I'm more determined I have ever been now.
being only 27 I have so much time ahead of me in life and I just need to get this weight off now.
I do not hate myself the way I am, but I know I could be much happier and healthier under 200lbs. I am currently 305.

HI, I used to live in Austin too, it is a beautiful place. I think if you lose 1-2 pounds a week, consistently, you can get to your goal this time next year. They said that initially weight loss is faster, then it slows a bit. Good luck!0

Hi I'm from the Katy area near Houston. 17! maintaining my weight at 128 lbs and I love to weightlift. My goal is to bench press a max of 115 (35 lbs on each side) by the end of this June and be able to do 7 pull-ups unassisted. I can do 4-5 ! I used to be 180 at age 13 so I hope you reach your goal!0

Hi Courtney. I'm in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The great thing about Austin (besides being gorgeous) is all the places you can walk and opportunities to be active. There is ALWAYS something going on in Austin! And with the nice weather finally coming to Texas, your timing is excellent. Feel free to add me as a friend. I'd love to lend support as you embark on this journey.0

Good luck! You can do it! Time and patience, work hard and get results. Feel free to add me as a friend, we can help keep each other motivated. I have 20lbs to my goal but then staying at that weight will be the hardest part for me.0

Hey I have similar goals! I am starting around 295ish (I've already lost a few pounds) which is the biggest I've even been, and I'm trying to get down to 200. That's my first goal. Once we get there, I'll set a new one! I'm from Texas as well though! Good luck and add me! We'll kick our Butts together!0

Add me! I'm 50 and need to lose 65+. I joined OrangeTheory Fitness and love it! It's really motivating me to stay on track. I work really hard for an hour and it makes me think about what i'm about to eat. I'm in Houston - not too far from you! Anyone else want to add me - please do - I could use a few friends that are in the same boat!0

Hi...Bob from Dallas...slow and steady is the secret. I went from 284 down to 195 in about 18 months AND have managed to keep it off for the last 6 months. If I can help anyone with tips or hints, please let me know. Good luck!0

I am all about slow and steady! I want this to be a lifestyle change, not a temporary solution.
My biggest issue I think I have is with working out. I have literally no idea what to do or where to start. I have been walking around 30 min every night, but I start going to the gym this week and I'm at a loss.0 -
I'm in Katy. I have 100 to go, too. I'm adding you0

Hi Courtney! I'm Marlow! I've currently lost 113lbs and have about 30-40 more I'd like to lose. The best advice I can give you as cheesy as it is, is just to never give up. Even those days that you feel like it's not worth it or you feel like quitting just pull through and do it because it is so worth it in the end!0

Good luck stay strong. We will get this done together0

Feel free to send me an invite. I need to loose a lot of weight too.0

I'm not a girl and I don't live in Texas but otherwise I was in the exact same boat 2 years ago. I too was overweight my whole life. Also, like you, I didn't hate my body. My decision to do something about my weight was more for my future. MFP along with starting to run helped me turn my health around. Feel free to add me. If you have any specific questions, ask away.0

Hello! I'm Hannah, and like a lot of you, I have a lot of weight to lose. I started at 325 about a month ago and have lost almost 15 pounds. I've got about 150 more to lose, so I'd love some friends to help hold me accountable and motivate me.
I'm currently doing mostly low-carb because my boyfriend is diabetic and that's what his doctor recommended to help keep his diabetes under control. We live together and I do the majority of the cooking so it's just easier if I follow the low-carb diet, too. I also have a family history of diabetes so anything I can do to help prevent it is fine by me!
I'm a daily logger (38 day streak as of today) and I plan to keep it up. Feel free to send me a friend request (anyone in the thread, not just OP).0 -
I have lost 121 lbs so far
Things that worked for me
Weigh and log all food and drink
If you like a full plate put lots of low calorie veg or salad on it
Don't cut something out of you diet unless you have to ( I have to as diabetic t2 ) if you try to cut out say chocolate you will want it so much so have a tiny bit within your calories
Use a smaller plate / dish makes you think you are having more
Exercise does not have to be in a gym : do lots of housework, gardening , walking , dancing all count
I have to go low carb because of diabetes so make cauliflower rice and vegetables noodles.. They are a lot less Calories
If you mess up on one meal don't let it mess up the rest of the day /week
Find food you will enjoy - if you don't enjoy your food you will not keep to diet long term
I had a piece of clothing in a size smaller it was good to try it on to how near you are to it each week/month
( I started as a uk size 30/32 and now I am a uk size 16/18 I still have more to lose )
I had to find cheap clothes as they was getting to big for me so fast at the beginning
Weight loss does slow down sometimes
Weigh in once a week at about the same time as weight will go up and down in a day
Remember you can do this one day at a time0 -
Hey. I'm on the journey from 355lbs to 210, still about 70 to go so know the feeling of having 2-3 digits to lose. To get this far I had to think of it more as a lifestyle change than a diet or programme where you can't have the occasional rubbish. No "diet" needed, just eat a balance of good foods with a bit of activity and aim to change your lifestyle for longer term results vs getting annoyed at yourself for having a bag of chips or something. Just try to limit the junk of course. Takes time, and unfortunately a lot of people want quick fixes. It's taken me a year to lose 70lbs+, but I've done it for long term change rather than the 20 other times I've tried and failed. Now I don't even think about junk and its really easy to say no when offered, but I only achieved it by thinking long term change. We can all do it, just have to keep consistent and persistent.0
