity sizing) and whether its a dress or a pair of jeans... I can be anywhere from an 8 to a 14.
I only do the matching by height, weight and body shape. But not a lot of women at my height, so I also sometimes leave off body shape, just to see the whole range for other ladies my height / weight.0 -

I'm glad I found this website, it's refreshing! I will contribute to it, and it helped me decide on a new goal weight of 130-140, and that I need to start lifting!0

Check out this one. It shows you a computer generated model of how you might look at your goal weight.

At first glance, oh dear God, no. Then, later pics match the ones I took of myself. I kind of agree with Projecthotbel. Some pics are not remotely close to the posted weight/pant size that I have experience with AND taking into account body shape.
I had a better reaction to my goal weight pics. There were a few that looked very close to what I think of myself after losing and heavy lifting. They looked better, actually. I'd be over the moon to be close!0 -
I liked the site, though they only had two photos that matched my specs. While I did think they could maybe lose weight, I did not react towards their photos with the disgust that I react towards mine.
On a side note, why are certain replies here blocked with what look like bars and a keyhole? Is this just my app that is doing this?0 -
@IamUndrCnstruction the padlocks mean the poster has had warnings for naughty behaviour. If you go on a computer you can read their posts there, as the bars only cover the profile pic. It's very annoying when you're on your phone!!! :grumble:0

I've got ten scars on my belly and I can't imagine ever taking an unclothed picture, much less sharing it! That's pretty brave.0 -

I did not realize that you could not see them from the phone. The inconsistency is a little odd.0
