I use half and half in my coffee. If I have milk in cereal it's 1% because that's what we get the kids.

If I drink milk it is Skim (non Fat) but In our house we drink Almond milk. It takes getting used to at first but honestly I can't hardly choke down cows milk anymore.

I drink 1% because skim is to watery imo. You should drink whatever you like, as long as you stay within your macro goals, one won't "help" more than the other in losing weight

The one you like the best. All that matters is that you consume less than you burn. If I need milk, I use 2%, just as I have for my entire life.

Depends on the use. Hot chocolate and baking I use whole, for breakfast I do soy milk, and for straight up drinking I like 2%. Eat what you like and drink what you like if you can fit it in your calories and not binge.

+1 (could not have said it better myself).

    Really, whatever you like better.

Some people find full fat dairy more satiating, so for them that works better (especially if they prefer it). I've experimented and found no real difference in terms of how satisfying it is for me--I get hungry no later if I substitute full fat dairy--so I tend to use 0-2% depending on whether I find the 2% tastier. (I don't really use milk, though, I'm talking about yogurt and cottage cheese.) For me lower fat is convenient because it's a great source of protein without also adding lots of fat. (I get fat elsewhere in forms that are more satisfying to me.)

When I was a kid, we drank whole milk. When I got a little older, it was 2%. Since I've been on my own, and as an adult, it's non-fat.
I drink non fat, but to me that is a preference. I don't drink it because it's lower in calories or "non-fat". I drink it because I like the taste.

Either full fat or 2% as rule, although I also use almond milk sometimes because I like it.

Personally, i grew up on skim and anything over 1% taste nasty. And for me it doesn't matter as I get plenty of fat in my diet. So I do skim with my protein shakes.

There is nothing wrong with sugar, especially in the context of milk. And consider that milk has complete proteins (IIRC), which is beneficial. For me, protein > sugar.

1% because I don't like drinking my calories and skim is just nasty. I use almond milk in oatmeal though, we just have milk for the kids (and I use it for French toast).

I would question the last statement. I doubt there is really any research suggesting that almond milk is healthier than cows milk. More likely, it's been more psuedoscience to help sales for almond milk.

I usually by 2% but I also drink a lot of powdered skim milk because I can control the calories better and it doesn't go bad. I throw out a lot of fresh milk.

I read somewhere that full fat is better for you. I am going to go look for that.

It's generally less calories and contains no saturated fat and cholesterol. It also has no protein or calcium. So it depends on your diet and which macros you're in need of. I wouldn't say one is innately better than the other.

The sugar is lactose. The reputable recommendations to limit sugar are about "added sugar" and specifically things like low nutrient sweet treats, which tend to have lots of calories (often from fat, though) and not much else besides (other than taste, of course). The WHO doesn't fret about milk sugar.

But in any case, it's not actually true that skim has more sugar. It shouldn't, since it's not added and not removed from the full fat, after all.

1 cup of skim milk (Lucerne)=90 calories and 12 grams of sugar.
1 cup of 4% milk (Lucerne)=160 calories and 12 grams of sugar.

The sugar is simply a higher percentage of the calories in the skim, because it has fewer calories overall.

Don't mind me, this is just a pet peeve, especially when people (not you!) start making up nonsense about skim or lowfat milk having sugar added to it.

I like dairy for protein. Almond milk doesn't have any.

Almonds are healthy, of course, but completely different from dairy, so it would be weird to pit them against each other. Almond milk is okay (totally processed if you don't make it yourself, but that doesn't bother me), but more like a substitute for water than milk IMO.

(But then I don't drink much milk, as I said, and cottage cheese or yogurt from almond milk would be pointless.)

That is assuming you are drinking the unsweetened version. And cholesterol in food is health for you and sat fat isnt' unhealthy for you either.
