How many calories would be in a chicken taco?

Went to a Mexican restaurant for lunch with my boss and tried to make better choices. Didn't get beans or rice like I normally would and took most of the cheese off! Unfortunately the tacos came in a fried shell. About how many calories do you think one of these tacos would be? I'm trying to peice things together on things already in the MFP diary but I want to make sure I'm not underestimating.
1 taco consisted of about:
1 fried corn tortilla shell
1/2 cup shredded chicken
1/8 cup cheese
1/2 cup iceberg lettuce
How many calories (estimated) do you think would be in this taco? I was estimating about 250 but I feel like I'm incorrect.

Why don't you log it in your diary to find the calorie content?0

If you could list the ingredients in ounces or grams it would be a LOT easier. Cups are volume measurements, not weight.0

It's an authentic restaurant, not a chain. They don't have nutritional info
I am finding a lot of different things when searching in generic terms0 -

Yeah I could try but I'm not good with estimating ounces by eyeballing things sorry0 -

But people who answer you are just going to estimate using generic terms....0 -

I was just asking people if I could potentially be underestimating.
There's no reason to be rude. People like you are the reason why I have anger issues.0 -
If you click on "Food" on the top menu, then pick the meal you want to add food to. It will come up with a Search feature for you to look up the calories with. Use the ingredients you listed instead of "chicken taco".0

You aren't ever going to know. You can't even estimate. I could make you a chicken taco of 200 cals. I could make you one of 900 cals. I could make some in-between.
Eating out can make weight loss difficult if done frequently. If you don't do it that often then call it an off day and get back on track tomorrow.
Or, log estimates by looking up a common brand of taco shell. Then look up another, and maybe another. Similar calorie count? Log one of them. It's an estimate but it will do.0 -

Fair enough. Thanks

What is wrong with you people .This just goes to show that no one on this sight really cares about you they just want to get a knife and cut at you.You are all rude!0

You could use the nutrition calculator on chipotle.com for mexican food estimates.
They're likely going to be off to some degree in one way, or another, but it would at least give you a decent idea.0 -

Yep, that's right. Every single person on this site cares about anyone. Not one single person cares enough to take time out of their day to try and answer questions. No one. Not one. We're all, every single one of us, just here to hurt people.
Can we quit with the generalizing and drama now?
OP, I'm with those who say you should add the ingredients to your food log based on your estimate and see what you come up with.

Back to the OP.... It's all an estimate. Even with a scale, we are estimating (albeit more accurately with scales). I've gotten better at estimating weights, but for stuff like shredded lettuce in a restaurant, I estimate volume (1/2 cup) vs. weight. It's lettuce. Even misestimating by half would be like 7 calories. It's the best I can do under the circumstances and I don't sweat it. I eat and cook a lot of Mexican, and I would estimate your taco shell as a 24g corn tortilla + 2g oil. But like others said, I didn't see it. That would be a good estimate for the tacos served around here. Estimating the chicken involves many other variables depending on how it tasted. Some places season with teriyaki, esp for fajita style sauté. Some places keep shredded chicken in seasoned stock (with fat) to keep it hot and moist prior to assembly. There was probably another ingredient in that chicken, but the qty was small. Sometimes for restaurant meals I log an extra tsp or two of oil for unknown prep. Do your best. It's all anyone can do, really. And it's better than nothing!0

I'd log 350 and call it a day. The fried shell is probably what's making it worse.0

and OP, here's my vast knowledge on the subject, as i have a ph.d. in tacology.
my research tells me that a taco bell standard, crunchy, beef taco with cheese is about 170 cals.
log that, and it's likely an overestimation, which is probably better than underestimating (though you dont want to under eat).
i think i'd call it 250 and not lose any sleep.
edit: on second thought, this was a restaurant and not a fast food place right? so their taco is probably bigger than the bell's. i think 350 is really high, but maybe that's the best route to take. i had initially said 150 based on putting together the ingredients bought at the store, but thats probably an underestimation as well.0 -

Your anger issues are all you, by the way.
I'd search the database for chicken tacos, use one of the higher estimates and hope for the best. The ones I make at home are around 300 calories each, for 2.5 ounces of meat each. I wouldn't go below 300, but that's just my opinion.0 -
Thanks everyone for your help I really appreciate it0

Rude. That word people use to try to shame/insult others when they don't have the stones to use something stronger.

I think 250 calories is a pretty good estimate. It's definitely tough sometimes. As long as you aren't always eating out and making inaccurate calculations, you will be fine. And also......don't let some of these "non-helpful" comments get to you. It's not worth it.0
