Why am I so heavy?

I'm 5'7" and weigh 143lbs (65kg) which I know isn't overweight as a size 8 (UK) that's all that should matter. But I'm the heaviest of all my friends and smaller than some, I do strength training 4 times a week and I am toned, so is it muscle that's keeping me heavy? I was lead to believe muscle is not heavier but just takes up less room than fat?
Anyway, I'm happy with my body shape which is the main thing I know, just wondered if anyone can clear up the muscle weight thing for me, thanks.

You're denser than your friends. That's why.0

I am not sure as you are not overweight and you are happy with you body shape. Does it matter it you are heavier than your friends? Are they as tall as you? You are a size 8 so what size are your friends? Not smaller I hope. Can I ask why you are a member of MFP?0

Look, if you're happy with your body shape and you're within a normal weight interval, who gives a flying fig about the exact number on the scale? Also, if your friends give you stick about being the heaviest, get new friends. If you're obsessing about your weight in comparison to theirs, stop.0

Uh..... because everyone is different????0

If your friends give you crap about weighing heavier, even though you're at a healthy weight and happy with your body... umm... stop telling them how much you weigh.
The muscle thing is that you can have the exact same measurements as someone who has a higher fat:muscle ratio and you will weigh more as, by volume, a square inch of muscle will weigh more than a square inch of fat. Exhibit A:

I actually checked your profile to see how old you were based on that question I figured you to be 18....you are 38.
I am the heaviest of all my friends too...same height as you, 7lbs heavier than you...but I wear a smaller size than most of them....US size 4.0 -
It is healthiest to compare yourself with a previous version of yourself not your friends.0

I agree with all of the above, it sounds like you have self-esteem issues, not weight issues hon.0
