Watch out, the "gluten sensitivity"/non-celiac police are going to come out to defend their eating habits. It's gonna get ugly.0

Nice, simple breakdown, thanks for sharing.0

"You know science is working when a scientist can prove themselves wrong." Love it.
Also, +1 for The Nib, which has plenty of other quality content.0 -

Glad to hear that cartoons are now considered fact. And up to date.
Makes life on university students and medical professionals easier. Because now they don't have to actually read medical journals. How cumbersome that is!
Thank god that I, along with everyone around me that I care about, do not buy in to the garbage that is that cartoon.
And thank god I keep my journal subscriptions current and don't stop reading them once I have found a few studies that tell me only what I wanted to hear.

What exactly is garbage in it? I also read journals and keep up with the latest research0 -
I get gym members asking me all the time if they may be gluten intolerant and using it as the reason they may not be losing weight. My answer: well if you're not losing weight first and foremost, I'm betting your eating more than you think. Of course the main rebuttal is: but I really do eat well!
Well is not the same as over eating.
If gluten intolerance is really a concern for them, I tell them to see an allergist.

I'd link you to a cartoon poster about logical fallacies, but I figure you won't take that seriously, either.0 -

even my "gluten sensitive" brother hates gluten free food....he says it's crap. Even most of the homemade stuff I did up for him...just not the same.
Not sure why someone who doesn't have to eat like that would....bleck.
BTW Gluten free flour reeks to the high heaven it's disgusting.0 -

Hasn't that been the case in the Uk for quite some time now?0 -

I don't eat most of the substitutes any more either. I was diagnosed 18 years ago and have given up on the sub par quality of them.
They really are just not the same.
There are a few worth having. Glutino pretzels are good, Trader Joe's Gluten Free Jo-Jo's are excellent (my husband says they're better than the gluten version), but overall?
A big meh.

My sister is Celiac, and she loves that fad because now she has so many more food options and people are more aware of it.
As opposed to when she was diagnosed in 2000 is was like blank stares from everyone0 -

Where'd that come from?
Anyways, love the comic; It's blunt and it's true. I went through a gluten-free phase after a botched appendectomy wrecked my GI system, after a bit more digging it turned out to be a minor wheat allergy that was just being more of a d**k as I was compromised, and after having a coworker with Coeliac the difference is bloody obvious.
Totally stealing the scientists quote too as Monash is my supervisor's alma mater.0 -

There really is a silver lining to every cloud. I didn't even think of that, but it makes sense.

I provide for those I care about. That doesn't include you. Do your own homework.
If you are going to engage in a discussion and make certain declarations, it is generally expected that those making those declarations provide source material for their conclusions.
It is up to the bearer of the opinion to prove said opinion correct.

1. I don't care about your expectations.
2. Look stuff up yourself. It's your health. Not mine.

It is an alt account. They claim to be a doctor, yet spend way too much time on the internet for a real doctor. They'll eventually rage quit then come back with a new account with "food" or "paleo" in their screen name0
