How does the 5:2 diet work? Just curious. Don't want to try it!

The 5:2 diet works with a normal consumption 5 days a week but two days a week you have a limit of 500 calories. On the fast days you're not allowed to eat any exercise calories back either. I tried it but failed miserably, I couldn't do 500 calories although it seemed so fine and achievable. Some people swear by this diet, so each to their own0

I'm ok with it, but the 500 calorie days (for women) have to be well planned for me. It got better over time. My 500 days are high volume veggies, low fat, protein with lunch & dinner (skip breakfast). Skipping breakfast was an acquired thing. Lots of tea. These are my no exercise days too (or sometimes yoga, but nothing too strenuous).
